All the, "restore Darkstalker's soul" coments are kinda wrong. Its not the magic that makes you go insane, (or maybe if you consider Albatross, since he had not motive to kill anyone except Queen Lagoon and that was barely justified other than a few bad comments about his presentability compared to Fathom) but it was what you think you can do with it that makes you going crazy. I once had this idea before Anenome and Turtle and Qibli animus enchanted soul protecting animus breaking craziness. Have a strange hourglass that only did 30 seconds. The animus who made it would create a Soul Point and every night would use it, or after they used their magic a lot. This way their sould would never be destroyed. I also made it thirty seconds rather than instant to have a sense of, "if it goes to fast the spell would set to weird points". At one point, the animus went a little crazy when they stopped using their soulglass as they called it. Then they realized that, "Wait a minute, if I change my soul to be angrier or kinder as the soul keeps moving I COULD BE A BETTER FIGHTER." Instantly the animus added a Soul Point for 1 minute, that was their current very angry state. Later they challenge the queen of another tribe and uses the angry Soul Point. This does make them a better fighter but causes them to use their animus magic, later someone convinces them to do thirty seconds.
I'm not surprised he didnt choose the strawberry. Despite everything, he still has the mindset of a child. He thinks his powers are everything. He would never give them up.
I think dying and being replaced with an infant and losing all of what makes you you is a bad fate, too, and that was also a huge part of what happened to Darkstalker
I think that Tui should do a Peacemaker POV book eventually, because it could be a chance to redeem him in the eyes of people mad about the ending of DoD (if written correctly). But what I don't get is why people take out their anger on Peacemaker, a child who did nothing, when it was the Jade Winglet's plan and Kinkajou's spell.
Eh, Peacemaker is kind of just supposed to be the ending, or the solution, I think having his PoV would be a little silly. He's supposed to just be a normal dragon who lives a fairly happy life and then dies, not someone who saves the world or does anything particularly interesting that would make a good book.
People hate him because Darkstalker was replaced by him, a happy-go-lucky infane with way less character development and actual depth than Darkstalker had. It would've been better to just kill Darkstalker off somehow, or to do something more similar to what happened to him first with the bracelet.
The thing is that Darkstalker wanted to be a powerful, legendary dragon that lived forever in legend, his name etched into every facet of history. Peacemaker is exactly what Darkstalker never wanted to be: unimportant, carefree, without animus/3 moon power. Darkstalker wanted to be the ruler of the continents; famous, powerful, revered. Instead he got supplanted by the inverse of his ideal life, without ruining Peacemaker's--Darkstalker didn't leave a corpse, go out in a blaze of glory (his last words were whining), or anything, at all. He never would have agreed to give up his life, because he wanted his power, glory, fame, etc. He'd never come around that he did anything wrong, ever. The guy who robbed other people of autonomy by trickery and force died, essentially, to being duped by himself. Yeah, his end wasn't perfect, but if he had eaten the strawberry, he would have broken character.
I agree with a lot of what you’re saying I have read Darkness of Dragons and as bad of a downfall as Darkstalker had it was kind of deserved. @@The_True_Mx_Pink True, but in doing so, that ending went against the entire point of the series; no one can decide your destiny but you. And if you’re wondering, no, I’m no Darkstalker apologist, I actually dislike his character. But the whole ending of DoD had some pretty icky implications, and left a bad taste in my mouth.
Honestly i see Darkstalker's ego his downfall. Being OP and expertly manuvering the Jade Winglet and Foeslayer unscathed, of course he'd feel impervious and scoff at a cute future involving himself. The vision is so absurd being a strawberry bite away, it knocks Darkstalker from the usual calculating self-defense that had him a step ahead any move or trap. His magic becomes poetic justice to manipulate having been the manipulator himself.
Alternate AU instead of darkstalker eating the strawberry because he chose to he still ate it out of spite but instead of it turning him into Peacemaker it's stripped him of his powers and he had to stand trial for what he did and get a Redemption that way and have to do like community service or dungeon time or something or after having to see ice wings as normal dragon s he sees where went wrong and fells guilt and is forced to help pyriha rebuild
I agree with you on some points, and not so much with others. After reading darkstalkers book for myself it's interesting to see how others interpret his character and his actions.
That’s why there is a prequel to this video that does show how he thinks and is mentioned numerous times in the video: ruclips.net/video/C6GmOEq13lY/видео.html
I do get why people didn't want it to happen. But nobody made him eat the strawberry. He chose it. In the end, he let it happen, even if he didn't want to do it.
I think looking at the strawberry scene as an ironic scene rather than something that goes against the moral of the story makes you appreciate it more. Darkstalker got his karma and the point of the story isn't tainted by the fact the villain got what he deserved. That being said I still want there to be consequences for Kinkajou's actions. I imagine for a while Peacemaker doesn't feel right because he's essentially living a lie. Maybe he finds out some way that he was Darkstalker and the shock of that messes with him.

RE: 2:14 - I think this is a disingenuous perspective. Just because someone is willing to do one kind of bad thing doesn't mean they're willing to do all the bad things. There's also the Magnificent Bastard trope, who's villainous but not an all-out jerk, which I think Darkstalker fits to an extent. The guy is a megalomaniac with a massive god complex, but he realizes (on some level) that some things he does just crosses the line somehow, even if he's often not willing to listen to others and take in their input. An example being the scene where he's making a new Clearsight in Darkness of Dragons. He starts out making his idealized versions of Clearsight and hating how inauthentic they are from the real one. When he makes a "truer" Clearsight, he's freaked out by her harshly criticizing him, and while she's changed to be more palatable, I think he truly understands the gravity of his situation and is choosing to ignore it. If Darkstalker *chose* to eat the strawberry, it'd be him realizing how bad he's become and him actively taking steps to start over instead of the protagonists doing the very same thing the villains of this arc have done, but it's okay because it's "the good guys" who are doing it. I think Darkstalker's a walking example of "absolute power corrupts absolutely" and he recognizes that. Giving him the power to change the future by being a better dragon and learning from his past atrocities puts his redemption arc in his hands (or talons, rather). With so many sympathetic scenes in the arc and his novel, I was under the impression that he'd be getting the treatment of a reformed villain leaning more towards the Zuko side (being directed that way by others with the ultimate turning point being his own choice) than the Nightmare Moon side (being zapped with an evil-scrubbing rainbow lazer). His rant about his future kingship didn't seem like an attempt at manipulation and more like he's recognizing that things are going to be difficult from here on out because of his own actions. Also, in Darkstalker's Choice, this gives Qibli the opportunity to use his speech as the tool to finally disarm Darkstalker. Implementing the POV's greatest skill into the resolution of the conflict *is* part of good writing. And Darkstalker only has to be convinced once to succeed.
I feel like everyone blames Clearsight for Darkstalker becoming evil, however in the later part of the darkstalker books, clearsight was dead. OH MY GOD SIBLINGS STOP PLAYING THE TIN WHISTLE OMG
I'm not sure if the story would be better if he had accepted... it just goes against his whole mentality by this point, even if it does fit the themes better. One thing I do think would have worked better if it was Darkstalker that shut off Animus magic at the last moment. The thing he wishes above all else is to keep his powers. It would make sense for him to retaliate in this way. He also knows that Turtle got his powers back because of the earrings, but I would bet he could directly enchant Animus power itself and switch it off. The earrings couldn't reverse that as its not targeting the Animus dragon. Now replace Jerboa's scene in 14 with her struggling for hours to think of a way to stop Darkstalker There would be plenty of ways to do it and still hit simular emotional beats.
Darkstalker is my fav character, and will always be.he wasn't even a villain,he was an antivillain and he is in the void with fathom, whiteout, and clearsight forever.
For 2k (and this is just a thought) maybe host an art contest, like a DTA (draw to adopt) or a raffle like you already suggested. Oh! And congrats on 2k btw! You deserve it!
To be honest, I didn't like the way Tui handled the strawberry scene. Instead of making Darkstallker a stubborn arrogant idiot, he could have decided to become a new dragon of his own initiative. A dragon that could have been truly happy for the first time in over 2,000 years. seeing what he had done and what he had become. Such a scene could have been handled a THOUSAND times BETTER! In fact, I will convince myself that it went like this.
Personally, I didn't care for most of the latter half of this book because it feels like Tui was on a time crunch and had roped herself into a corner and had to deus ex machina her way out, which I felt like she could've avoided if she hadn't spent the first half of the book focusing on Qibli's family drama that barely even ties in with the rest of the story.
“Was a controversial book to say the least” Damn not the Poison Jungle? I jest. I know it was only seen as “problematic” because of the same-sex relationship, even though it wasn’t and readers probably like the book more than the homophobes did. Edit: I finally finished Book 10 and I’m glad the same-sex thing wasn’t even such a big deal for Qibli because of Cobra’s idea of a SandWing and IceWing getting married, despite the characters involved are male. Alongside Anemone having a crush on Tamarin, It gives the implication that same-sex relationships aren’t that big of a deal in Pyrrhia.
There is more to darkstalker than meets the eye, he refused the strawberry not because of his powers, but clearsight, he misses her dearly so much that he tried to turn fierceteeth into her, i found a comment that said something like "in one of the books, he cried to clearsight and that he would never do the spells he did on her again", its reasonable and tell me, would you rather start a new life, or be able to remember the ones you love most?
Moon and Hope and the others will probably act like Peacemaker is cursed, and not trust him with anything and stop him from doing anything he wants to that’s remotely dangerous
Because he understood that the strawberry lead to a fate worse than death. Having all his memories and his entire existence stripped from him and basically deleted is so inconceivably far beyond cruel. Sure he would not know it but that makes it even worse in my opinion. This just makes the "good guys" in this book more like the Villain they wanted to stop.
To be honest this is just my option but i after reading darkness of dragons kinda hate kinkajuo darkstalker was prob my fav character 😢and I can’t baelive that he’s gon permantl- mind what if dark stalker puts on one of qiblies earrings me hold my bear that might work just an opion tho but realy if darkstalker put an earring on he would be back and he could enchant a stick or somthing to revers the peacemaker spell then he could take the earring and then arc 4 existits lol 😂 that’s a joke/oppion so yea hope u like it.

I thoght darkstalker wanted to do his life over, and thats why he ate it, even if he didnt say it. maybe he just wanted to give up and breathe and rest
I wrote this in a reply to another comment and decided to just comment the whole thing here so more people can see my opinion: I despise this ending with every ounce of being because Darkstalker has a lot of character development and depth, I read Darkstalker before DoD and that explains many of his actions and his way of thinking. It would've been better to have just killed him off or done something similar to what happened at the end of his legends book with the bracelet than to just turn him into a happy-go-lucky infant with no depth whatsoever. It just feels like he never existed or something, I don't really know how to describe it well. While it is sort of poetic that something as small as a strawberry had the power to end the largest threat in the entire series, it still just doesn't sit right with me. If they just explained to Darkstalker that he's being villainous by not caring about the consequences for achieving what he thinks is greatly good and moral even if the costs outrule it, then he might've changed by himself, as he didn't understand that before or look at it that way. It goes against the entire point of the series, which is the fact that nobody but you can choose your destiny.
@ The Nyan I’m not geting mad I just am on the side of darkstalker is not a evil dragon yes what he did was wrong and I get this but realy he seemed to try and do the right thing and thought that he was helping not only the night wings but all of phyria so that’s just my opinion tho.
Do you think that anyone who does bad things thinks they are evil? People do bad things with good intentions all of the time. A person’s thoughts exist, however the actions they take off of those thoughts are larger. Also he didn’t help “all of Phyrriah” he tried to kill off the IceWings with a plague.
I dislike, or I may even say HATE, that Tui T. Sutherland turned Darkstalker into Peacemaker. Although it may have been better for the whole world, I loved Darkstalker (and still do). Peacemaker just infuriates me every time I read a scene in the book he’s in. The way that Kinkajou made him half RainWing just,,,, no. I can’t express my anger for Peacemaker. Darkstalker held so much history, and now, literally and figuratively, Clearsight IS more gone than ever. Yes, he was abusive, yes he was manipulative, yes he was toxic, but I kind of slide towards those types of characters when reading books. Villains are underrated and have very good stories (if built correctly). There are no words to express how I loved Darkstalker and how I hate how he was turned into a measly dragonet. Giving the NightWings their old NightWing kingdom and showing them their sleep schedule seemed like kind of a plus. But tysvm for making this video, to talk about how he was still manipulative and abusive in many ways. No hate at all!!!
A messily dragonet that mind you can revert to Darkstalker with the right set up: Sunny could hatch a Animus, another icewing could be born or even a seawing, HELL, another Animus could be born period. We don't know how the Animus gene works, and in theory another Animus could be born and fall under Jeoboas spells loophole. For all we know the icewing could still have Animus magic blood. An Animus who casted themselves to be immune to other Animus magick could still exist who casted themself to be immune to Jeoboas spell without knowing. Like, ESPECIALLY after the Darkstalker incident. Like that story spread like wildfire, any Animus would surely want to hide themselves. There could be an icewing Animus item that was created with a spell like Jerboas in mind, and therefore could 'turn on' Animus magick again! Like literally like these all equal literally possible. Which means, any ship with Peacemaker, a diaster with the right steps.
Not to mention this makes the main characters hypocrites Darkstalker/Scarlet: *turns other dragons into someone else against their will* Main cast: that’s horrible Also main cast: *Does the exact same thing with no one batting an eye* I don’t care if they think it was for the greater good it’s still hypocritical to do the same thing the villain is doing to the villain and justify it oh ya and it felt like a lazy way to put an end to Darkstalker did I mention it felt lazy because it was lazy
@@melodysmusicaladventures596 Yeah. They should have used his magick to turn him into a statue and be unable to be turned back by any means or something. It's not even a permanent transfermation because there still is Animus magick that can undo his spell. Peacemaker isnt immune to Animus magick, but Darkstalker is. By technically logic when he passes the strawberry through his digestive system he SHOULD revert back if it's the strawberry keeping him together. Or others spell should work on him now that he isn't Darkstalker anymore technically speaking.

I feel guilty, I just realized I wasnt subscribed somehow 😳 either way thank you for always uploading! I love your videos!
Sometimes I feel like you forget that there is a BOOK throught DarkStalker point of view, and shows us how he thinks.
(if your old enough) take a shot everytime they say "darkstalker"

Honestly they've made me have a whole new view on wings of fire
I'm not sure if the story would be better if he had accepted... it just goes against his whole mentality by this point, even if it does fit the themes better.
One thing I do think would have worked better if it was Darkstalker that shut off Animus magic at the last moment.
The thing he wishes above all else is to keep his powers. It would make sense for him to retaliate in this way.
He also knows that Turtle got his powers back because of the earrings, but I would bet he could directly enchant Animus power itself and switch it off.
The earrings couldn't reverse that as its not targeting the Animus dragon.
Now replace Jerboa's scene in 14 with her struggling for hours to think of a way to stop Darkstalker
There would be plenty of ways to do it and still hit simular emotional beats.
2:27 WHAT-
Darkstalker is my fav character, and will always be.he wasn't even a villain,he was an antivillain and he is in the void with fathom, whiteout, and clearsight forever.
Darkstalker: I mean who likes strawberries that much
Me: I eat the whole punnet in a few minutes
I love darkstalker he is one of my favorite dragons so darkstalker December seems really cool
I think he's ok as a villain
Darkstalker is not a good villan also I love Qibli but if Qibli had animus he would be exactly like Darkstalker
For 2k (and this is just a thought) maybe host an art contest, like a DTA (draw to adopt) or a raffle like you already suggested.
Oh! And congrats on 2k btw! You deserve it!
I never thought I’d see a video about rejecting a strawberry
Okay but maybe *Fathom February*

If peacemaker were to put on one of Qibli's earrings, he would turn into Darkstalker, then instantly grow old and turn to dust

Your comment about Russia 🇷🇺 is funny and true
I wrote this in a reply to another comment and decided to just comment the whole thing here so more people can see my opinion:
I despise this ending with every ounce of being because Darkstalker has a lot of character development and depth, I read Darkstalker before DoD and that explains many of his actions and his way of thinking.
Honestly I think darkstalker was one of the most pathetic villains ever
@ The Nyan I’m not geting mad I just am on the side of darkstalker is not a evil dragon yes what he did was wrong and I get this but realy he seemed to try and do the right thing and thought that he was helping not only the night wings but all of phyria so that’s just my opinion tho.
Do you think that anyone who does bad things thinks they are evil? People do bad things with good intentions all of the time. A person’s thoughts exist, however the actions they take off of those thoughts are larger.
Also he didn’t help “all of Phyrriah” he tried to kill off the IceWings with a plague.
@@5rcane And the Seawings could have been next. He is evil. He needed to be stopped.
A messily dragonet that mind you can revert to Darkstalker with the right set up:
Sunny could hatch a Animus, another icewing could be born or even a seawing, HELL, another Animus could be born period.
Not to mention this makes the main characters hypocrites
Darkstalker/Scarlet: *turns other dragons into someone else against their will*
Main cast: that’s horrible
Also main cast: *Does the exact same thing with no one batting an eye*
I don’t care if they think it was for the greater good it’s still hypocritical to do the same thing the villain is doing to the villain and justify it oh ya and it felt like a lazy way to put an end to Darkstalker did I mention it felt lazy because it was lazy
The twist isn’t bad yall are just bitter over dark stalker losing
