Came across your video by accident, but was glad I did. At the 1970 Canadian GP I got to polish this car before the race. I was 14 at the time. Graham Hill was my hero. After a long season in an uncompetitive Lotus 49, he finally had a 72 at his disposal, but problems abounded, including on race morning. This is from the Motor Sport report:
On Sunday morning at 9.30 a.m. there was a 30-minutc test session for those who wanted it and while Hill was out in the Lotus 72 there was a big bang and the clutch flew apart, cracking the bell-housing and wrecking the withdrawal mechanism.
So, on that morning I found myself in front of the Walker put area, watching the mechanics scramble to effect repairs. This was a small team: Walker, his wife, three mechanics and Hill. Screwing up my courage, I offered to help by polishing the car. To my astonishment and delight, I was offered a rag and some polish, and I set to "work". What a memory. Over the years, the photos have gone missing (as have the photos of me in a Jim Russell Lotus 51 at the same circuit seven years later).
Anyway, as a builder of model aircraft, I admire your work and will be looking to pick up and build one of these myself.
    Thanks, again, for your video.

That is an awesome story Peter! I have a 1/12 scale Lotus 49B coming up as a build that I will do in the Rob Walker livery. Thanks for your comment.

I love the era of F1 (even tho "my era" was Mika's 2nd title till like early mid 2'000s - when that joke of GP with 6 cars on start happened i was already halfway out.
I am curious about things like early "wing cars" likes of Ferrari 312/67, McLaren 7a, Lotus 49B, those oddities deserve their own models.
Tho my most beloved F1 livery is Arrows A3 Rizzila (the white orange livery).
Pardon the non-sequitor i just think F1 once was admirable sport and than took a nosedive in post certain german winning his 3rd title.
There is something appealing about crazy stuff 70s F1 came up with from multiple 6 wheelers to teacup cars whole bunch of Brabham oddities. it is nice to see some of those cars in model form.

Thanks for your comments. I love the cars from the late 60s through the 70s!

@@scalemodelmaker659 no man thank YOU for making the video. 60s cars were ridiculous leap in everything racing and 70s were utter perfection in my opinion. so much development and knowledge just through mechanics rather than computers.
But i digressed .) the car in video is wonderful and i thank you for making me think back to other wonders of the racetrack's past.

How did you prepare the plastic for the paint. I always seem to have issues with Zero Paints peeling off when I remove masking.

I wash my plastic parts with Dawn dish soap and rinse them with hot water.

Great video - my Ebbro Team Lotus just arrived today.
At 2:00 you looked to be removing the chrome from the spokes. What did you use and how did you finish off the spokes?
Good decision to paint the windshield rather than apply the decal - looks really great.
    Thanks for posting

Tony thanks for your comment. I simply painted the spokes. No chrome was removed....this time.
