      They do exist. I got stopped by a cardboard police car. Then a cardboard policeman got out and tried to bollock me for doing 70 on a motorway. When I said that that was the speed limit he apologised and said that he wasn't "cut out" for the job.

  • @bbb462cid
    @bbb462cid 3 года назад +2

    Clever and classy to have the cutouts. Rest in peace, great Lotus F1 pilots and Colin Chapman. The brief era right before wings and sponsorship colors that marked F1's "return to power" is my favorite time of F1 by far.

    I wonder if they would restore the 2010/2011 Caterhams who pretended to be Team Lotus...

    • @DeployTheDRS

      Ogechi Teixeira they were lotus back then.

    • @ogechiteixeira1853
      @ogechiteixeira1853 7 лет назад +3

      They took the name Lotus, but they had no relation to the team of old, nor the car company Colin Chapman started. At least the Lotus that bought Renault before being sold back to Renault a few years later was sponsored by Lotus Cars.

    • @topebin6279
      @topebin6279 7 лет назад +1

      Ogechi Teixeira the latest lotus car had no sponsorship from lotus

    • @ogechiteixeira1853
      @ogechiteixeira1853 7 лет назад

      The whole reason they took the name to begin with was that as Renault were pulling out in 2011, they had Lotus Cars as a title sponsor. Lotus Cars remained as a sponsor in 2012, 2013, and I think 2014 as well.

    Thanks so much for this video, I absolutely am mystified by the Lotus 49, particularly when I first laid eyes on it as its original, purest form... unfortunately, as with a lot of otherwise lack of deserved recognition for many of Lotus historically significant cars, theres far too little modern content and coverage regarding it. This video is a quality exception.

    Interesting fact about the badges being changed in honor of Jim Clark

    • @bbb462cid
      @bbb462cid 3 года назад

      Clark and Chapman were nearly alter-egos of each other. They were such a team. Clark was the recognized master of his trade and his death was shocking. One of his contemporaries, I think Chris Amon, was of the opinion that if it (death behind the wheel) can happen to Clark, what chance did the rest of them have? I can't imagine how devastated the Chapman family was. I also wonder what was going through Graham Hill's mind as he helped put the wreck of Clark's car on the flatbed at Hockenheim. It is a great tribute to Clark and his legacy and influence that the badge was changed, and fitting that Hill won it all in '68. Sadly Hill would be dead in a few short years too, from an airplane accident.

    Jochen Rindt drive for Lotus 1969 and 1970 and he is the only World Champion who died before the season ended so he never felt like a Champion.
    He was uncredible fast and drive like an amaniac but he was the fastest back then.
    could have won more races

    Great stuff! But no tall rear wings! I’m sure the Rob Walker car would have had one fitted and certainly one of Graham Hill’s as well. I remember when they had Graham’s car on Blue Peter after he one the ‘68 World Championship- it definitely had a high wing then!
