He literally doesn't have a clue where to put his hands😂😂😂
So they drove 12 races with a cardboard? Nice.
Raz Hahahaha!
They do exist. I got stopped by a cardboard police car. Then a cardboard policeman got out and tried to bollock me for doing 70 on a motorway. When I said that that was the speed limit he apologised and said that he wasn't "cut out" for the job.
Clever and classy to have the cutouts. Rest in peace, great Lotus F1 pilots and Colin Chapman. The brief era right before wings and sponsorship colors that marked F1's "return to power" is my favorite time of F1 by far.
Who else is here from the AMA podcast?
This car - Chassis R/2 - is synonymous with the by far greatest driver of all times - JIM CLARK - Wonderful, a true landmark in GP history.
Had to come here after the Pitstop podcast episode. You're not as bad as you thought, very good for your first outing!
I wonder if they would restore the 2010/2011 Caterhams who pretended to be Team Lotus...
Ogechi Teixeira they were lotus back then.
They took the name Lotus, but they had no relation to the team of old, nor the car company Colin Chapman started. At least the Lotus that bought Renault before being sold back to Renault a few years later was sponsored by Lotus Cars.
Ogechi Teixeira the latest lotus car had no sponsorship from lotus
The whole reason they took the name to begin with was that as Renault were pulling out in 2011, they had Lotus Cars as a title sponsor. Lotus Cars remained as a sponsor in 2012, 2013, and I think 2014 as well.
correct
This was a cool unveiling at the Autosport show: whilst modern F1 is more my thing, seeing these classics being unveiled was a highlight, for sure.
Great to see all (well, nearly all) the 49s on display. Didn't know the badges were changed to black to commemorate Jim Clark. Thanks for this Matt. Great job.
Such great pieces of engineering and history, wish I had been there!
that's a small comment for a large creator
This is a really good channel. Amazing how a social media presence can evolve into something as professional as this!
I ended up staring at his hands the whole time
The content you guys are making so far is excellent
Really love how the channel is going
loving it so far hopefully more videos when the season start great job
Great video, always love a bit of a history lesson in F1 to appreciate these cars
#BringLotusbackOrWeRiot
Matt, just a tip (and only the tip), roll your shoulders back when standing. It might feel a little weird, but it puffs out your chest and makes you look confident.
Normal*
Thanks so much for this video, I absolutely am mystified by the Lotus 49, particularly when I first laid eyes on it as its original, purest form... unfortunately, as with a lot of otherwise lack of deserved recognition for many of Lotus historically significant cars, theres far too little modern content and coverage regarding it. This video is a quality exception.
just listened to the podcast and wow he has no Idea what to do with his hands
Interesting fact about the badges being changed in honor of Jim Clark
Clark and Chapman were nearly alter-egos of each other. They were such a team. Clark was the recognized master of his trade and his death was shocking. One of his contemporaries, I think Chris Amon, was of the opinion that if it (death behind the wheel) can happen to Clark, what chance did the rest of them have? I can't imagine how devastated the Chapman family was. I also wonder what was going through Graham Hill's mind as he helped put the wreck of Clark's car on the flatbed at Hockenheim. It is a great tribute to Clark and his legacy and influence that the badge was changed, and fitting that Hill won it all in '68. Sadly Hill would be dead in a few short years too, from an airplane accident.
Grand prix legends anyone????
here))
aye
i really enjoyed this. thanks for making this
Can't wait for you guys to visit the Maldonado Museum 😍
THE GRID F1 Just visit any race track and you will can still find parts of his car in the barrier.
lmao
Museum full of scraps
Perspective you should start a RUclips channel I think you could get 50K+ subscribers
keep on going Matt (and the rest of the team)👍
Jochen Rindt drive for Lotus 1969 and 1970 and he is the only World Champion who died before the season ended so he never felt like a Champion.
He was uncredible fast and drive like an amaniac but he was the fastest back then.
could have won more races
if only he was in the habit of securing his entire harness. His death was so avoidable.
Wow!! The 49 is my favourite F1 car!!
I know I'm a bit late saying this but, thank you so much for making this video!!
From the podcast - Wow Matt, how you've grown fella. Your ghost white sweaty face is brilliant, well done for not puking onto a polished chrome engine though ;)
4 days till FP1 😱
A perfectly proportioned, beautiful, beautiful car
The early Lotus 49(without wings) is the most beautiful F1 ever.
Great video!
Thanks Guus!
another class video
All of them cars are stunning.
In my opinion the Lotus cars from this era are the most beautiful F1 cars ever built. The current F1 cars do nothing for me (same with current F1 racing!). I like my cars with rivets.
Great stuff! But no tall rear wings! I’m sure the Rob Walker car would have had one fitted and certainly one of Graham Hill’s as well. I remember when they had Graham’s car on Blue Peter after he one the ‘68 World Championship- it definitely had a high wing then!
Gold era of F1.
Loved it!
I hope you guys make a Driver career history video, if you do, please cover Raikkonen first... Looking forward to it.
Anyone here after the AMA podcast?
Here after listening to the podcast
Beautiful cars!
jim is the most heartbreaking of tragedies. forever the pinnacle of racing.
This video commands more views... Just more!
I have so much respect for the people who drive these cars, they were driving a death trap and 'protected' by fuel tanks.
rest in piece Jochen Rindt = The best Austrian F1 driver
That's my godfather!!
Boy,
How many names of when I started following F1 races.
Beautiful cars, from an Era of Gentlemen racers.
matt is so lucky
Matt looks really interested xD
here from the pitstop channel
beautiful thing that 49, I like the 43 better though (yes I know it was crap) as well as I like it's "brother-in-law" the B.R.M P83, as they both had the most beautiful sounding engine in the history of f1 (and quite possibly ever).
Bring back the real xmattyg that we all fell in love with
Adam Alexander he needs to do what he wants, he wants to do stuff for WTF1, not xMattyG1 (anymore).
We will have go accept that, how boring the F1 community will be, we got Ben, ITB and Noble at least :)
Matt when you were doing the intro it looked it bit weird with your hands just hanging to the side.
why do i have to watch a 51 minute commercial?
they have same openings in the front like the 2017 F1 cars
WTF Presenter: What the fuck Presenter.
i wanna see a black and gold car in the 2017 season regulations
nice
Wow. That's all i've got to say. Wow.
3:47 I thought the plural of "Grand Prix" was "Grands Prix"?
Matt you need some new trousers.
Question: How do you weld a cardboard car?
Jesus wow is it just me or does Matt look way thinner here lol
i miss lotus
What about lotus Renault
Good videos, but I kinda find the generic music during panning shots (like 1:23-1:30) to be over intrusive and loud. Keeping the raw audio, or lowering the music until it's just BGM would make it a lot better.
Lotus 49 and 49 likes atm lolol
7 dislikes!? Nice
will the xmattyg channel still be used
no
Don't talk shit Jack.
what? He tweeted that it was no longer in use twitter.com/xMattyG/status/840612004536692737
Lotus = lots of truble usually sirius
xMatwtf1
Pull your trousers up Matt
FIRST
Very informative look back at an iconic F1 car - please lose the horrible annoying music.
der junge trottel hat doch keine ahnung von irgendwas
Matt, slow down when you're speaking.
