I love how her voice has matured. She has a raspiness that reminds me of Bonnie Tyler and a warble that makes me think of Stevie Nicks.
I have been disappointed that Stevie Nicks has never really evolved since the 1970's. Even the same clothes
I think she had surgery on her throat which made it more raspy
And yet not a tenth of the talent of either...

It's really remarkable how far she's come - and I feel like that's not just growing up, but how much she's worked on her technique. I always love watching your breakdowns of the performance!

Mazzy Star is a band! You probably mean Hope Sandoval, the lead singer. She was not the sole songwriter in the band (I think she wrote the lyrics for Fade Into You). Though I agree. They have some really nice songs. Too bad the arrangements for the instruments are somewhat lacking - but the singing more than makes up for that. But I do prefer Hope Sandoval's collaborations with The Warm Inventions.
@Helen Smith Hope also has a haunting, dreamy voice. Miley has a tougher tougher sounding voice with the effortless distortion.

Sam!! If you scroll this channel you'll see all of my uploads, in the beginning i was clearly an American idol reject. I had people telling me that I was tone deaf that I couldn't sing and really all I was trying to do was get it over the fear of opening my mouth and allowing sound to come out..

This is actually one of my many favorite 90's songs! I requested this on her RUclips page, I like to think she singing this one for me 😘😂 it just seemed like something she can pull off, especially with her vocal changes. She could probably pull off some STP now or Nirvana? 🤔 People will hate on it for sure, but it will drive so many folks new to rock or grunge or alternative to seek out the original versions and possibly fall in love with the genre? We have been on such a straight trajectory musically for so long, be it popular music/pop, dance music/DJ music, rap, variations thereof that rock and other subgenres have gone on the way side- at least from a consumer/listener point of view. Maybe I'm way out of touch because I'm not listening to too much radio, or have very specific Spotify search's/playlists? 🤔🤷🏻♀️ Honestly, I still listen to a lot of old music- with very very few new music sprinkled in or genres other than rock mixed in! 🤣 I have been enjoying Elle King, Dry Cleaning, the Growlers, the new Strokes album, I have also been enjoying Aurora and some Billie Eilish. I still tend to go back to older music though. Suggestions on new music is welcome ☺️

This request is entirely unrelated to Miley Cyrus, but I just wanted to let you know that you must listen to the singer Oum. There's also Oum Kalthoum, but I'm referring to the mononymous singer. She has an absolutely beautiful voice in my opinion. I'm not sure if you want to review singing in Arabic, because some of the more throat heavy sounds she uses are just the pronunciations of certain words, but i think you would enjoy her a lot. She's one of my favorite singers. A great live session is Oum Lágrimas Negras Loustic Sessions.

I love this song. Miley sang it great, but I like the ethereal quality of Hope Sandoval's voice better.
Did I just miss him commenting on going from I wanna hold the hand inside you to full on rage? It was kind of a stretch for me. The title Fade into You also implies someone so docile so Hope Sandoval’s interpretation makes more sense for me lyrically. Miley is a rad chick though. No shortage of energy there!
@@HearturMind The original is ethereal because of Hope’s voice and style. She’s got a really light smooth voice. Miley’s is a bit tougher and rougher and changes the interpretation of it.
@@HearturMind Also, you can think Hope’s interpretation “makes more sense” lyrically but then we wouldn’t have so many different covers, like Miley’s here, to show different interpretations.
