I just got the ring for my back porch & right now its $3.99 a month until it goes up to $4.99 a month and it covers both my front door and my porch, anotherwards 2 devices. Because they hiked the price I am now having to pay a month instead of a year. Totally sucks as I'm on SSI/Disabiltility. I called them but the woman on the phone sounded like a broken record and was no help at all, I ended up hanging up on her. The last time they raised the price they were nice enough to give me a credit for a month and lowered the price by $10. I just bought a ring device for the back porch and I am using the SOS feature free for a month. I just looked up the price for it & it's $200 a year! F*ck that! I will just call 911 for emergency situations.
Well I just bought a new stick up cam and came to look for a ring door bell but this has definitely made me think about how many ring devices I want to own. To be honest they really do hold all the cards on this one and should at least offer a 12 months no price hike guarantee. So I need to rethink my purchase a bit now.
I believe as of end of March you need to subscribe to use ring alarm system app (im in uk) If I buy a ring alarm system do I need to subscribe to the protect plus to activate and deactivate on app and get alert on app or can I just subscribe to basic? I don’t have cameras. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also any other diy systems you’d recommend?
Hmm, I'm not sure. I have the Ring Alarm system also in the UK, but haven't had any notifications that a monthly subscription is now required. The Ring website also seems to imply that you can manage it okay for free, but you get the cell backup and assisted monitoring if you do pay for the Plus plan. I'll keep an eye out incase the UK position has changed from this, though.

I’m having problems when I go back to look at the videos when it detects a person. I have the Doorbell video 4. My RSSI is -48. But when I go to watch the video the video plays for about 6 seconds and then freezes until the video is over. What do I do? Please help haha.
Ugh, sometimes I have similar issues. It's usually a sign of 'bad' WiFi (or bad Ring software lol). Basically even if the RSSI signal is fairly strong, there might be other issues in the network. For example, I purchased a cheap 4 disc WiFi whole home network, and this problem started immediately - with any Ring cameras on the further away discs (I guess because the signal had to 'hop' through a few of the discs before eventually reaching the router). My RSSI was showing as fine, though, because the Ring device was close to the disc. In other words, if you're having this issue: have a think about your network as a whole. Could you have issues with an overcrowded network (too many connected devices)? Alternatively, could you be experiencing an issue with whole home discs like I have? Unfortunately this issue can be tricky to fix, but it often is down to the home network.
Yes we'll get 180 days in the UK, but they'll leave the default as 30 days. In other words, on 1st July, us Brits will be able to launch the Ring app and increase from 30 to 180 days if we'd like. I'll probably keep mine at 30 days tbh, I doubt I'll need more than that.

Thanks for the comment, yes it's a pretty annoying position from Ring 😔 Many other smart cameras/doorbells offer some level of free storage.

I have voted with my feet and left. I will purchase the new Reolink door cam when it comes out next month.
That's definitely a fair approach. 👍 The Reolink Door Cam looks interesting for sure, it's nice to see Reolink expand out their product offerings.
