That thing that only charges your phone, without any data, the Data Blocker. You can potentially make your own if you have the skills. You can take a USB A male to female and just cut the 2 data cables.
Instead of that data-only dongle, users might get an inexpensive USB tester. They typically provide a charge-only port like that dongle. But they also provided over-voltage protection and the ability to measure charging current and total charge. The last is handy if you suspect your phone is no longer taking a full charge. They're now coming out with versions for USB-C.
On top of the USB-condom, carry a portable powerbank. Only ever charge your device with YOUR bank and then recharge the powerbank from any untrusted hotel/airport USB socket.

I've honestly never thought that public USB charging might be reading data. Personally I never use them, however the USB Data Blocker sounds essential if you do.
@@ItsMe-ic7on That’s my point, there’s very little reason not to assume that public usb charging facilities are compromised. So I was asking the OP why this is something they never assumed was happening when it’s an obvious security risk.
@@martinlutherkingjr.5582 I never thought about it because I've never thought about using a public charging device. I always have my solar battery bank with me and it's usually full. If I don't have that I have my own cord and plug.
I’ve just always used my wall plug when in public (tbh I don’t know if I’ve ever even seen a usb one). Also I was under the impression this had been fixed now? My iphone always notifies me when I have plugged into something that is requesting data pins.
This is great stuff. There are all kinds of things out there that work with everyday tech situations. I work for county government public works where we use many vehicles and about 7 or 8 yrs ago, they suddenly one day they decided they needed GPS tracking in all the vehicles and were going to test it first on myself and another guy who we both had specific jobs I won't say, just in case, you know. But I was pissed thinking I'm going to be watched all day. What's the point of being by yourself all day if you can't do this and that, as long as you're getting your job done. I decided to do a simple search and found alot of expensive stuff to block it, but then I came across this device you just stick in the power jack (cigerette lighter) and it claimed to stop any GPS tracking. And it was only about 10 bucks. So I bought it and it worked like a charm. I couldn't believe it, worked great. I would take it out now and then, of course only when I was where I was supposed to be and put back after a while. Did this all day. The other guy was pissed cause they were only calling him all day. So I got him one and we both did the same thing for about a month, while their techies kept trying to fix it at the computer level. And even had the installers come back a couple times to see what's wrong in the trucks. Of course they never found anything wrong and decided these things didn't work so good and were more trouble than they're worth. They never once suspected we were doing anything. I mean, what did a couple of dumb blue colors know about stopping GPS. So they told the company no thanks and to this day not one vehicle can be tracked. It was the greatest thing to see these two 10$ cigerette sized electronic devices put the lid on setting up an entire public works fleet from having GPS. We're dying to tell the other guys, but we know it will somehow end up in the wrong ears. But I'm good with that if he does, as I'm retiring in 6 months. Things move so fast these days, that I doubt they would still work with the more up to date GPS there must be out there. But I'll bet you there's advancements on those blockers as well. By no means does everything have simple answers in our new tech world, but there will always be some that do and are worth trying if they're cheap like these were. Or some cases, free. Love this guy's channel though, been learning more than I ever thought I could about privacy issues and such. Cause there are more than just information hounds out there to get us to spend money. The theifs aren't even the worse. There are some downright maniacs out there trying to do many awful things to people in this world. Conspiracy has suddenly become reality. So now free speech has become more valuable than gold imo. Well very soon anyway. Nothing more I'd like to be wrong about than that.
It’s highly likely that if you bought a $10 “GPS Blocker” that it’s something cheap from China that is just interfering with a large band of RF. Be careful with that thing, it’s super illegal and the FCC doesn’t mess around, if it causes enough interference they can dispatch people to track down the source. People that used them have parked near airports before and accidentally caused huge problems… That being said, good job keeping The Man from needlessly spying on employees!

Really interesting video! About the data blocker. There are USB cables which split up into three connections (USB-C, micro USB and lightning). These often cannot transfer any data because only the power pins are actually wired up.
@@prodffstarboy no, most devicdd have USB C and every device I own uses USB C so you don't need a lot of different cables. If you were to only have one USB C which is charging only but you need Lightning because you for whatever reason use apple, you don't need a new cable just an adapter.
It doesn't really matter. USB-flashes are not SSDs, there no any refresh/rewrite procedures in their firmware, AFAIK. Only NAND forward error correction written on inital file write protects your data on USB-flash for a while. You need to re-write data to USB-flash to make them live longer. And, obviously, do backups on case of harware fault.
THANK YOU for one thing in particular, the first item that is used to cover phone cameras. people i always talked too think im paranoid or insane. logical thinking would say if the camera on a laptop can be compromised then the same is true for our phones or any other device. ive been using electrical tape but knowing there is an actual product specifically for that... i thank you and i thank the product makers!!
I like the extra security the Onlykey affords. If I lose it or if I forget and leave it plugged into my desktop while I go to lunch, no one can get to whatever I have stored on it. It's like sandwiching a door smart-lock onto a Yubikey.
I came across this researching the Apricorn for the very idea you mentioned about the “Death File” you use yours for. A quick video for possible things you could use to add to make your own “Death file” to extend on the bullet points you already use would be good 😊
Note they can turn on your audio mic remotely, they still can listen in your conversation if they don't have visual unless you place a actually switch to disconnect your mic & cover your camera then you're 100% protected.
@@margarets4610 Not if you place a switch. You physically insert a hardware switch that disconnects one of the wires of the speaker in the circuit. This kills the component on an electrical level until the switch turns back on and reconnects it.

Just happened to see you in my feed, glad I stopped by. Already ordered the data blocker for me and my wife…..thanks, can’t wait to see what you have next…😎
One thing I like that came stock with my laptop was a slider that covers the camera built into it. It is also red so you can easily tell when the camera is covered up. It’s the little things that count haha
Not sure when they added this, but Android by default does not automatically do data connection when you plug in your phone (I assume Apple did this at some point as well). This could be enough to where you don't need a hardware USB data blocker. Then again, bugs have been found in USB, so if you are super concerned, but want to be able to charge in public, you could go for the data blocker. They also make cables that do data blocking so that you don't have an extra piece of small easily-lost hardware. Dude, you just showed us two consecutive codes for all your apps. That might be enough to reconstruct your entire sequence of codes, because the entire code sequence is generated algorithmically (that's why you do not need a data connection to get a code).
Found you today when I wanted to learn more about VPNs. Now I'm just binge-watching every video from you that sounds interessting^^ Never really thought about the public USB chargers as a security hassard, that was really interessting and the virtual credit card sounds like something that really should be more common knowledge. The data blocker is interesting and identifiable that you are protecting your data. Another possibility are cheap cords that do not transmit data but will only charge. Not as identifiable though, but would they also be an alternative to prevent juice jacking? I imagine they may be also more limited to the type of plug. Lastly, if one does not have a data blocker, is it safe to use one's own power adapter? How about if you share your power adapter (multiple outputs) with someone who also wants to charge from the same plug and/or may already be using the plug you need, so sharing would be the condition for use? Thanks for the video.
I’m not sure if this is more sophisticated than simply disconnecting the 2 inner pins of the USB-A connector or not, but a cord that only charges is the same effect. Unless someone has embedded a device in the charger, it’s pretty unlikely to be unsafe & I feel that same about USB charging outlets in public locations like airports. But.. the device is great & would be a good piece of mind to plug into your charge cable & use all the time.
I'd be very curious to know what the internals look like on that Aegis USB drive. The encryption may be solid, but a lot of workarounds for those are found in the hardware, not the software. I dig that you can enter a code to wipe the drive, however.
the data blocker can be made yourself by just covering or removing the center data pins from a usb extension cable or usb c to usb adapter .. just be sure to leave pins on the left and the right as those are the positive and negative for transferring power
Excellent advice and no stupid background music. Just an articulate speaker who is sharing his experiences with products. Truly appreciate the useful information. Keep up the great work.
Great info! learned many new things. One note from just my personal experience with the Aegis Secure Key Code USB drive, after one year of use it took my files and corrupted all of them. I bought them for my employees too and the same thing happened to them. I researched online and apparently this is a known problem for the USB drive. I just threw it away after that. Your mileage may vary but just a heads-up.
Lol... much better to use BestCrypt on phone and desktop... keylogger? Well, if you have a keylogger on either of them then you also have a rapid data stealer the moment you punched in that physical code... It'll grab and hide any data it can get its hands on, and you just gave it full access.
For the usb data block a cheaper, easier, and most easily option is to just use a cable that can't transfer files, just plug the cable from your pc to your phone and if the phone ask you if you want to transfer data, then this is a cable that let you tranfer files, if not you can use it to charge in public places.
Also, please make a video on how to obtain and set up your xfinity router in the most secure way without your ISP or anyone else from being able to get into your network.

I use Keypass to store all my passwords and where they go, and it is hidden in my USB/Flash Drive, which is very difficult to find. I don't type in the password, I copy and paste the PW for Keypass. Keypass also has autotype for inputting your PW. I enjoyed a very good video and will look into getting some of the suggestions. You have a new subscriber too. "Juice jacking" has been talked about for years but has never been recorded. Also, my current Android phone prompts me if I should allow data transfer or not...aka "charge only"
I would love if the usb data blocker came with an indicator of some sort that exposes any attempted data transfer while power charging, helps identifying potentially malicious ports
Phones should have a 'kill' code. If you input it in place of your PIN it factory resets your phone. Then if you're being coerced or forced to give your PIN, you give the kill code and instantly it wipes everything.

I'd LOVE to use a 2FA key. I bought the damned things because I thought they'd be a wonderful way to increase the security of my accounts. Then I found out that absolutely NO site that I use supports these things. It MIGHT be useful if you happen to need to log into the Federal Reserve's servers to do some multibillion-dollar transactions. But my bank did not support them, and I didn't find any other consumer banks on the list. Same with Amazon, Twitter, and Netflix -- almost NONE of the websites that the average consumer uses support YubiKey. They are great in theory but, for most people, utterly useless in practice.
@@AllThingsSecured Go to your list. Check Banks. You will find that only TWO support hardware 2FA. Finance -- none. Entertainment --1. In other words, your list shows how right I am. Thanks. Maybe instead of trying to sell people useless things through affiliate links, you should actually research the products you endorse.

I'd also suggest a powered USB hub if you're using a desktop computer. Plugging your camera and mic through it allows you to easily cut the power to them with a simple push of a button, eliminating any possibility of someone _tuning in._ Additionally, it increases the number of devices you can use.

Let me say this clearly: nobody should ever keep their crypto on an exchange!!! It completely invalidates the security that crypto technology provides.
Note:- - A USB data blocker still needs to do some data negotiation otherwise you're power will be limited to under 1A - BTW the Aegis key does not wipe the data if you enter the pin wrong 10 times, the hardware only blows the E-fuse on the data lines to the section of memory containing the current encryption key. Barring very careful physical attack that should be good enough. - Virtual credit cards are very country specific & mostly are Virtual debit cards & thus lack normal credit card protections. - Cold storage wallets that are more complex than a USB storage key have broken in the past & should be used cautiously.
Power is negotiated through the power circuit lines, no? Signalled through CC line voltage. Completely different lines than the data lines. The only thing that's able to go through is charge power and directly to the charge controller (CC). Nothing ends up on the actual data lines into the device OS on any level. It would be like if you sent data over a PC's power cord into the PSU to negotiate power... it'll never make it into your actual computer because your PSU doesn't connect/communicate with your OS directly on the vast majority of computers, unless someone is an enthusiast and buys a special PSU with USB line connecting to the motherboard for monitoring.
Because an expat brings his whole family and moves into that foreign country to stay for generations, right? Or maybe that's an immigrant and the expat goes home or some place else at the end of the contract?
I am not saying that data blocker is not working because it is but I love how they simply removed all pins/pads/connections that are used for data and left only VCC ones and called it "data blocker" like it actively blocks data :D

Romans 6.23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

That thing that only charges your phone, without any data, the Data Blocker. You can potentially make your own if you have the skills. You can take a USB A male to female and just cut the 2 data cables.
or apply nail polish on the pins inside the connector.
I just use a 20cm cable that came with my cheap wireless earbuds and only does charging lmao
Or you just use a charging cable, not a data cable. ^^
Virtue signaling with your stupid flag, gets you zero respect..shut up.
Then the data loggers no longer sell as data blockers...
Or just use the 110V adapter you already have.
who dat, what's that?
On top of the USB-condom, carry a portable powerbank. Only ever charge your device with YOUR bank and then recharge the powerbank from any untrusted hotel/airport USB socket.
I really like the virtual credit card. I look forward to more information from you.
Sounds good! I’ve got a fun video planned for later this quarter. 😎
I have Virtual Credit Cards through Revolut. Not sure if it’s available in your country through. But it lets you also create vaults, buy crypto (although not your keys…), stocks and assets like gold, etc. Think Monzo but with more features.
I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip, Adam!
I just use reloadable cards. Hop into my local store, load whatever my purchase(s) amount will be, and viola! Idk how much I trust my credit info on one site vs another, but I've not heard of this site before definitely going to check the service out!

I've honestly never thought that public USB charging might be reading data. Personally I never use them, however the USB Data Blocker sounds essential if you do.
Why would you think that?
@@martinlutherkingjr.5582 the ones for public use anybody can probably hack them
@@ItsMe-ic7on That’s my point, there’s very little reason not to assume that public usb charging facilities are compromised.
The charging usb dongle, a death file, hardware usb, and virtual credit cards. Awesome

Thanks for sharing, Alejandro!
The datablocker is a cashcrab. Just get charging only cables. They are cheaper
@@electricz3045 then u need new cables for all your devices, instead of 1 usb item.
@@prodffstarboy no, most devicdd have USB C and every device I own uses USB C so you don't need a lot of different cables. If you were to only have one USB C which is charging only but you need Lightning because you for whatever reason use apple, you don't need a new cable just an adapter.

I like the extra security the Onlykey affords. If I lose it or if I forget and leave it plugged into my desktop while I go to lunch, no one can get to whatever I have stored on it. It's like sandwiching a door smart-lock onto a Yubikey.

Note they can turn on your audio mic remotely, they still can listen in your conversation if they don't have visual unless you place a actually switch to disconnect your mic & cover your camera then you're 100% protected.
They can still access your phone even it’s “OFF”. Nothing is actually switched off
for the 'actual switch to disconnect mic' - how/where? Thank you
@@margarets4610 Not if you place a switch. You physically insert a hardware switch that disconnects one of the wires of the speaker in the circuit. This kills the component on an electrical level until the switch turns back on and reconnects it.

@@DavidLee-ik9up That, David, is the right question.
Loved the intel here, thank you!
Love the gadgets..I’m definitely schooled on safety of credit cards as well .Thank you.
I have no actual need for these but the cool factor is so high I want a few now

Thanks so much for watching, subscribing and commenting! I hope the other videos have been just as helpful to you.
I've been using ledgers for years. So far so good 👍

Great info! learned many new things.

It MIGHT be useful if you happen to need to log into the Federal Reserve's servers to do some multibillion-dollar transactions. But my bank did not support them, and I didn't find any other consumer banks on the list. Let me say this clearly: nobody should ever keep their crypto on an exchange!!! It completely invalidates the security that crypto technology provides.
If you don't own the key, you don't own the coin.
Note:-
- A USB data blocker still needs to do some data negotiation otherwise you're power will be limited to under 1A
- BTW the Aegis key does not wipe the data if you enter the pin wrong 10 times, the hardware only blows the E-fuse on the data lines to the section of memory containing the current encryption key.
EXPAT = Inmmigrant 🤣
Because an expat brings his whole family and moves into that foreign country to stay for generations, right? Or maybe that's an immigrant and the expat goes home or some place else at the end of the contract?
An immigrant relies on the new country for work. The expat does not. Big difference
I am not saying that data blocker is not working because it is but I love how they simply removed all pins/pads/connections that are used for data and left only VCC ones and called it "data blocker" like it actively blocks data :D
