Are you out of your mind? you're saying you're overpaid for 9 months? Most teachers work 10 months and getting paid for 10 months per contract. Teachers don't get paid for 12 months working 10 months. You're 15 years in and you're making 50s k range, then you look around and every mid-career salary is 100k+ then you realize that you're messed up. If you think teachers are overpaid, you're not a teacher. Don't pretend to be one.

Please watch full video. I agree we are not overpaid. Definitely not paid adequately compared to those with the same education.

I completely agree with pharmacths! Your video content seems more in line with the life of a teacher 30 years ago when I began my career as a public school educator. The U.S. education system has dramatically changed over that time frame. For too many of us, it is now unsustainable. You say " health is wealth"... let's consider that for a moment... The excessive teaching and nonteaching requirements (vacations?? Seriously...NOT), severe lack of appreciation on almost all fronts, mental and physical overload, and unfathomable, pervasive and daily behavior problems that wouldn't have seen the light of day in a classroom 30 years ago are commonplace in classrooms today. Is THAT "health is wealth" to you? For me, it's not. For these reasons, among others, I am sad to say that I would not encourage any young person to pursue a career in teaching today.... Moreover, that is why I will be retiring early. Teaching was once considered an honorable and respected profession. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore... at least not in the real world.
