I just wanna take any questions away from this situation, as unfortunate as this is, that’s a career ending injury. I don’t think anyone would give up the use of their limbs or potentially even give up living the rest of their life if it meant not playing another down of football. It’s a shame that it had to end like this, but a fractured neck isn’t something you can come back from in contact sports

There was an Arena league player that died from a neck injury during a kickoff years ago. If Deestroying's injury had been worse, imagine the NFL would use this as the case in removing the kickoff altogether.
Never would the kickoff to the NFL be removed because of a kickers poor tackle... Instead they might permit the kicker to be apart of the play after he kicks.. For example cant tackle/be trucked or anything like that
Al Lucas, LA Avengers, at the Staples Center. A blocking player's knee landed a blow to his neck. I was actually at that game as a kid and it seemed like just another play in live time. They continued on and we only learned later that night that he was dead (and it occurred to me he was probably dead when we saw him laying motionless on the turf). I believe the design of the kickoff as a play definitely played a role with how fast it was. In Dee's case, I think the kickoff plays some kind of factor, but is more due to bad form, a bit more like Ryan Shazier.
