right off the bat, pronounced it wrong. I will say this though... i pronounce it like they pronounce it in the game itself. I figure the people who made the game would put the correct pronunciation in the game. It's pronounced Auto (like automobile) Mah-tah. Auto-mah-tah or Auto-ma-ta. Just so you know :)

After playing this game, i go to hear full OST (and that was fantastic) ,search for some lore and find out that Yoko Taro put a lot of things in this game @@ all the hint, names of the characters or even weapons ,quotes all have meaning .Spending 5 days laying the game, 4 days reading lores and stories @@

Then try out the hard mode and discover that this game has one fatal flaw: the fact that the normal mode is extremely easy and completely trivialized by the healing system, that the hard mode is almost as hard as the extreme mode (on the hardest difficulty you always die in one hit, on the hard difficulty you only die in one hit most of the time), that there is no difficulty in between and that the checkpoints are horrendous, therefore making this game completely unfit for anybody who likes a good challenge.

Well Androids and Machines were later revealed to be of the same making (machine cores were main component to make android black boxes) so technically when they were eating the resistance androids they were also cannibalizing

basically in theory it would seem somewhat like a typical action rpg, with a bit of fan service, and like they said a satisfying first play through. But what this game is, is truly something different. I do believe it's best not described but there's a reason that a game without much hype or expectation has such amazing reviews across the board. And for the game where you can literally get a trophy for looking at a woman's butt, this game had no right being this fucking amazing, intellectual, and mind bending. This is why i play video games.
NieR Automata almost have 100/100 giving by the gaming comunity so yea, this surpass everyone expectation from a game that actually come out of nowhere and is even far better tham the actual trailers......
What I see in Nier Automata is what happens when you let a lunatic unleashed. I swear, this game made him look like he taught Kojima basically everything in terms of game development lunacy.
It makes MGS' backstories, tones, parts where it makes you question about shit in life, convolution (in a good way), sheer weirdness, and gameplay look like absolute crap (and I'm quite biased in terms of being in favor of MGS... just not so much on GZ, I don't want to talk about that).

@@hithummah oh it’s not much of a reference. It’s just that the game leaves you with a ton of guilt when you finish it. So it was just the play of words with guilt: I got a lotta which rhymes with automata that made it funny.

Jazzy Man Surprisingly. Compared to HZD and Zelda, it's like this game is Smosh's GOTY.
Sound, combat, story. Three large bases to cover and Nier has attempted and obtained all if not, half of each bases. Though it could be the timing. Everyone's looking for something daring, they found it first in Nier: Automata.
To be honest it does summarize my experience with Nier:automata so far. The game is greatly polished and oh boy that it make you question philosophical things.

@@vengi1468 The B of 2 B stands for Battle android. They are a balanced model made for both defense and attack. Similarly A 2 stands for Attack model while the offhandedly mentioned D and H series focuses on defense and healing respectively. There is however a secret model: The E series.
Massive spoilers ahead: The E stands for Executioner. 2B is infact 2E. An executioner modal whose sole purpose is to kill other dissenting androids. In 2B's case, she is responsible for killing and observing the scanner type android, 9S.

And all of this happened because a god from another realm opened a portal to modern day tokyo, only to get killed by a man on a dragon, who then died to missile a strike. little did modern day tokyo know the god was made out of sodium, so when the gods body disintegrated, sodium was released into the air, making a fatal illness spread around the world, which was so bad that man kind made a device that could take a human soul and put it into a clone to wait out the plague and be put back into their human bodies which were defended by androids, but the device was flawed and the clones gained a will of their own and for some reason saw the human souls as dark demon looking ghouls. So all the clones ended up killing the souls they were cloned from, therefore killing themselves, the clone Neir ended up killing the last human, in turn killing himself, leaving only Emile alive, who then had to defend earth from an alien invasion by cloning himself thousands of times, only to eventually go insane, but still kill all the aliens, mean while the androids set up to defend the human bodies gain free will, and start building more of themselves, which then leads to Neir: Automata.
All of that deserves a award, here's some pancakes🥞

Plot twist: you not actualy playing as 2B or 9S or 2A, you actualy playing as pod and record everything androids do.
I mean, you could make the argument that that is what is really going on, seeing as you do follow the pods around.

+plaguelock i never said it made me think of things i never did , it's a game that got me with the gameplay , then made me cry with certain scenes after ending B. It felt a lot like evangelion , but with even more powerful scenes and less psychology in it , i loved 9s evolution as a character , 2b's pain over her role as 2e , slowly understanding why the characters acted in a certain way on the first route and even the story of other androids and operators. as i was playing it i grew fond of the characters and when 9s went to mourn 2b or when he found 2b's flight unit i was at least sobbing. Feel free to think whatever you want

After getting the first 4 main endings, I really did start to see the pods as the main heroes...
Pod 042 is objectively the best character.

Pascal is my fav character. I got a terrible emotional breakdown during that and couldn't touch the game because I didn't want to choose between the only options I was given... The anime is gonna mess me up all over again. I was already tearing up when Nines went all homicidal in ep 19 against the machines.

That is subjective and is clearly the minority opinion usually with the basis of "its bad because i think it looks like anime"
I feel like Breath of the Wild will overall top it when it comes time to give out awards due to:
a) Having a broader/larger audience and
b) Having Zelda in the title
Personally, I prefer Nier: Automata, but you can't deny that Zelda has too much of a legacy behind it that it won't get a huge edge when it comes time to name goty.
For me Zelda is a good game but it's not really new. The mechanic is really creative and all but Nier is like a new taste that no one has ever made before. That's why for me it's better than Zelda, but yeah this game isn't perfect and Zelda is much more acceptable for wider audiences.
Rapelay is the best game of the year, regardless of when it came out.

Good thing I waited to beat the game first, this was full of spoilers. Anyway, one of the best games ever, which is kinda funny because for a bit I was hating on it, but now I realize just how much of a masterpiece it is, what a beautiful game. Also, not sure if I'd call that ai a typical ai overlord, it was definitely pretty different.

Um... everything? I was hyped for FFXV for the full 10 years, and gotta say, massive disappointment of a game, was mediocre in just about every way and was very unfinished. Story was awfully paced and not fleshed out in the slightest, world was empty and dull, side quests were atrocious, many characters had no development, only redeeming factors are the alright combat, great music, and the bros were cool, dungeons were alright, and it had a great ending, but sadly wasn't nearly as good as it could've been if the story was properly fleshed out up to that point.
Nier Automata has great combat that gets additions throughout to keep it fresh, interesting characters that have really good development for the most part, with a few exceptions, fantastic story that really makes you think and is full of fantastic voice acting and great moments, good side quests that admittedly are mostly fetch quests, but offer very interesting dialogue most of the time, beautiful music that is relaxing and peaceful, or incredibly epic, and possibly the most satisfying epic ending I've ever seen in a video game that did something never done before, and it was just incredible, honestly it gave me everything I wanted from FFXV.
If you don't like the gameplay then that's understandable, honestly I'd say it's one of the least great things of the game, which is saying a lot because the combat is great too, and the open world isn't super exciting, but it isn't needlessly large, and has plenty of fast travel points once that becomes available. You should continue playing if you want to see one of the best stories ever, it's worth it. Sorry for the long comment, but you asked lol.
Edit: Just saying, I was pessimistic about the game for the first couple of hours as well, mostly because FFXV made me scared of getting too excited about anything, but it proved me wrong in the end, it fulfilled every last bit of potential it had and more. Working on 100% the game, only annoying thing in my way is fishing... might take awhile.

Avadastro I think 3 hours is enough for a game to show what it can be. I don't think the boring shooting tiny balls or gameplay mechanics are going to changes at that point and those were not exactly my cup of tea. Especially with games like BOTW around where it takes 5min to settle in, I don't see why I would commit, just for the story at that point.

If Automata turned you into a Nihilist, you should really play NieR Gestalt. (The first one.)
Automata was amazing and had MUCH better game play, but Gestalt's story was much more gripping and brought those feels out more easily.
It starts off slow but by the end of the game, you'll be in tears.

@@returnedtomonkey8886 basically yes. They're still side characters mostly, but Popola specifically interacts with the main protagonist a lot throughout the game.

@@returnedtomonkey8886 as far as I'm aware, the only way to beat the credits without internet is to do it yourself the hard way. I could be wrong though, never did it without internet connection or without help.
Came here after watching the "Everything Wrong with Nier: Automata" video (which, ironically, got half the items wrong in a kind of cringey way). This completely made up for it. THIS is how you make fun of a game without pissing off its fans.
"Everything wrong with" has been including more BS than decent content for years.
Yet Automata is a really flawed game. Tiny openworld, lots of grind and backtracking, the story too pretentious with some of the main twists seen miles away.. Music great and fits the environments but becomes repetitive and gets on your nerves because the game is long and the amount of unique music tracks is quite small. The combat is unfairly hard if underleveled and trivial/boring after sufficiently long grinding.
It's the fans who should know how to handle jokes about their preferred games, not the other way around.

The reason this game wasn't nominated GOTY was because it would've won with ease. By not nominating it they gave a chance to other games. This game is legend tier and should be played by every gamer. I fell in love with it the moment it was announced and i can honestly say it's the best game i've ever played.
