@@etalex7074 I kind of agree. It naught just be Jenny’s loose association with “BreadTube” but the likes of her and Adum collaborating is never something I would’ve entertained... not unwelcome though.
I definitely relate to Jenny on TLJ. I recognize the film has flaws, but frankly ALL the Star Wars movies have flaws, but at least TLJ was willing to steer the series into more interesting and morally grey waters. Complain about "subverting expectations" all you want, but I'm fucking exhausted of mainline Star Wars stories being so deliriously predictable and trite, I was extremely relieved to see a filmmaker take a more critical and, yes, subversive eye towards a lot of series staples.
It also has the suicide star destroyer kill. Regardless of how much I hate the plotline involving it, (hiding info etc) when the sound drops out, flash of light, and then a LOUD boom... It's honestly my most memorable scene I've ever seen in theaters. Such a masterful shot aided by sound production. I love TLJ.
None of it worked though. It comes off as subversion for subversion’s sake. They seemed more concerned with people figuring out the twists than with writing a good story.
@@paulmartin591 Eh, I think it worked a lot more often than it didn't. Luke being a bitter old dude was great, I would have been so annoyed if he ended up being another generic Jedi mentor. Kylo killing Snoke was great. Snoke was already a budget Palpatine and Kylo had way more relevance to the audience, the characters, and the themes of the story itself. Even the lame casino heist segment did a good job of highlighting the fact that at the end of the day, the Jedi and Sith are just warring religious factions in a much, much larger galaxy, a point which was made all the way back in Episode 4 but then quickly forgotten as everyone wanted to gush about space wizards with laser swords all the time. In terms of raw storytelling, TLJ was way more successful than even parts of the original trilogy. I'd definitely watch it over Return of the Jedi any day.
@@Narokkurai But you have to fill all that negative space with something. It’s one thing to attempt to deconstruct and subvert tropes but what was built on its foundation? Turning everything grey seems clever until you have to make the audience care. TLJ seemed more committed to not being predictable Star Wars than to being good Star Wars. Same problems happened with the final season of GoT.
@@paulmartin591 What? The last season of GoT had the exact OPPOSITE problem. Everything turned generic and predictable right when it looked like it was going to go in an interesting direction. Game of Thrones succeeded early on BECAUSE it subverted the expectations and generic tropes of fantasy before it, but by the end of the series, everyone fell right back into their prescribed roles and the whole thing played out exactly the way it had been stupidly marching towards since GRRM left the project. I cared very much about the story TLJ crafted. I was glad to see a more bitter Luke still grappling with the internal struggle of being the last and only Jedi Master, and wondering if that title even meant anything anymore. I was extremely glad to see Kylo step up as the lead villain and kill off the big dumb CGI monster. I thought the way he wrested control of the First Order was interesting, and that he was right that the old order deserved to die, but his own ego and inability to accept Rey's rejection led to him becoming the same kind of dictator as before. I think TLJ actually has a lot of really good themes and has a lot to say about the world of Star Wars as a whole. It's just not a movie for morons who want to see a good guy with a glowing sword beat a bad guy with a glowing sword. It's really the first mainline Star Wars film for fans of the extended universe novels and games that did so much more with the property than generic hero fantasy.
Jenny NEEDS to be a recurring guest, PLEASE, Im BEGGING!! She fits in so so well, and the chemistry between y'all, I love how she can easily go on a friendly and interesting fangirly tangent with each of you, like the amusement parks talk with Ralph, the FurryCons talk with Adam, and the Star Wars or B grade animated movies talk with Alex, loved all those tangents so much
Jenny was absolutely great this episode, I'm not sure about the scedual but having her on for more episodes or even as a 4th member of the crew would be amazing.

Listening to this episode again, I love how she kinda won the hearts of each Sard with their respective rants. Adum and Jenny rant about how stupid Cruella was and agree with many of the same points. Alex and Jenny ranted about how Star Wars is gone from their lives forever. Ralph and Jenny shared love about amusement park rides. Jenny Nicholson. The best guest of the podcast, right next to Chris Stuckman and Marcus Cosmonaut.
Weirdest thing about Cruella to me was how they spent so much time developing her relationship with her childhood dog that never went anywhere. It was like they were trying to make her an animal lover whilst knowing that by the end of the movie she would need to be cool with killing dogs to make coats out of. They even had the fakeout scene where they made it seem like she'd killed the dalmations but then didn't. Really weird choices for a character who was originally self-actualised by her love of fur and nothing else.
Jenny is a great guest. A lot of guests I feel are a bit shy and seem a bit out of place (I love his work but Schaffrillas sounded really shy and uncomfortable when he was on the podcast) but Jenny is so funny and talks a lot that it almost sounds like she’s just apart of the cast and not a guest

I've always hated the star wars franchise and would usually fall asleep out of boredom anytime someone tried to make me watch one, but I've now found myself have really strong opinions on character arcs and production choices. She's just so persuasive
Please get jenny as a long-term part of the podcast. She's so fun to listen to
I can’t imagine how much preparation Adam needed for the intro
It’s so strange to see someone like Adam and Jenny in the same video, talking to each other.
Worlds have collided.
Why?
@@etalex7074 I kind of agree. It naught just be Jenny’s loose association with “BreadTube” but the likes of her and Adum collaborating is never something I would’ve entertained... not unwelcome though.
@@heretoschmooze348 I mean, Adum watches Vaush and guests on his videos and stuff, so it's not like they're politically disaligned,
@@heretoschmooze348 adum is pretty openly left wing
Jenny is one of the best things on this whole website.
but she said joker not good and tlj good she bad person
@@luiginastro8831 oh damn those sure are dangerous opinions for someone to have on the internet, she might as well be a serial killer at this point
@@makeitthrough_ yeah I figured they were, also idk who Mauler is in this scenario
Jenny Nicholson on Sardonicast is everything I've ever wanted in life
That art of Jenny captures her look in the Brony video thumbnail so perfectly.
Jenny could easily be a 4th co-host and it would work so well. The chemistry is great.
All my favourite youtubers together woo
I have been sitting here binge rewatching YMS and Jenny Nicholson and then I stumble across this. RUclips recommendations... ya done good.
It's really the first mainline Star Wars film for fans of the extended universe novels and games that did so much more with the property than generic hero fantasy.
literally the most ambitious crossover
God Jenny is literally one of my favorite people on the internet, and this is a very good episode.
This podcast always has such great chemistry with the guests! Jenny, Amanda, Marcus, etc. should become regular guests.
I really liked the dynamic with fantano a well
And Schaffrillas
Jenny NEEDS to be a recurring guest, PLEASE, Im BEGGING!!
She fits in so so well, and the chemistry between y'all, I love how she can easily go on a friendly and interesting fangirly tangent with each of you, like the amusement parks talk with Ralph, the FurryCons talk with Adam, and the Star Wars or B grade animated movies talk with Alex, loved all those tangents so much
Best sardonicast guest yet, I hope she takes part again in the future.
We LOVE Jenny in this house. Best collab
Jenny was absolutely great this episode, I'm not sure about the scedual but having her on for more episodes or even as a 4th member of the crew would be amazing.
Please have jenny on again. Her personality is perfect for this podcast
My favorite thing about Jenny might be that she often seems ironic at first and it turns out she's actually that excited about something. Dead pan excitement.
Now I almost feel bad for the laughs I had when she mourned for Star Wars.
Deadpan excitement haha 10/10
This is the only episode I watched with no skips because Jenny Nicholson is such an amazing person
Jenny is the best guest you've had so far, she's delightful and I'm going to sub to her channel now
Jenny Nicholson on Sardonicast is a match made in heaven
Honestly Jenny's video about the book Trigger Warning still makes me laugh years later. I've listen to the whole video several times
My day today:
“Yay new Sardonicast!”
“Aww feck a guest. I hate those episodes.”
*Spends a few hours watching a brony documentary & a weird hallmark diy analysis by said guest•
“Holy fuck I am actually in awe of how good her videos are!”
•proceeds to excitedly listen to the newest podcast episode wiser and way more excited than before •
Good catch, horseman and his less cynical friends podcast (AKA Sardonicast)
the hallmark video was a fabulous choice
Welcome to the Jenny Cult lol
I also recommend the Giant Spider road trip video. It helped me a lot in quarantine when I was missing the outside world
This was fun, Jenny took fucking over
She should be permanent. Great chemistry with da bois
Yey, Jenny! Always with the really astute observations on media, and a welcome addition to the mix here.
Let's have Jenny back for that Spiral episode.
Jenny is a great guest, her energy matches the podcast very well
Listening to this episode again, I love how she kinda won the hearts of each Sard with their respective rants.
Fuck yeah! Jenny's the best, and I'm so glad to see her here!
Why doesnt cruella wear any fur coats in the film, when shes obsessed with fur in the first place
Shut up, consume product then get excited for more products
@@luiginastro8831 very cool
Disney's "Hitler: The Story behind his Struggle"
Jenny’s the best guest they’ve had so far, easily
Jenny should definitely return. Or just become a permanent fourth host.
Jicholson is definitely the most unexpected guest on this podcast yet
I don't know if Jenny has done Sardonicast episodes before, but she's the most natural guest for the show
Fantastic choice of guest, would have never expected that combo
Also Best Sardonicast so far completely engaged from start to finish...
26:27 the way adum and Ralph talked over each other only to say the same word in sync was amazing
This was the best episode yet, Jenny was great. This was even better than the fantano and critikal episodes.
Man i would love Jenny to come on another episode. There was such a great dynamic here
Jenny is a great guest. A lot of guests I feel are a bit shy and seem a bit out of place (I love his work but Schaffrillas sounded really shy and uncomfortable when he was on the podcast) but Jenny is so funny and talks a lot that it almost sounds like she’s just apart of the cast and not a guest
SO THIS IS WHERE JENNY HAS BEEN
HORSE GIRL! This is already my favorite episode.
S Tier guest. Jenny should definitely return some time.
Jenny Nicholson is one of the most reliably compelling reviewers on the platform, even when she’s not talking about something I’m interested-in.
The 101 Dalmatians movie from the 90s was written by John Hughes. Same dude who wrote Home Alone. That might explain why it had said vibes.
wow that makes it worse weirdly lol
@@Jo-bs2uu Yeah, because it makes John Hughes seem like a huge hack fraud who had one idea.
Same dude also directed “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, “The Breakfast Club”, and “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”.
@@richesmovietrailers953 also baby's day out
@@mixmastermind he didn’t direct that one, only wrote it.
I NEED a Ralph/Jenny Theme Park podcast in my life.
I love that there is a slight overlap in a good way like you're with friends and want to talk about many things like "so many topics popped up and so little time" vibe.
im incredibly excited for Jenny's eventual Swan Princess breakdown. finally a broader audience will see the uncanny joy of A Swan Princess Christmas
Now that IS my idea of fun
- Jenny, can you present your channel?
- Yes, I once bought a giant Harry Potter' stuffed spider.
In which fur, is uh...well sewn to a trout not to put too fine a point on it
Ralph is right, Universal's Spider-Man ride is beyond S tier for me. Best theme park ride ever in my opinion.
This inspires me to create, listening to Jenny talk about her art. Thank you, Sardonicast ❤️
Ralph: Doesn’t pick up on the eating disorder allegory. Proceeds to say he’s giving it 7/10 because the eating disorder allegory was a “little too much”
Perfect guest to have on to talk about Cruella 👏
I was sat in A&E with a massive head injury a few weeks ago and a random stranger came up to me holding a blood-soaked napkin and a laptop and asked me if I wanted to watch Cruella with her. We watched the first half of it and then I passed out and got taken away. The movie was still the worst thing that happened to me that day.
