Yay!!! Because of your kindness and talents, I have just finished my first shawl!!! I used this pattern and one cake of Mandala Mermaid Cove yarn (all I had of that colorway). I used an H hook, and ended up with 37 rows, counting from the first 'solid' row. It has a 58" 'wingspan', and is 29" down the center back. It is a birthday gift for my daughter--tomorrow!! I was so uncertain that it would be big enough, but I think it will work well for her. Your tutorial was super easy to follow, and I love all of your videos anyway--you have the best, happiest, most endearing personality, and your sweet spirit just shines through. I love to learn with you--and smile the whole time, too! Thank you, Holly!!

Thank you for this tutorial, I have been searching for a simple, yet great looking shawl pattern that as an advanced beginner I'd be able to make! I've seen the Caron Big Cakes in many lovely colorways, but a little price-y to have to buy 2 to make anything worthwhile with other patterns. Thanks again- I'll be subscribing to your channel for more of your great ideas!

Hey Holly, what a really simple, but pretty pattern! It's the kind of pattern that allows the yarn to be the highlight....love it. I know you're a busy lady; juggling a family (including fur babies), home and RUclips channel, not to mention all your social media networking commitments. Anyway, just a quick tip....seeing that your hands are constantly in view (and quite magnified) you should probably make sure your hands and nails are really clean. Anyway, I totally love your channel! I 💖 🍍 too!!!

One thing I wanted to note (because I had been doing it wrong)... When doing the last 2 stitches of a solid row (the increase), make sure you are stitching into the top of the ch3 from the previous row, and NOT the ch1 space. You'll be stitching into what was originally a ch4 (DC + ch1). If you stitch into the ch1 space it won't look as straight as it should be. I hope that makes sense.
