Please don’t add sugar, two reasons, it ruins the authentic taste of the tea, second it will become a habit, your health will be at risk. The gentleman in the video seems to understand what I am talking about, if you cannot taste the tea leaf, you aren’t drinking tea.

Two of my favourite foods in winter in Turkey are, Güveç (goovech) a lamb or beef stew. You should be able to get that in Cappadocia. In İstanbul definitely have Hamsi, small fish (Anchovies) coated with cornflower and fried, served with salad and bread, you eat the whole fish bones and all. They are traditionally served with Rakı. You can't miss it in Istanbul in the winter, especially down on the waterfront.

The purpose of serving a cup of water with Turkish Coffee is based on Ottoman culture. Turkish people are very hospitable and they always serve their guest Turkish coffee, if guest drinks firstly water it means s/he is hungry so they host for dinner , but if s/he drinks coffee first it means s/he is not hungry and is coming to chat.

If you don't have a corkscrew, you can actually open a corked wine bottle by slipping it into your shoe and hitting it against a flat surface, and/or by smacking the bottom of the bottle with a hard soled shoe. Have you ever heard the word "Fal" ? The meaning of Fal is Fortune. You can read about your future from the pulp at the bottom of the Turkish coffee cup. Sometimes it may not be realistic, but it is very enjoyable. A proverb says, "Do not believe in Fortune, but do not be without Fortune."

Certainly in south-west turkey, they put a lot of sugar in the tea. And yes, you stop at the coffee grounds, you don't get many sips!

I live on the outskirts of Chicago. Since my parents are immigrants
from Romania, I've been drinking Turkish coffee ever since I was about 13. You can get it imported in downtown Chicago from authentic Eastern European shops. Love the taste.

I lived in Istanbul for 2 years, when you get there you should try traditional Turkish breakfast in çihangir, some amazing breakfast places near the mosque on the hill there, also amazing kebab place next to the mosque, and in beyölgu there’s an amazing little secret garden bar / restaurant called limón lebaçe, also try raki Balic on the back streets of taksim amazing mezze and sea food ... good luck 😍

The tea fact was interesting to learn, I thought it'd be China, Japan, or England at the top. Also I think you were supposed to let the coffee grounds settle to the bottom and not stir coffee. While the coffee is think with grounds, the goal is ultimately to drink the coffee with no grounds floating around. I really enjoyed the video, thanks and keep up the great work. :D
