The Watercolour Quick Fix is a short video focussing on sorting out a single problem we all experience from time to time as watercolour artists. Today follows on from last week's quick fix introducing you to painting perfect petals. How it's all about how to paint a perfect petal shape with a smooth and seamless colour blend.

I love that the petal looks so delicate. If I needed it to be darker, how would I go about doing this? Would I wet the whole petal and add repeat the process or would I build the color of the petal and then add the pink when the petal is darker? Thank you so much sharing this informative video. I will be watching more of your videos because this one is so helpful.
I really love how you show the successful version first before going into the pitfalls to avoid - really helpful to have the comparison up front 👍
Ah thanks. I was wondering if I was doing it the wrong way round!
This was the perfect illustration of how much water you need! Thanks! Ive been struggling with this.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, Harriet, so helpful as always. Would love a possible follow up on how to deepen the colours on the first petal with a second pass without messing things up. :)
Yes that’s a good idea

I've been struggling with amount of water, and this tutorial has really helped. I've painted lots of petals to practice and I think I've finally got it! Thank you for your help:-)
Glad I could help!
Great tips for painting petals! I love drawing flowers but have only painted one botanical painting so far :)
Glad it was helpful!
really enjoying these quick tips Thank you Harriet
So glad!
Thanks for the helpful tips 👍
You’re welcome!
Hi Harriet. I'm so glad to have found your channel as I find your tutorials most helpful. I do have a tip for those who find blending difficult. I live in a hard water area and so use Ox Gall Liquid as a wetting agent to improve the flow of the watercolour. For those not familiar with this, you simply add a few drops to your water pot and it acts very much like washing up liquid without the bubbles of course. It's readily available from art supply stores quite cheaply and it really does help. I'm not technical enough to provide a video but I tested the difference with and without and the results are outstanding. I don't know if you could demonstrate this to your viewers but I find it a great help with all my wet in wet work. Many thanks for your excellent videos.
Thanks for the tip!
As always love your videos and tips!
Thank you!

Thank you. X
You’re welcome 😊
Wonderful instructions thank you. I finally made it work. !. However if the base of my petals are wider (where they meet the flower centre ), than this teardrop shape, how do I make the paint flow wider, edge to edge ?. Hope that makes sense. Thanks so much.
Its all about practise!
So helpful - thanks! Should we put the paper on a slight incline?
My techniques are all done on a flat surface
How do you create shade on a 2 color petal? I've been working on white and yellow plumeria petals, trying as many methods as i can think of but it never looks natural
Build up the colour slowly
