Thank you ever so much, Harriet, for showing how to pick up the excess paint. That was exactly the question I was going to ask you to show and was so happy to see you sharing it here. I kept getting blotches and blooms when trying to do it.
@@waymire01 thank you. I have good brushes. I think the issue is more the paper. I practice alot so use a non cotton but good studio paper. I tried a cotton paper and it is not so much an issue with that paper.
Thank you for these wonderful “quick fixes” that focus on just one aspect. They are well done and very helpful (people can now recognize what objects I’m painting!).
Thank you for these great tips and inspiration! I’m new to watercolour and bought your book as I love your style and tutorials here - they really help beginners, most detailed and helpful explanations to demystify this medium. Thanks and hi from Belgium!
Very, very useful, many thanks. I obviously need more brush control as I struggle to stop the brush tip pinging out when tapering in at the end of the stroke!
Love that your a lefty too!! But, I'm I the only one who's literally cried trying to create one painting with ALL leaves stems an flowers in tact? Few months on with painting an Love it but I'm aching for just one painting in perfection. Haha a friend says.... Let go, in the end it is the water an paint in control.

Thank you for this great lesson. What kind of brush are you using that has longer brush hairs... (is that how to describe that?) I do have a “Rigger” brush that helps paint long lines, but yours is thicker. I hope I’m saying this correctly!
I used a lot of paper for the leaves. 😁 I manage to get a straight blade, and that's it. Sometimes it is possible to paint a beautiful leaf. It seems so simple. I have trouble with the brush. I have trouble starting the brush on the paper to make the start. Sometimes things suddenly go well. Do you have another tip? Thank you so much! BTW I recieved the brushes! They look great!
Hello Harriet, received your beautiful book for my birthday today and am really looking forward to working with it and watching your great videos ... Since I like to post my pictures on Instagram just to show them, I will be happy to use your hashtag #harrietdewinton ... Best regards Edda
Excellent video and thanks for doing this. I hv done many painting leaf tutorials and brush control courses on Skillshare..but still have the blob at the end plus back run issue for the vertical stroke, C curve and S curve. Blotting the brush and picking up colour after each stroke means taking twice as long for leaves with 2 strokes. Does brush type or quality make a difference?
Your sense of humor is so dry and witty. Thank you😄.
Oh thank you!
Just found your channel, being a lefty myself it's wonderful to find ways other lefties work their brush strokes.
Thank you!

Hi Molly, I'm using a 'pointed round' brush which is really versatile

It can do. Also the speed at which you paint can also have an impact
May I know how to buy your book?
