Top Five Tips to Paint a Watercolour Peony
Flowers and Foliage episode 55: Top Five Tips to Paint a Watercolour Peony
Peony season will soon be upon us so let's get ahead of the game. Starting with my top five tips, I have broken down how to paint a 3/4 angle open flower. We will be doing a full peony project soon but this is the perfect place to start!
The subject of this tutorial was suggested by one of my Patreons. My patreons can choose the subject matter of 4 of my RUclips tutorials each month!
If you've loved learning with me on RUclips and want to enjoy a more interactive and tailored watercolour experience, here is a very special sneak peek at a few of the watercolour tutorials you can expect to find if you sign up for the Sweet Pea or Cherry Blossom tiers. bit.ly/3r0Ooxf
Soundtrack composed by Taran Stormes Martino
    Paint:
Winsor and Newton Artist Quality - bit.ly/3dJHarN
    Pro Arte Masterstroke Series 60 size 2/0, 6, Connoisseur range size 12 - bit.ly/2LCtli6
Paper Daler Rowney Aquafine cold-pressed paper - bit.ly/3cmQSzn
You will also need a pencil and a rubber

Colours we used (link below to buy paint tubes)I am going to name these in terms of the colours I am familiar with:
    Alizarin Crimson
    Permanent Rose
    Cadmium Yellow
    Green Gold
    Cadmium Orange
Don't worry if you don't have all these colours, you can look at my colour chart episode (bit.ly/30r7stq) to learn how to mix your own shades from a simple 12 pan student range palette.
I'd love to hear your suggestions for things you would like to learn how to paint in the comments below.
I'd really appreciate it if you like and subscribe as well as visiting my website de Winton Paper co (bit.ly/2ZgRlj8) for watercolour kits, worksheets, and my watercolour book 'New Botanical Painting' (bit.ly/3dWBsD3).
The book has been produced in a number of languages and an Americanised spelling version, click the link to buy the book in your preferred language:

Harriet - I've tried to follow a few peony tutorials, but must say that your 5 tips gave me my best result yet! I have a bit of practice to do, but showing the mop brush, the drawn line to anchor, it's all so helpful! Thank you Harriet. You are my favorite wc artist.
