  • In this video I continue my Megadeth journey with Polaris.
    I thought this song was extremely awesome. I think the contribution of each member made this song perfect. But my all time favorite contribution on this track was the drumming by Nick Menza. I felt his drumming gave this song the rhythm to keep my adrenaline pumping!

      Peace Sells is the poor man's version of Rust in Peace. It would be moving backwards (why go from a mastered version of the style on Rust in Peace to the inferior Peace Sells) "Countdown to Extinction" is a much better choice and manages to be heavy and melodic at the same time. I remember it was the spring of 90 I was 16 and I discovered this Tape at the record store and bought it. I carried this album around with me at school and would tell everybody about this great album. When school got done I would find my friend with the killer soundsystem in his cars and we would rock out to this greatness. Still in 2019 it never gets old. A timeless masterpiece that stands the test of time. Dave Mustaine is a musical genius. I've seen Megadeth 12 times live since 89 and they never disappoint. If you ever get the chance go see them live, it will be a event that you will never forget. It will be life changing. It was for me when I first saw them live. Changed my whole outlook on Heavy Metal. Before Megadeth I liked Metal and after I discovered them it solidified that im a Metal head. You should check out some of their older stuff to like Mary Jane, In My Darkest Hour the riff for that was inspired by the death of Cliff Burton. My Last Words and Good Mourning... Black Friday are crushers. The Conjuring and Bad Omen are real good. Five Magics on RIP is very underrated. But the best version to listen to is the original recording from 90 not the 2004 remaster. The remaster is horrible sounding. Too much EQ and he had to re record some vocals. I still have my copy of the original.

      I bought this album (tape) and... And Justice for All from a classmate around '91. Changed my life. I had no idea really what I was listening to but I immediately loved it. Especially Megadeth, I bought all their previous CDs and Countdown soon after but stopped there. To me, they changed too much after that album.

    • @alexroyster182
      @alexroyster182 4 года назад +4

      @@chuleta1976 when I first heard Countdown I was initially pissed off because it wasn't as badass and fast as RIP. I took back the CD that day it was released and later that week a buddy of mine and I ate some mushrooms and he told me we need to go back to the Hastings and buy it again and you need to listen to it and give it a chance. So while we were waiting for the shrooms to kick in I bought the Countdown to extinction CD and we played it over and over in his badass car stereo and I was really tripping balls by then and was saying Holyshit this album is brilliant! Going into my senior year in 92 that album was the goto. Too bad that freaking achy breaky heart bullshit was number one because Countdown Should have been. Anyway I still like Megadeth and all of their albums with the exception of Risk and The World needs a hero is ok but not that great. They did change but every time I saw them live thru all their changes musically and the line up, live Megadeth always delivered. I saw them last year open up for the Scorpions and they just wiped the floor with them. The scorps were still great but Megadeth was firing in all cylinders and blew me away. My favorite megadeth era isfrom 1986-94. Perfection in Metal.

    many Thanks for reacting to metal music. in general, and this , in my opinion megadeth's iconic album. in particular. i have been a headbanger for as long as i can remember and its is so frustrating to have such rich genre of music always take a back seat to all others regardless of merit. i also notice you have a taste for symphonic metal. in that case i recommend bands like rhapsody of fire, galneryus and symphony x

    This is definitely one of my favorite Megadeth songs. Let me tell you how Rust in Peace (the album) became my favorite metal album of all times due to this song in particular. I discovered Megadeth in 2002 when I was 16. I am from Brazil and, as always, metal was not exactly popular down here. So, if we wanted to buy a CD from a metal band that was not Iron Maiden or Metallica (bands that were "popular enough" for the labels to decide to print their CDs in Brazil), for example, we had no choice but to acquire imported CDs, which would cost me all the money I had for a month. Thus, my friends and I used to first download the songs of a given band through softwares like Napster, Kazaa, Emule and only after we were 100% sure that a certain band was worthy, we would then spend our limited cash to buy that band's CD. Well, back in 2001/2002, when you searched for a given bands song in one of those softwares like Kazaa, you would get MP3 files named such as "Metallica - One", or "Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills", following the pattern "Band name - song name". Therefore, when I was "discovering" ("downloading" cough, cough) Megadeth I had a folder filled with individual songs in MP3 format like "Megadeth - Hangar 18", "Megadeth - Holy Wars", "Megadeth - She Wolf", with no information whatsover about from what album each song come from. The thing is that, from all the Megadeth songs I have downloaded, after one year I had my personal Top 5: "Megadeth - Holy Wars", "Megadeth - Hangar 18", "Megadeth - Take no Prisioners", "Megadeth - Lucretia", and "Megadeth - Tornado of Souls". I thought these songs were awesome, and somehow had a magic element that other Megadeth songs did not have. I did not know all these songs where from the same album. To be honest, I only found out that these 5 songs were from the same album 2 or 3 years after I had establish my top 5 best Megadeth songs. What was my surprise at the end of 2004 when I found out that, not only all my favorite Megadeth songs were from the same album, but also there was one extra major song, which beared the same name of the album: "Rust in Peace". After I found out all these 5 songs belonged to the same album, Rust in Peace was already one of my favorite albums ever. I recall I that my expectations were very, very high when I finally got to listen "Megadeth - Rust in Peace" for the first time. After five minutes listening to that song, I was completely baffled that Megadeth had surprised me again: not only Rust in Peace was a great song, it was a thrash metal master piece, I had no choice but to turn my top 5 Megadeth songs a top 6. So, not only all my favorite Megadeth songs back then were from the same album, but this album was so damn good that it made me discover another thrash metal jewel "Rust in Peace... polaris". After discovering this last song, "Rust in Peace" became my favorite metal album of all time, and still is. Like a good wine, Rust in Peace is aging very well. If you google now "best metal album of all times", Rust in Peace will appear among the very best, where it belongs.

      Wow incredible story. And yes, I do remember the limewire/Kazaa days when you didn’t have albums just folders of random mp3s of a band not what album it came from. I also agree that Rust in peace is an incredible album. I’m enjoying track on here so far.

    The whole album is excellent, every single part, solo, riff, bass-line, drum-line, all of it! I've been listening to it since 1991 on cassette and still have that cassette, now also CD and MP3 as well. Rust in Peace and Peace Sells are by far the best Mustaine and Co did for my money. Both albums from start to finish are masterpieces. Years ago I burned them both onto 1 CD for my car and it makes a regular rotation along with Rage Against the Machine, And Justice for All, and Vulgar Display of Power.

    After this one you should listen to Peace sells(1986) and after that so far so good so what(1988)
    Also aside from the great musicianship on Rust in Peace we must also give just as much credit to the producer and Engineer. For helping those guitars sound crunchy, Dave's voice sound punchy, and the drums and bass sound heavy. In terms of sound quality, Rust in peace was far better than their previous albums(and many other metal albums by other bands) This album was also the first time Dave Mustaine got clean(it didn't last long) but they were given a really big budget to make the album and they didn't blow it all on drugs this time

    First vid I saw of yours was the "Lucretia" video. Rust In Peace came out about the same time as Metallica's Justice, and Black, albums. Mustaine from Megadeth, and Cliff Burtin, Metallica's long deceased bass player, wrote most of Metallica's early stuff, and they recorded it after Mustaine was kicked out of Metallica, and formed Megadeth. Megadeth is very close to top 1 of metal bands, of all time, and Rust in Peace is probably the best metal album of all time. You should do Countdown to Extinction, for your next Megadeth album.

    Love Megadeth, but time for some Iron Maiden to keep expanding your metal experience. Flight of Icarus, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, 7th Son, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Wasted Years, Powerslave, Infinite Dreams. Just pick one, you won't be disappointed.
