For those that are curious. The UGM-27 Polaris missile was a two-stage solid-fueled nuclear-armed submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM). As the United States Navy's first SLBM, it served from 1961 to 1980. Now replaced with the Trident family.

Such a good crazy thrash song classic. God I love it so much. They’ve never played it live besides the rust in peace anniversary tour in 2010 I believe? Please react to the new Megadeth single We’ll Be Back!

I am a metal head. Grew up cutting my teeth on all these kinds of thrash bands. I hold a PhD in the Philosophy of science and most of my pals from school who were into rock and metal were the quieter / smarter nerdy types. They mostly went to University and flourished in careers or whatever took their fancy. You can't generalise, Sori - it's offensive. The same with your comments about the Church community. My mentor, the Right Honourable David Jones (a vicar) - was an intellectual giant. He introduced and taught me on theological affairs, theosophy, the Philosophy of religion and so on. It is one thing to speak from YOUR experience but in mine - the dance music / pop fans had brains the size of amoeba and turned into addicts, drop outs and so on.

Also it was.mostly metal / rock bands writing about social ills, anthropology, historical events and their interpretative stories, spiritualism, religion, political / criminological and sociological stuff too. So this lent itself to even more articulate and intelligent rock and metal fans....

The Best Megadeth song, to me anyways, along with Take No Prisoners. Song is "Rust In Peace...Polaris" though guys. Megadeth have about 10 songs with ellipses in between words.
The riffs are so evil sounding they reach Slayer levels, while being really fucking hard to play (took me a good 3 weeks to master the song, just the chords and rhythm, not the solos, good god, and Marty is dueling with Dave too, something I really enjoyed when they did, too bad they only made one real thrash record together (this one), although I've seen Marty live with them post Broderick era...maybe he recorded with them, but the only album of the 21st century I really like from the 'Deth is "The World Needs A Hero" from 2001, came out before 9/11, unlike Slayer's God Hates Us All being released by big wig record execs on that exact date for some reason...
Anyways, Sori when she was being disappointing towards not giving Five Magics a 10 (I think she doesn't understand how Megadeth and a lot of thrash often relies on atmosphere and evil single note series and not just heavy power chords) asked for a Megadeth song that kills from the start to end...that is one! Now that you got a taste of it....do "Take No Prisoners"....hah

Sori is close to right, Megadeth fans are for sure politically minded, informed and generally more thinking group of people... Metal not so much widely.. There are others who fit into this realm of course.. Megadeths wheelhouse is politics, war, conspiracy, questions.. Anger.. Real anger. Deeper anger..
I tend to find most other bands don't tend to cover topics so much as feelings about something.. Slipknot for example tend to come from a emotional place.. Feeling lost.. Misguided.. Something like that... Megadeth itself will deal with censorship, tyranny, murder.. Mass murder.. Curses.. Biblical theory and scripture.. Megadeth is special in that regard.
I like to use Kill the King as an example for the depth of a Megadeth song.. You have a surface take after listening to it.. Then if you dig into what kill the king means as a term and thing.. Its a real thing.. A elite move to remove a leader and install their own... The song deals with it in the rawest sense... Kill the King... The King is Dead... Long live the King.. I am the King!.. That is a art nobody else does but Mustaine and Megadeth serious topics... Informative topics... Songs that encourage you to educated and grow.. What is Megadeth actually achieving by informing you?.
I have encouraged however lots of stoner Metal heads that are far more into the music as music not as something beyond listening to it.. I had lots of friends who were into hair metal bands and Motley, Skid, Extreme.. They liked those players.. They liked the cheese it was their shit.. I was the Megadeth guy and was the odd one out because I'd like to talk about something like governments betrayal of its people.. The deceitful actions they engage in.
They had no interest and would win most arguments with numbers.. They respected the music though.. I've still encouraged people who push back against Megadeth because of its topics.. They seek to diminish or mock the topics or what the song implies to them on a surface level.. This was especially the case around United Abominations and Endgame.. And then a few tried to do with Dystopia as well... These elitist ass licking clowns are text book in their excuses to hate Megadeth.. Oh they referred to the bible boooo... Oh they dealt with war or death in some manner.. Boooo they can't do that and be Christians.. Deal with 'conspiracy' or historical records boooo crazy right wing conspiracy republican.. You pay enough attention to the reviews around their new album you'll see them do it again.. As he points aim at real shit the system doesn't want to talk about.. On the last album they called it 'xenophobic' they pushed their garbage politics into the space Mustaine gives his songs to be interpreted more how the listener wants as well as his message as well.. Death From Within they called anti-immigrant lol.. Its a song about the stealth attack on Troy with the wooden horse ect.. You can interpret it many way in a modern sense.. But they want it to only be their way.. That failed but the haters were happy they got a few simple folks to hate not think.. Discuss do own research and educated on subjects more boardly.. No.. Hate and ignore all words just hate... A sad reality that has now spilled into wider life as this reaction to challenging media or thought has become common at least online.. And sometimes more visibly.

Megadeth's technical abilities had surpassed those of their peers in Metallica, Exodus, Anthrax, Slayer, etc... Former bassist David Ellefson recalled that playing 'Rust in peace' was so musically demanding... Few poseurs would dare attempt these kind of Megadeth tracks.
Heavy metal can get political cos lyrically, anything goes... the only genre where we can express our thoughts on murder, suicide, nuclear war, death and satan... without any boundaries.
I do draw the line on hate speech, white supremacy, and promoting misinformation, racism & fascism.

It's too bad they only this one record with Marty that was thrash. Maybe they thought they outdid themselves? Because although Countdown isn't bad, it isn't great either and it tries to be groove metal a bit too much and Dave's singing is poppier. No comment of the period after that up to Risk. The World Needs A Hero is back to thrash and yeah, it isn't all great either, but the songs that are good, are so, massively. The guy he had instead of Friedman is a regular heavy metal virtuoso named Al Pitrelli and he makes the album real interesting at times. Then after that it's been up and down. Only Slayer and Overkill in the American scene managed (Slayer more so) to put out at least 4/5 records after 1990, Divine Intervention (do this song guys, it's written by Araya and acknowledges God!) plus it's one Slayer's long 6 min+ epic song with probably their best solos, both Hanneman's and King's) is criminally underrated, but it's gained popularity with time, same with the doomy Diabolus In Musica. We were difficult then as kids, sometimes, I now realize.

"Misinformation" doesn't exist dude. It's a made up word that the TV has drilled into your head.
Facts exist and opinions exist. The system calling something misinformation now, is the exact same as the Pope calling something heresy 100 years ago. Note, anyone non-catholic was a heretic.
Surprised to see a comment like that on a Megadeth video honestly

Death Angel is another American thrash metal band that has put out a string of quality records since reuniting in 2004.
Exodus has also put out their best thrash metal music since 'Tempo of the damned' in 2004.

It's worth noting that most many metal 30+ years ago came from Los Angeles CA area and the music scene was very counter-culture, f the system type at the time. And war/destruction is a common theme in metal. And thrash metal was new in the late 70s, and it was a time when more complex instrumentals/song structure were appreciated. Also Vietnam War was ending, and veterans were not well treated when they came back. Many people were extremely critical of war/foreign policy, and it makes sense to see alot of the overlap in music lyrics.

Seriously, do "Take No Prisoners" next, from the same album where Megadeth reached a level they never did ever again. Sori asked for one 'Deth song that was goes hard the whole time....well you've got one, too bad it's not viewed by Mustaine as a song to keep in the setlist at all times. Now that you've heard this one, you'll be crazed out by "Take No Prisoners".

Not sure if you're confusing successful musicians, who generally are quite socially opinionated and open-minded with stereotypes of metalheads who listen to their music. We're all quite regular really. We care about the world we live in. I mean, it was not so easy in the 80s/9os being a metalhead with the parents, with the school, but now we're weirdly retro cool..and I couldn't care less either way, didn't then, don't now. Lettuce bee..

I love the idea of this song, the perspective being from the missile’s view instead of humans. As for Metal and politics, the two go hand and hand, along with drug abuse and other topics too “PC” even before pc was a thing. Only in Metal music can the artist write about these subjects openly, since most non Metal loving people seem to live in their own little world where reality does not exist.

It's funny that you bring up intelligence and metal. I think it's because we are "counter culture" enough that we can't really sing about love and other pop nonsense.. so that leaves politics and real crap. The stuff we see in the real world.
I remember being in school, and being told to question everything because thats how we learn. Now, nobody wants anything questioned.
If I had 2 minutes left, I would just want to be with my little ones and not at work or something stupid. I would want to hold them and calm thier fears as it happens.

Vassalized the entire European contienent except for Belarus and the part of Russia where 3/4 of them live in, European Russia, it's a new, Russophobic concept not to consider them European, hell look at maps from the 1800's, one could travel by horse carriage to Russia from eastern France relatively quickly, of course they were occupying Poland and countries that don't exist anymore when that much east, but historically Russia's eastern border on European land is about where Ukraine and Belarus's western borders are. Not including the Kaliningrad exclave which is west of the baltic states, that was their prize for winning WW2, taking Danzig away from Germans/Poles forever. See the hockey players in the NHL from Russia, a bunch of em are blue eyed and blonde haired and if not, do not look like Asiatic at all.
The reason Russia is so huge and is the largest country on Earth is because during their colonial days, they didn't go out to conquer far-flung places by boat, but went over the limit of the European "continent" which ends with the Ural mountains in Russia, on the other side there is white Russians in cities built much later than medieval Russia, like Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk and even all the way near Japan and Korea in Vladivostok has 2 million+ people. What they did was conquer the Mongolian/Turkic peoples of the whole of Siberia and pushed back some Chinese, Japanese and defended the Christian Armenians from the Muslims all around them, that's why the southermost provinces, I guess they are called Oblasts in Russia, in the Caucasus 2 out of 3 are Muslim in majority and one of em were western and Saudi funded (Saudi in particular, Bandar Bush threatened Putin back then before the Sochi Olympics in a 3 hour meeting and what mostly came out was that "don't get involved in Syria because we can return Chechenya to how it was, we control all the Islamist groups there). There was some bus bombings a bit more north but still in the Caucasus just before the Olympics...might have been some of the last terrorist/contrived events happening in that region of Russia since then back in late 2013 before the whole situation with Ukraine started during the actual Olympics too.
Sorry for not saying that in fewer words lol (but unfortunately they didn't talk about one of top 5 Megadeth songs music or lyrics much at all). Rock on guys, Sting song you did in that show has been on my mind ever since the hostilities started back in 2014 when it was tampered down by Obama and Putin, but Ukrainians been killing Ukrainians who happen to speak Russian or are ethnically Russian in those 2 provinces since 7 years before Russia reacted, pretty damn patient of them...

Good call Metallica.... trading Dave Mustaine for Kirk Hammett is like trading in your Bugatti for a 1984 Pontiac Fiero. Metallica's musicians wish they were this technical and the drummer could never play any Metallica songs. I don't know what the big debate is if you're a musician, you know the complexities of the Arrangements lead guitar and Shirley the brand new Drummer that they got... Metallica just happened to be at the right time that's why they made it big but Megadeth are true technical maestros when it comes to musicianship
