- Just bowing the carbon off the valves.
Just a super simple pump gas 10:3.1 compression SBC 355
My best guess is its about 450hp due to the low compression.
Made 358 WHP and 310 FPT on a Dyno Dynamics Dyno Not much but its still fun to drive.
Sounds to me like a well built 355 with a solid lifter cam.. music to my ears..
you should go rice hunting with that little pickup
certainly has the one hand on top of the wheel ricer pose :P
jean luc Dubinator you mean so he can shift
+jt bass gambler that truck would smoke any burrito lawn mower that pulls up to it
@Ben Latour Exactly. Tt changes everything. Turbos made Japanese cars relevant concerning horsepower.
The problem with smaller displacement engines is they won't last as long simple physics there's more pressure being exerted on the cylinders at same power vs. An 8 cylinder there's a reason there's a stock bottom end ls motor v8 running bottom 7s in the 1/4 mile there's not a single stock bottom 4 cylinder running anywhere near that fast.
Makes me remember my old thrown together 67 Velle. AFR headed 355 with a monster cam. Sounded like a pro mod lol. Went low 11s on motor in my 4 door.
7 speed manual ?
nobody cares about your 1/8 mile timeslips.
my dad couldn't find a transmission to handle his motor in his 88 Chevy c10, it has a 400 small block with a bore and upgraded cam, and a stall converter, and roller rockers and he can smoke the tires all the way up our road. that 355 is BEAST! you've got a tire eater there, great vid!!!!
Then get a fresh turbo 400!!!!!
Is it just me or does it sound like the valve train sounds like two skeletons fookin on a tin roof?
hsmallwood40 solid lifters dumbass
Ooo
Christian Embach he never said if it was solid lift it does sound like it or lifter pre load on the adjustment is wrong
Solid lifter valve lash.. Is all.
That’s a funny comment
2021
This is what I'm talking about, eight cylinders, the crime of a small engine, super powerful and fuel economy.. well done
This video is old and the motor is out so suggestions or advice on this build is now irrelevant. But if you stopped by for entertainment enjoy.
To see my most recent build click this link. ruclips.net/video/g5EQJqqF-ZQ/видео.html
upset g
TPV Productions what are your cam and head specs really want my build to run like this. I have 357 bottom end is done just really stumped on what is best to pull hard above 6500rpm
My father's v8-350 conversion could rip in every gear, the rear end in a S10 is so light it's almost impossible NOT to tear up some tires and pavement with every gear shift! He had to refab the front end just to handle the weight of that engine, I think he had about a half inch of space left at the firewall! He chopped and tubbed the rear end, that thing was crazy! Nice sound, keep tearing it up!
I had in 1992 a 1965 Studebaker Commander with a engine I built that was a copy of a 1969 L79 350hp 327 4 bolt main and a 3 on the tree. This video is the closest to what it sounded/acted like. Except it wound to 8500 no problem and didn't miss thanks to the marine ignition I had. I ate up big blocks in stoplight races like you wouldn't believe. The final nail was I was at a light against a 1969 396 Camaro and we launched and I broke a valve spring at 7500 and subsequently a valve and destroyed the whole engine in one instance. Wish I still had that car.
That must've been an awesome Car to have.
Not bad at all, my wife's old 355 would pull 7500rpm shifts on a regular basis,,, in her 75'Vega with a T5 world class, and 3:80 gears,, fun, fun
Check my 83' Sleeper 383 vintage footage from 96 NEVER SEEN and Challenger and CHARGER shredding tires!! /w\ METAL /w\
That would be new-Ford-Mustang-GT-like.
New sub here ....im now building an s10 with my son as we speak so im all over all the youtube s10 videos ....gotta say great build n nasty pulls ... Ya did an amzing job building the brotha ... Thumbs up n kudos to you ...well done my friend
When I was a much younger foolish guy I owned an 85’ S10 so that dashboard and gauges bring back memories
I’m late this motor is nice 🔥
This is my favorite v8 s10 video of all time. It’s just so fucking violently powerful with just a 355 with how light the SOB is.
This motor is bad ass 💪 bro sounds amazing 👍 👍 love the way that stall sounds when u cruise then step on it
Check out my most recent build it's a little more aggressive.
TPV Productions
What rear gear you running?
What kind of cam are you using to have a 7000 rpm stall good god that’s a lot for 355 please tell me
@@TPVPRO what kind of cam you running in it to make it sound like this when you first step on it
Looking good. Getting these to hook up can be a chore.
I must watch this video once a month..especially during winter when my s10 is away..
Pro355Street I'm bringing that motor back sometime next season. I'm upgrading the heads cam / intake.
TPV Productions very nice..what brand heads are you looking at? I'd like to get a new cam in mine as well
AFR heads and intake comp custom grind cam. I'm still keeping the 10:3.1 compression for pump gas. I have a 93 LT1 in it at the moment the SBC has been out for over a year,
TPV Productions what gears are you running
Back then I had 370s that motor is out for upgrades and my LT1 is in now.
Man I was hoping you'd race the sti and 5.0
That STI and 5.0 are too fast for my truck.
Tylers Photo Video
Wow, really? the sti only puts down 250 to the wheels, it looked like you had way more than that.
I think my truck puts down like 170whp ;)
Tylers Photo Video
shit! more like 500 to 600rwhp! Nice vid!
2010fulchevyboy Not that much for sure LOL
Nothing like the sound of a high revving small block Chevy
it sounds so effing good.. reminds me of my 355 sbc in the back seat in my 65 corvair (crown conversion) 461x casting heads 2.02's .. 292dur flat tappet 540 lift 106lsa ..750 carter afb on a tm1 edelbrock single plane manifold..
you my friend have badass little truck
durango19984x4 k
My buddies brother back in the day had a 69 z28 he bought brand new and that was a very similar sound it almost scares you when you wind them up that tight omg it's gonna blow up at least the first few times anyway the first time it's quite unnerving and disconcerting that Camaro was just straight nasty he taped a 100 dollar bill to the dash and would say get it it's yours when I tell you and when he snatched 2md no way no one ever got the hundo lol small block Chevy has always been the best bang for the buck a small package w a big pot[ of done right build it right wind it tight
I recolonized that stretch of 395 in Northern Virginia. Cool
I recognize it. I’ve lived in va my whole life
was hoping you were gonna play with that stang on the highway..sounds good though!
vans1107 Not much you can do in traffic.
vans1107 Chevy is alot heavier, he has a 55 gallon drum full of excuses in the bed.....
He didn't wanna make a video of him losing to a mustang
495?
@@youtubesecurity5702 wouldn't wanna see anther fox ls swapped on you tube either im a chevy guy but respect the 351 Windsor hell of a motor makes me sick watching fors boy ls swap there stang
This video is old but I still have to say i couldn't quit grinning from ear to ear this entire video .
Cool man. My buddy has a close truck to that. About to build my 400 small block in my highboy. Clean rig
Wyatt King Thanks man 400s are nice I have seen them run some killer times. My friend is building a LQ9 can't wait to see how his 750 Holley and the timing curves work its going to be a blast to drive.
The truck runs strong, built right. I like.
LOL, I thought you going to do the pull in the parking garage! Now that would have been epic!
S10's And S15's Are Kool Lil Trucks...
Man, that must be a blast to drive.
One day I’m gone build one of these legends 🙏🏾
I LOVE IT !!
THATS WHAT I WANT IN MY 94 B4000 (except a 307 5.0 engine & tranny)
*rear-end aswell.
Beautiful.
pretty bad ass in my book
yep val;ve float and way wrong gearing
but the rod to bore ratio is golden almost perfect
Well built small blocks with solid roller cam solid lifters are 8000rpm capable easily .. hydraulic cams can't turn that many revs .. All in the build
This is a goal of but instead a 350 would love to see more about this s10 if it's finished
The beginning you were going down Van Dorn street in Alexandria, VA. I used to live there.
Cool truck..
Oh sweet baby jesus yes
I built the same truck with a 350 out of a 77 lt1 vette. I used a 86 Trans-am GTA trans with torque lockup. This video does nothing compared to the real thing. 65mph pull out to pass and roast the tires no problem. I welded my diff and went to 265x50x15 rubber. Still lit up at 65mph. I think this truck has more engine then mine had. I ran cast iron heads and edlebroke performer intake. Frame broke a number of times so i put the engine n trans in a 93 ranger . A lighter truck but way stronger truck. Again zero traction lol. Fun fun
Iv got about the same set up in a 3400 lb 78 grand lamans.half back car Run's low 11s.th 400.360 SBC.. Runs10.40 on 100 shot..sounds good man
That's what I'm talkin about, nothin else sounds like a high revin carbureted v8
That response is really nice when you gunn it, nice work. Keep posting
Thanks I will do my best to update the Truck. My funds are on hold for till after the wedding.
S10's and Luv's need Powerglides or really wide rubber on the street. Personally I like the PG to keep the tires narrower for a more sleeper appearance.
The county sheriff in his v6 charger “ I am speed”
That s10 is a beast
Do you think you could do another video of your truck in more detail? Maybe a walk around? And may I ask what was the cost to put that engine in? I have a 92 S10 and would like to do a 350 swap in it. Thanks!
That things aggressive as hell! Thats bad ass. I got an 01 xtreme im debating how I want to replace the 4.3 vortec. This is inspiring. I couldn't imagine my truck ripping like that damn!
Do a LQ9 swap yo can jsut upgrade the cam and valve-train and it will spin to 7k easy, they work well when carbed. Mine only makes 358 whp they don't need a lot to make them move.
Tylers Photo Video
hey there, i have an 85 chevy c20, 5,7 350 stock engine, and i wonder if there are any cheap options to make it faster, couz i work for wallmart and the pay sucks so yea,
***** Headers intake carb and roller rockers are your best bet. Better to do them all at the same time to feel a difference. Nothing is really cheap honestly.
oke thanx, yea i was thinking of doing the intake or the heads first, i dont know whats the best is to do first of the two ? im thinking of doing the heads, so i can see if there is any damage in the cylinder walls, couz that baby has more then 300,000 miles on it
I would pull the motor and rebuild it if it has that many miles on it. Do heads cam intake and all. Start with the block and work your way up. Just take your time get it all done right.
Nice truck , think I would put a bigger air filter system on it , that bad boy needs to breathe.👍👍🏁
That engine sounds so funny and sudden!!
If u pull the gauge cluster, trim the back of the dash flat where the gauges go and aftermarket gauges will fit in every hole
It's all about GM bad ass trucks and cars
Love the setup.... simple but tuff 💪
7000 RPM.... 💪🏿
I'd love to have one of these as a daily driver. Will they run ok on pump gas or do you need to find a non-ethanol station?
Just run 93 or 91 local airport sells 101 by me
I wish I could pop my hood
to see your masterpiece.
From intake and angle it looks like an 18 degree engine
23 degree cheap china heads too.
Fucking sick love old school chevs they may not be as quick as the ls of today but I don't care love that sound
Hey man love that beast of yours!!! Question for ya, what is the rattle/tapping noise when you are cruising along? My SBC does it too, thinking its normal for roller rockers?
loose rockers they need to be tightened a little more
Solid roller cam
Alot of play in that steering wheel ... lets hope he gets that fixed for all of our safety :-)
Yep... ruclips.net/video/xk6MEOTa_2s/видео.html
Now that's how to get on the interstate highway!!
sexy engine noise, i wish my sbc sounded that good!
Hello sir this the boy that I drove in your truck
That's a different motor that was my old 355 SCB.
facebook.com/TPV.Pro/
Thanks will text u tommarow
Sounds like he is a little on the lean side a little lean pop at max rpm
Ben Affleck's over here burning rubber in an S10 who knew
set the tach to V8 instead of V6 to get proper RPM reading.
Randy Rando : yes. also does he have the smallest wheels you can get matched lowest gears? the truck went nowhere
no kidding the tach is waaay off!!!
Chris Johnston I know right, look how many thumbs up the comment got too. Almost 50 morons watched this video
lol
Some people want to look like they know something. But end up with pie all over their face.
😂😂This video reminds me of my high school days!
My dad built a similar rig that I am keeling alive. almost too much power and I love it knowing I cant full throttle it... i dont even use the nos.
Confuses say "Many Ricer Race But Few Beat S10"
Got a local guy selling a early model with 406. Debating on picking it up
adjust them valves
That what solid lifter SBC valves sound like.
Poke fun at this one too please gentlemen I set them the same way and don't forget to subscribe. ruclips.net/video/g5EQJqqF-ZQ/видео.html
Rockers
hey i'm building a 355 what kind of heads do you run and what power do you think your making?
Sounds strong sir 👌
Sounds like a Sewing Machine! LOL!
Looks like a fun little truck :)
i would have subscribed if u played around with that Subaru at the end of the video
Wow I see you had patriot Freedom heads in this video. Question did you ever have issues lining up the gaskets to the ports on the heads? I have the same heads right now and I can’t get the gaskets to line up properly. Almost like the bolt holes and ports are correct. Any input is appreciated if you remember lol
Even a hard core Ford guy will says it's hard to beat a small block Chevy
That thing pulls good
See's mustang go by ..... Challenge excepted
Soooooooo sweet !!! ❤❤❤
Pop a 305 crank in that and a bigger carb and you'll be doing *7,800 rpm* hits! Then if you like that, throw some better heads and you'll be over *8,000 rpm!* 😲
Nice pull. Post more details of your build.
DANG SO MUCH HATIN..
S10s are fun.. especially when you pass a mustang smoking the tires..
And still tow a boat to the lake..
Quickly
BEAUTIFUL.
Strong running. Why does it sound like it's breaking up in the upper rpms?
Think that’s just cause it’s so loud it’s distorting the mic
i’m buying an 88 s10 with a 350 bored 30 over with a big comp cam and headers, do i need to get aftermarket gears for the rear end?
Looks like it pulls hard! RPM's never stopped climbing.
What rear gear are you running? 3.73?
d17walker 3.70's I have 4.11's now helps with the bigger tires.
Is that some serious valve tapping going on, or gear to gear timing. Just curious what the tapping was?
I love it, that's some crazy shit right there
great job. im building a 10.8:1engine. 350 crank in dart block 6" rod 400 sbc bore with .030" overbore. anyway its 225cc pro maxx heads 2.08" intake valve and 1.6 ex. with epoxied down intake runners to 198cc angle milled. custom intake manifold 750cfm and running comp XR294HR. about 7.9 dynamic compression. pistons and heads all sharp edges rounded smooth. going in 1981 camaro TH350 with 3500 nitrous finned stall. 3.42 gears (long). could iexpect 11's? 15x11s on back weld wheels. revving to 6500 all forged. streetcar 1-5/8" headers equal length and extra length .
sounds gay
i live right next to that shopping center off little river turnpike
Nice wiring job
What intake manifold are you running? cam? stall converter?Etc, Etc, Etc.
i had my small block hit 6,000 accidentally when the throttle geometry was off. Wasn't a pleasant sound.
My god that thing is wicked. Needs traction soooo bad!
Nothing wrong with big blocks and Ls, but i had a similar engine in my Z28 73 and it was perfekt for the car. Maybe i would build a 388 out of it and it is enough for most occasions.
That Boy pulls hard
What all is done to that motor? And also where you in 3rd gear when you where cruising at the end
now thats what im talking about!!!!! ive been trying to find an idea of what people see as true power and a comparison to my supercharged v8 s10. we would have close race. any idea on dyno numbers?
