    I'm 67 years old, and I drive a 23 year old Toyota Camry. When I was 19 years old, I drove a 1972 Pinto with a high-performance 302 V8 engine, with a Holley 780 double pumper carburetor and it had a posi track rear end that came out of a wreaked Boss 302 Mustang. It also had side pipes. It was a 3 speed automatic, but it would pin you to the seat, and she'd scream like a wild banshee. Your video gave me a few moments of being a kid again. Thank You.

      Mid 70s I built a 71 pinto w/302 v8, v8 bellhousing and B&M took converter bolted to the stock C4. Never broke anything in the drivetrain. Herbert & Meek mount or mounts and Gapp & Rousch headers. Mild motor but would do a 1 wheel peel all down the street. I loved it, my wife hated it

      @toastybuddy8743 3 года назад +14

      @@mr.frenchfry4448 Stands for Volumetric Efficiency. In that reference it may seem confusing, but you may have noticed driving lets say a manual 4 cylinder, in 5th gear at 50mph, 2000rpm… 20% throttle and 100% throttle doesn’t really make a difference. That’s because in that state, 20% throttle is giving that engine all the air in can inhale, so it would be near 100% VE @ 20% throttle - near atmospheric pressure in the intake. Thus opening the throttle to 100% is fruitless. Based on the sound alone, this small block is just about the opposite of that. Throttle for days.

    • @toastybuddy8743
      @toastybuddy8743 3 года назад +7

      @@tabor_experience Correct. You’d be changing the VE of the engine by using a different gear ratio for a given load. In that case the load being vehicle speed. It was the best example i could think of at the time on behalf of most 4 cylinders being rather gutless at low engine speeds and therefor the throttle isn’t very exciting until you’re screaming it. To whoever has driven a Viper - (any year, really) - this machine is the virtual opposite of that… tons of VE on tap pretty much always. Maybe not 6th gear at 40mph but those cars will gladly do it anyways…

      scampman416 so in order to get the fullest out of this car you need to pretty much be a pro at handling these drag cars. Quarter about 10.5? I had a 440 Magnum in my 73 Charger SE for dragging. It did not pop out of the hole like this “short block” bad boy. My quarter time was 13s at maybe 115. I put a big 4 barrel on it and let it breathe. I’m pretty sure I was surpassing 400hp but as heavy as a tank. With a 2.92 rear I got it near 150mph. I ran 3:9x usually. It what I had. I love Mopar. My dad had a 68 Corvette 427/435 hp but tuning was hard. He lost a race to the seller of my Charger who had an expertly tuned 440 6 pack Roadrunner. @@scampman416 you've got a treasure there. Just be careful man. I totaled my 71 SS Chevelle because the car in the oncoming lane didn't judge my speed correctly and decided to make a left turn at the last second in front of me. I blame myself because I had just kicked it. I'm sure he thought he could make it because of the distance, but I was covering ground quickly. The LS5 in the Chevelle had been built, probably making 425+ hp, but I don't think it had anything for the 67 model 440, rated at 375 hp. I love Chevys too but I'm a MOPAR man.

Said G's however consistently fail to stop the satisfied or even fiendish smile I get after the gavel is dropped on these biker boyz. Justice was served this day.

    NOTHING like the sound of a well tuned high revving small block. Doesn't matter the make to me, they all sound so bad ass. In the early 80's I had a 72 Nova with a nice running 327, Muncie and 4.56 gears. I was young and learned the alternator cooling blades will come right off and go through the hood at 7500 rpms, the highest I had shifted it to that point. I was racing a douche in a 396 Chevelle, it ran good but I got him. And some cool hood holes..

      @@whitiefxstc This new stuff is hard for us geizers, I'm 55, handed the phone to my 12 year old son and he did it in less than 5 minutes. First step look just under the screen where the thumbs up and down sign are(hit the thumbs up) then to the right is share and download. Download the video, then open the downloaded video and forward to your favorite section in the video(3:32-3:46) and mark the beginning and end, then save in a file, call it "Ringtone". Now get out of that and go into settings, scroll to ringtone, scroll through the factory tones then it should say "other", click other, then click File, then click and highlight your new ringtone file that you made. It should apply that right away. Or just download the video, write down the start minute and go to a phone store, most will do it for you for free or a couple bucks. Well worth whatever it takes, Many have asked where I got it, they think it's Awesome!!!
