Irving so great to hear from you! So glad you got the opportunity to do that the other day that's exciting!! Love that the video can be of help to you! Keep me updated on your detailing world, I love to hear about it!
I like this channel. As a detailing beginner, I find his channel very comprehensive. Just spending 30 minutes here I have a lot of my questions answered.
You do a good job of explaining the obvious to the oblivious. That's a compliment. To be able to explain a thing in its base components in context that is easy to understand seems to be a hard thing to do. I've been an instructor/teacher of several things in my life and it takes a certain level of understanding and comprehension to be able to convey an idea and/or concept. Good job. And I like the idea of a sealant and then a hard wax. Looks good there and is what I'm going to do to my new GMC Terrain, right after a clay down.
Great video thank you for going into a lot of detail. Everyone complains about that but alot of people dont do that anyway so if ur the one guy on youtube that goes deep into detail then you can teach everyone something that others dont, keep it up.
Hey Luke, GREAT video!!!Thank you for explaining the differences between sealers and waxes. I have a brand new car and just want to protect it from the harsh Michigan winter. Going to seal my car ASAP. Keep up the good work. 👍👍
Hey Luke, first off... just wanted to say I love what your channel is doing in the car detailing community, creating an open door to the producers and consumers. I wanted to address one point you claimed in your video. I wanted to clarify as to why most people say to apply waxes in a straight line, versus in a circular fashion. The reason you should apply any wax/sealant in a straight line is because should there be any surface contaminants dragged around the paint, or if the microfiber on the applicator is melted (due to improper washing/drying of the applicator) , scratches are more difficult to spot if they are a straight line, rather than is a circular pattern (swirl). Next, linear scratches are less difficult to take out most of the time, so therefor you level less of the clear coat. Detailing, paint correcting, and so many other variants of car care is without one of the most controversial topics in society, because everyone wants to seem like they know the most about what they are talking about. I'm not trying to sound like that person, but I figured I would chime in and maybe start a discussion... thoughts?
Hey man, thanks for your encouragement and the thoughts! Totally valid on all of that! The point I was making was just that if you are waxing and getting scratches you have a whole new and different problem on your hands! So yes to all of that
Wilson Auto Detailing no problem man! I’m located in southern Cali, if you’re ever in the state hit me up on Instagram @zings_maro, and maybe we can work out a deal where we do some promotion for each other. I love what your doing bro, keep up the good work man! I’m part of the #notificationsquad, so I’ll try to join a live one day! Just hard with different time zones lol thanks for responding!
I think doing the hood would have been better for a comparison but I think the paste wax looked better compared to the spray wax. Great video I actually didn’t know the in depth difference between a wax and sealant.
A sealant actually fills in the paint's pores, because although it feels smooth, paint is still porous unless it's "sealed." A good sealant should ALWAYS leave it looking like it just got a great clay barring and wax job. I may be a girl, but I grew up in the car business and cars are "kind of" my thing... HAHA! Sealants can last for many years depending on the product (plus depending on the company they're can be great warranties- we had one with a seven year warranty and it really did work). Although I had all my cars sealed (fabric done and fully undercoated as well) prior to delivery, I still chose to wax it at least every 4-6 months depending on the weather, just to give it an extra glossy finish. I mean, when you're spending thousands and thousands of dollars on a new vehicle, why not protect it. I always do everything to protect my vehicles because I did have issues the one time I didn't (paint, and the engine pulled out of my...UGHHHH) They do recommend after sealing it though, to let it sit for a good solid 24hrs, so the product can cure and be there best it can be. I wouldn't recommend people wax it immediately following a sealant though, give it a day or two at least. 😊
@@soulsweet17 that's hard to say. My family owns a new car dealership, so I've always had it done through them. They've used either Zurich shield (paint sealant, fabric protection and undercoating), or a new one that's used a jets called Cilajet. I haven't had it done for like 4 years, so I wouldn't know what to recommend right now. Let me ask you this, what type of vehicle are you going to put it on? And what color/type of paint do you have (flat glossy paint, metallic, pearlescent, etc). Also, is this your daily driver? And lastly do you want to apply it yourself, or are you looking to have it professionally done (both options will make certain products available differently). Sorry for all the questions, but this will help me try to figure it out.
I agree with u about the application method...however Scott from Dallas paint correction makes a good point that most retail waxes are cleaner waxes. These cleaner waxes have abrasives that need to be activated by going in a circular motion. Now a regular non-cleaner wax can be applied either in straight lines or circular...doesn't matter
White residue from compounds, polishes, sealants or wax on textured trim??? One of the great mysteries of detailing is that pretty much all waxes and sealants say to avoid textured plastic or rubber trim. We’ve all done it. It’s nearly impossible to avoid at least some overlap. Especially if you’re using a buffer. I can’t remember which product I used when I figured this out but the white residue that was left on my trim would not come off. We’re talking using a toothbrush with soap and water, isopropyl alcohol, denatured alcohol and out of desperation I even tried a Q-tip with acetone. Nothing would touch it. So I decided to proceed with refreshing the plastic trim with Mother’s Back to Black. Completely removed the white residue no problem. Beat to avoid overlapping onto those textured trim areas but if you do, Back to Black has your back.
OMG! I am from Brazil, and I Knew the plant but I didnt know the multi use for it..I am certantly lerned more about this plant from this video than the whole waxing process. Gammy bears use carnauba plant, no wonder why they are so shiny. I am so glady I came across this video. Thanks much for making this video. Marcia - On, Canada
When I bought my vehicle new it had paint sealant on it. I kept it for ten years, it was white, and i never washed it. It remained clean all the time except where I found some spots above the grille that might have been bugs or road tar. I stupidly used a compound (Color Back...good product in the hands of a sane person) on that area and it became dirty every time I turned around. It remained a dirty stripe across the front until I got rid of the vehicle. Paint sealants are a must. Mine lasted for over ten years.
i been spray waxing my car every time i wash my car, and recently i got the carnuba gold class meguiars wax and so I clayed and used the wax and I swear the shine is so nice that I'm glad I got to wax my car!
I swear you read my mind on products and processes that I want to learn. I just got the Griots DA and it came with the One Step Sealant as a sample. Now I know how to apply it for this weekends project car. And Knowing is half the battle.
Great video , I like the way you cover the key components and do it quickly. Agree you can't tell difference, it will show more as you wash your car over a few months.
I wash my car with Chemical Guys EcoSmart RU waterless wash and wax, when it's not too dirty otherwise it's two bucket method.. And the EcoSmart always leaves it looking nice and protected, sometimes I would do it three times a week 😁.. but just last month after using the EcoSmart I used some Chemical Guy's V7 sealant, and let me tell you...what a difference it made I mean it just looks like a new paint job It's really unbelievable I wish I used this stuff years ago. I find myself wiping the car now once a week now because it's always so clean looking. The point is i wish I used sealant a long time ago.🙃
I do my own detailing bud, question, I just washed my car yesterday at spray off car wash, made the mistake of not using chamois on it, had white spots all over it, took my 3 hours to get those out, any advice next time?
Great video, my friend is the owner of Fw1 fast wax...you don’t see many RUclips detailers using it so that was cool. My go to sealent is the P&S Bead Maker
I was getting annoyed with him for a little while because of all his fluff and disclaimers (example: mentioning not having cleaned the tire.) Yes, obvious right? But I realized how many people even with his disclaimers… will come at him and bitch. People and the internet are ridiculous! I’m back to liking his content again. There is no reason to waste so much energy on disclaimers and then people still coming at you about it. It’s so draining, yes even as a subscriber. Sorry for the rant!
Love the Corolla! Mine's Barcelona Red. It has gold flecks but I'm having a hard time bringing out the flecks. What should I do? Have clayed and buffed the car, wondering if I should go more in depth.
Really well done video. I wish you were in my town. Thank you for all the info. I just bought a new car and where I live it's hot and car paint fades within 6 yrs.
Its nice to see a young fella like myself have insane passion for cars and chase the path of a detailer! I love your insight and your straight forward style of passing knowledge #liked&subed
Thank you for sharing this. I am still confused with is it okay to apply wax after sealant. Some people say, no it is not because the sealant function could be replaced by wax/carnauba, some people say it is fine it can create deep gloss to the paint. lol
how can you talk 17 min straight without breathing luke wtf man if somebody else try to give this much info in one video i guess it will take at least 45 min hahaha you are the man luke and you can be sure i wont miss not even a single video from you keep up the good work budddy
Omg I wish I knew this before! I was given a green1997 Mitsubishi Technica when I graduated high school. Long story short, I would wash and wax that car every weekend with a carnauba wax from a brand called turtle wax. I also used their liquid product to wash the car. The thing is that I was living kind of close to the beach and also the car was sleeping outside. I was also told by a friend who happened to be a detailer that my car in fact was painted so apparently the prior owner kind of lied by saying the car had never been painted. I don’t know if the deterioration was a consequence of the car being painted with cheap materials, me not using the right products or just the conditions. The whole story comes straight from Puerto Rico so you know, summer the whole year. I still have that car. Just waiting to finish university so I can pay for the thing. Note: I am no professional, I am just a normal person who wanted to take care of her car. I was so sad when the clear started turning white. I was really putting a lot of time and effort on the car and was doing it manually and under the sun.
Thank you for awesome infos! I wonder, i have pvc film on my car. What is the best next step for ‘lots of shine’ and protection? Wax, sealant, glaze…? Thank you again!
It would have been good to do each panel in three sections and revisited the job at different time intervals to see the hydrophobic qualities over time.
You need to try Carpro Reload. Best sealant on the market I've used. Regardless of what sealant you use, the prep work is the key. Paint must be washed, clayed/clay alternative, iron decontamination performed, then wiped with IPA 10-15%, or Carpro Eraser. Then apply your sealant. Protection products bond better to properly prepped paint.
I'm new to owning my new car that requires wax because such a fast car should look polished. I use the spray fw1. Easy and fool proof. Works for me because it's not scary to use and I don't need any fancy equipment. And I can't screw it up being that I don't know anything at all about detailing :)
I see you're on what looks like a farm. Can you please do a video on degreasing and detailing a tractor? That's what got me interested in auto detailing.
So how would bead maker work? It's a sealant, right? I've heard so many conflicting things. I usually finish a wash with a spray wax. Would this replace my spray wax or can I put this on top of the spray wax still?
Very informative video. Thanks for making it very clear. May I just ask if the duration of protecion of both sealant and wax will be reduced or instantly removed when the car gets wet like exposed to the rain?
thank you Kim! I appreciate that! Sealants are going to last through snow, rain, heat, etc.. though of course A LOT of precipitation is going to cause the sealant to break down faster than if there was no precipitation, but thats obvious, waxes will last through the elements to a certain point, but really the main difference is just that in any case, sealants are going to last longer than waxes. But it would be cool to get two cars that have the same sealant, put one where there is no precipitation, and one where there is a lot, and see how long each lasts, just to compare, but as a rule, most sealants last somewhere between 6 months and 1 year
Great video Luke, I use the Griots Boss System finishing sealant which an orange pad ,amazing, finish the paint off with Meguiars Ultimate Fast Finish spray wax.
Hello from Croatia! Can you tel me what product a should use first...gyeon can coat or carnauba spray wax...can I even use them together?...sorry on my english...
My question would be if I can’t wash my car because I have no access to water due to my living in a condo... what would the process be? I just use waterless wash and wax. Can I still use the products you used or what other suggestion would you give me? Thank you
ice Job I ended up going with turtle wax 3-1 spray (nowadays your prob nick picking on products they all seem great- 2 coats super happy I am going to do a wax also see how that goes as an extra layer and look.
Shane thank you so much for that encouragement!! That means a ton, especially to know that the videos are helping! Let me know if you need anything man!
Hi, I bought a new car last week and I’m wondering if what would be a simple way for me to wash and protect my car paint. I have no idea about the proper way of washing a car and waxing it.. it is okay if i wash my car, dry it, and apply the sealant/wax right away? or its better if i clay bar it first after i wash it and then seal or wax it. I kind of a DIY person, i hope you can help me.. 😊
Luke, hope this isn't a stupid question but.... Since sealants last 9-12 months, can I apply a wax, then apply a sealant and then NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WAXING for that 9-12 months the sealant will last?
What do I need? My car's paint is in pretty good condition but I've noticed that my gun metal silver paint doesn't seem as dark as it was last year. Basically want my paint to get back the slightly darker appearance and shine it had last year when I got the car. Do I need a polymer sealant or should just get the car waxed?
I like using glaze, but glazes are very temporary and the glossy effect from glaze will fade after few days.. so i was wondering if a sealant could be applied over a glaze.. what to do after the glaze effect is gone or the car is dirty again.. can we just re apply the glaze and the sealant again over and over? Or should we remove everything and re apply everything from scratch?
Hi Luke - I just finished my car with a mixture of Duragloss 105 and their bonding agent 601. The result has blown my mind! I've used many waxes and sealants over the years but have seen nothing that compares to this! Have you ever reviewed this product combination?
I just got my Brand new car with the so call Sealant provided by the dealer as they mentioned it would cost about $500 on that brand's official website, if I plan to do the ceramic coating on my own, does it mean that I have to clay-bar & IPA to remove everything before I apply the ceramic coating? If so do you suggest that I do the ceramic a few months later so not to waste the sealant? The sales told me that I can apply the ceramic over the sealant which I doubt it..
The carnauba looked better at first, but in the time it took you to do the sealant, it developed a slight haze. The synthetic wax and sealant are better in the end.
Luke, my 2020 Vantage has a ceramic coating profe$$ionally applied at a local detail shop in Scottsdale. Should I do anything besides wash it? Please let me know your thoughts.
Great video Luke! I like Poorboys SSR 1 and 2 then EX P sealant and top it off with either Collinite 845 or Poorboys Natty Blue wax and gives great protection and shine!
Jason Tubbs honestly the more I use griots one step the more I love it Hahahaha but I really really really love jet seal and that has been my work horse for years!
Great channel! Just stumbled upon it. Whats a better product for long lasting 'water wicking' so the water just runs off the paint? I have seen a few youtube videos lean towards a paint sealer. Just curious what you would use? Do you have experience with Chemical Guys V07?
+Jasonoid Hey man! If you are looking for SERIOUS WATER REPELLING power I would go with a ceramic coating. If you aren't familiar with what that is I would encourage you to look it up. It would probably change your world!!
Thanks for the info. Quick question of I'm applying sealant and then wax, do I need to wait for the sealant to ''cure' before applying the wax. New sub !
Your pronunciation is very easy to hear, so it helps a lot of listeners, thank you for sharing your experience!
Yes, good english👍

Thanx for your pronunciations 😊

Irving Silva did u use the sealant for the sealers that seals the sealer 😂😭
Lol same here!!! Freaky....

sealant for me. I use Wolfgang's deep gloss sealant. Amazing stuff!
That Meguiars isn't a wax, they simply use the term for their consumer products because people don't know what a sealant is.
Sonax NPS with Sonax BSD as top up after every wash works best for me.
Griots one step sealant is one of the best products I have ever used. Great shine and protection.
Agreed!! So simple and effective its amazing!
You should be a motivational speaker! If you're not already one.🙂 First time watching. Great presentation....

Great information with the differences between all the car care products. Thanks for the video!
Fusso wax. Everybody has their own fav. Most important is that there is something on the paint to protect the finish.
I never used it but from what i've seen it's the only wax i've seen to outlast most sealants. I'm using seal n shine every 4 to 6 months.

I've never tried that specific sealant but sounds like I will have to! And as to the rest of that, yes absolutely agree!
I'm new to owning my new car that requires wax because such a fast car should look polished. I use the spray fw1. Easy and fool proof. Works for me because it's not scary to use and I don't need any fancy equipment. And I can't screw it up being that I don't know anything at all about detailing :)
hahahaha thats great!!! Check out some more of the videos, I bet youll find some better waxes that you like even more!
I see you're on what looks like a farm. Can you please do a video on degreasing and detailing a tractor? That's what got me interested in auto detailing.
Liked the video, didn’t know about the sealant. Any recommendations on types of polishers for personal, commercial or in the middle?
Can I use the glaze after i have used paint sealant on my car like a final step? ... Thank you for your video man
Definitely!
So how would bead maker work? It's a sealant, right? I've heard so many conflicting things. I usually finish a wash with a spray wax. Would this replace my spray wax or can I put this on top of the spray wax still?
Nice vid..ty..question tho..carbanua wax can melt off the car in the sun? If the paint get hot enough?
I got a sealant on my truck it last seven years from the dealership I love it.
wow hahaha that is some serious time endurance
Then it's more likely a coating not a sealant.
What are your top three recommendations (in order) for sealants?
Very informative video. Thanks for making it very clear. May I just ask if the duration of protecion of both sealant and wax will be reduced or instantly removed when the car gets wet like exposed to the rain?
thank you Kim! I appreciate that! Sealants are going to last through snow, rain, heat, etc.. though of course A LOT of precipitation is going to cause the sealant to break down faster than if there was no precipitation, but thats obvious, waxes will last through the elements to a certain point, but really the main difference is just that in any case, sealants are going to last longer than waxes. But it would be cool to get two cars that have the same sealant, put one where there is no precipitation, and one where there is a lot, and see how long each lasts, just to compare, but as a rule, most sealants last somewhere between 6 months and 1 year
Wilson Auto Detailing thanks a lot man! I’ll take your advice :)
Great job. Very informative and articulate.
Can you do a video on System X Ceramic Protection ( Diamond ) plz plz

Hello from Croatia!
Can you tel me what product a should use first...gyeon can coat or carnauba spray wax...can I even use them together?...sorry on my english...
great video! very informative and answered all my questions. Thanks!
My question would be if I can’t wash my car because I have no access to water due to my living in a condo... what would the process be? I just use waterless wash and wax. Can I still use the products you used or what other suggestion would you give me? Thank you
Love the towable cow train and whens the bonfire?
ice Job I ended up going with turtle wax 3-1 spray (nowadays your prob nick picking on products they all seem great- 2 coats super happy I am going to do a wax also see how that goes as an extra layer and look.
You are full of it on the wax. I haven't waxed my Jeep in 2 years. Its still doing pretty damn good.
Do you use a sealant or a different protectant other than a wax?
Wilson Auto Detailing just wax. I am getting ready to Clay bar the entire Jeep and start all over. Thats if I ever do it lol.
Just subscribed because you left your sis in the vid lol... and for the great info 👍🏽
hahahahahahah thanks man!
This sort of stuff has always confused me thank you for clearing this up
Of course!
@Wilson auto detailing
Can i use a carnauba wax and finish with a ceramic coating? Im looking for the most shine possible.
It was a fantastic video, thank for being so informative,You are a very good speaker and if anyone disagree aboutYour explanation they are jealous
Spitting straight facts! Ur the best I deff subbed!
Thanks my man!!!!
Luke, hope this isn't a stupid question but.... Since sealants last 9-12 months, can I apply a wax, then apply a sealant and then NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WAXING for that 9-12 months the sealant will last?
Fantastic. Thank you for the right amount of detail.
Thank you for detailed explaination. Very useful.
Agreed
Wow. Great video. Amazing explanations. 👍✌
You present very clearly. Well done.
Yes!! Super awesome combo, and definitely great products!!!
What is your go to sealant and wax?
This video is a simple and easy to understand. Thank you from Korea. BTW, it was funny at 16:56. It's not open. lol
hahaha thanks so much man!! Glad you liked it!
I kind of find that sealant doesn't bead water up as long, but great video!!!
Can you ceramic coat over the sealant or should you take off the sealant first before ceramic coating?
Hi Thanks for the reply. What I am looking for is Great shine and water beading. And protection.
Ya I think you will not be disappointed with the griots sealant! But really any sealant these days is going to do all 3 of those things really well!
Thanks for the info. Quick question of I'm applying sealant and then wax, do I need to wait for the sealant to ''cure' before applying the wax. New sub !
boof gaming this
Great vid man, keep up the good work
Fantastic videos. You got video bombed. How did you power the polisher machine?
Oops. I see the extension cord. That’s a nice one.
Great stuff.... Double thumbs up for the video crusher @9:40 :p
Good video man definitely helped me out
What are your opinion on KLASSE products? Can you do a video with KLASSE AIO and Sealant.?
