Finding out the "Having your cake and eating it too" was the funniest part of this episode
How did you not know what that means? That is such a common phrase
Lmao that was the fastest I’ve witnessed someone go from clueless to fully understanding that phrase
literally thank you for asking the question! there really is no dumb question
LMFAO agreed
Thank you for clarifying 😂
Larys: ”u up? 😏”
Alicent: ”the hour is late”
Larys: ”send feet pics, i’ll give you the white worm 😩🥵”
Best comment 😂
Yuck.
Gross
STOP LOL
😂😂😂
They are actually twins - two different actors
They even showed up at the premier together
Erryk and Arrryk are truly twins
i thought this was obvious haha they dont look exact same
Arrryk sounds like a great pirate name for a dnd session(?
Rhaenys in the dragon pit at the end - All her previous scenes suggest that she knew Rhaenyra would feel obligated to take the throne, and Daemon would want that, too, and that many houses would stand by her but not enough, so war was inevitable. My take is that, given her own many losses she wasn't on board with killing a whole family and, since she herself wasn't the queen, it wasn't her place to either prevent or start a war. So she made a show of her power and her threat - If you go to war, you're going to be dealing with me and Meleys.
Good comment, also it's like a message to the people and the realm that this king won't peacefully take power like a fairy tale. Dragon War is coming over this crap.
This is a profoundly stupid comment considering you're implying she did what she did just as a shoe of power so they leave her out of the war even though she just committed mass murder on the innocent civilians of kings landings she's the one who guaranteed that the war is not only on but that she and her family will be involved in it she one of the most vile scumbags in this show so far next to aegon
She kinda did murder the most amount of innocents in the show so far, and all for nothing....
But if they hadn’t locked her and Melys up there wouldn’t have been any casualties…
@@lolagranola77 wrong if she can break through the floor she could definitely break out of the drahon pit the normal way why tf would there be more defenses for the normal exit if you can just burst out from anywhere anyways rhaenys chose to become a mass murderer just to flex on the greens
Not the biggest fan of the greens but the way they wrote Alicent is just so good. Sometimes I want to smack her but this episode I felt compassion for her. Also RIP Beesbury gigachad
It's interesting cause I think after episode 8 she realized rhaenyra isn't the enemy Otto turned her into and was ready to support her but at the same time wanted to honor her husband's final wish. Really an interesting dynamic
@Raymond Sims I think you're trying to insinuate that I'm being biased but sure I'd smack her too xd I'd give everyone a good smack
@@Cweaver3 I couldn't have said it better!
Idk, Olivia Cooke was phenomenal as usual but Alicent's characterization was all over the place in Episode 9. Like, are we to believe she's so politically naive that she didn't think that if Viserys died without naming Aegon heir that was it? She raised her son like he would be King and even told him it was his birthright. Not to mention that her motive is cheapened by it being colored by her misunderstanding Viserys' last words. Also would have been nice if we saw Alicent explain how they would placate Rhaenyra rather than just shouting at everybody not to kill her.
I think Olivia Cooke is over acting and the character of Alicent is written stupidly
Helena hates her mother.. every time Allicent touches her she shudders and moves away. What the hell is that about!
I don't think it has anything to do with her love for her mother. She's been coded as being neurodivergent, possibly on the autism spectrum, and it's not unusual for people with autism to dislike being touched.
Probably sees what she is *going* to do rather than reacting how she has been treated. Currently seems like Alicent cares about her very much.
Alison is terrible mother period.
@@JosephHandibode In earlier episodes when her children were babies, we were shown Alicent holding a screaming baby, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else and couldn't wait to hand the child back to it's nurse. Her efforts to comfort the baby looked a bit desperate and completely ineffective, like she had no idea what to do or didn't want to be a mother at all. Terrible mother from the start.
5:38 Me and Aaron both just finally understood what "Have your cake and eat it too" actually means 🤯🤯🤯🤣🤣🤣
Am i getting wooshed? Cause Teddy isn't in this episode
@@skilledwarman my bad what's the bear's name again?
In all reality it's a STUPID saying. What tf else am I supposed to do with MY cake, feed it to my dog?
I think the unibomber had some lifelong issue with that expression and it led to his capture. Give it a Google
@@MADGUNSMONSTER but if you eat it, you don’t have it
This is literally the first time I have ever understood the "having your cake" thing. Thanks Beau
I think the phrase proves confusing because “have” is often used synonymously with “eat”
I still don’t get it. Why would you have a cake and not eat it?
@@VonJay If you have a cake, then eat it, now you don't have it
It's not the same actor playing both Arryck/Erryck. They're actually twins. This show isn't about to waste millions of dollars doing the Armie Hammer/Winklevoss thing for as many shots as these guys appear in.
The whole time I was watching this I was thinking of how mad teddy is gonna be that they were usurping the throne 😅
Was waiting for this review!
For those folks saying how did she get her armor on so fast
She had it on under the cape. You can see the shoulder imprints
It seemed to me that with both Criston and Larys, Alicent was using her sexual appeal to get what she felt she wanted. That is her version of by any means necessary (learning that BAMN method from her daddy who also resorted to the same even bringing up her resemblance to her deceased mom). Rhanys called her out on her self limitation though and showed her by example how she can broaden her scope and get out of her little prison while still remaining dignified and feminine.
I love Eve Bests performance! A perfect balance of fire and power with elegance and restraint. Just because she COULD she doesn’t have to.
Good post. Agreed
Also she killed the people that she wanted. The common people that would not accept her
Agreed
Lacks evidence with criston tbh
But Larys a menace for the feet
I don’t think she’s using Larys I think it’s the other way around.
Best thing on TV in a while. Andor is the only other show that's even worth watching in my opinion. I absolutely loved this episode! Also Arryk and Erryk are played by actual twins.
Yep! Their real names are Luke and Elliott Tittensor.
My thoughts on Rhaenys killing some common people when she broke out, she didn’t WANT to do that. She would have left peacefully with Meleys with zero casualties if she was allowed. The greens held her hostage, imprisoning her and imprisoning her dragon. By busting through the floor and showing violence she is sending the message “I didn’t want to do violence, but I will if I am forced to, so don’t screw with me because people will get hurt” and I loved that moment, it was chilling.
There's another way out of the dragonpit
@@TheForkOnTheLeftist the average show watchers don’t have the mental capacity to remember these simple details so they end up spewing bs comments like “she had no other way out SHE HAD TO🥺” meanwhile all the people capable of getting a dragon to guard the back exit, are ON THE PODIUM meaning no dragon but MORE IMPORTANTLY NO DRAGON RIDER is stopping you from going out the back exit(we see it’s not caged/ has no door) so it would’ve been a clean getaway before the greens knew what happened. It’s just a contrived spectacle to give imbeciles like this one the “chills🤪”, and watch how they do it again in season 2
I still think the best dragon moment so far was Aemond claiming Vhagar. Only bested by Viserys’ walk to the throne.
The dragon scene in this one reminded me of when Drogon lands in the arena and rescues Danaerys.
Those actors playing Arryk and Erryk are actually twins. Not to get confused with the actor playing Tyland Lannister who is playing a twin.
There was a moment the scene where Rheanyra sits beside her father in E8 and Viserys saying: Rheanyra my only child....he loved his daughter so much, because she is her mothers daughter and what is left of her, he also once told her, he never realized it then how much her mother was so much like her and that is when he told her he has chosen her as his heir.....so yes, I do think Rheanyra was his most favored child....
Also regarding the feet
In that first scene back in episode 6 Alicent takes off her shoes but it seems like a more oblivious act. She’s just comfortable in his presence.
I think it was sometime after that killing of Larys family that he goes for the ask. He’d probably been watching her feet all along
Lol
I’ve never understood “have your cake and eat it too” but now I understand! If you eat your cake then you won’t have anymore cake. I love nerd soup for the education as well as episode reviews. Thank you!
i like how we have 4 kingsguard that are all active participants in the intrigue of the show, unlike GoT that all felt kinda 1 dimensional
also Erryk and Arryk are played by twins in real life!
We had Jamie, Ser Barristan Selmy, Ser Meryn Trant, and then the Mountainzombie. They were never really featured on GoT. This is better handling of them.
@@MADGUNSMONSTER exactly it feels like they have significance in the world beyond beating children and just standing in the background of most scenes involving them, Ser Harrold’s exit was really well done and the discourse between the Cargyll twins on duty and loyalty is really refreshing to see for characters for what are essentially tertiary characters a step above extras in the history books.
@@gryft0r133 such a step up. The scene where the twins having an argument was such a thrill.
@@MADGUNSMONSTER you missed ser mandon who sliced tyrion and felt the sting of pod the rod's steel lol
Aaron’s reaction to finding out that the cake saying actually does make sense for me,was fucking priceless 😭
Aegon being named king is foreshadowed in the 2nd episode with the episode title being “second of his name”. You only get a number after your name in Westeros if you become king
The thing about the rhaenys scene is that in that moment the character doesn’t have the benefit of knowing where the story of house of the dragon will go like we, as the viewer, do. She doesn’t know that killing them there would prevent a war necessarily and so probably has no reason to kill them all.
I think the reason she didn't kill them was because, while at that point everyone was taking sides and the greens were doing a coup, it still wasn't "technically" I war yet. Armies haven't been mobilized, blood hasn't been drawn. Her killing all of the Greens right then and there would have ended the war sure, but technically in everyone's mind, it still hadn't really started yet. The key escalations haven't happened yet, just constant scheming. And maybe in her mind the scheming would ultimately win one way or another.
Agreed. At that point that people are all harping about, it would have been cold-blooded murder. And also, end of narrative.
I believe they handed like 2-3 lords? The war may have not started in the light, but they were definitely in the beginnings of coup
@@XaldinX exactly it was a coup for sure. But not necessarily a "war" at that point. Again, nobody had mobilized yet. That's going to happen next episode.
Jaimie Lannister's excuse for attacking Ned was "we were at war". Mind you he attacked Ned after one key event happened, catelyn taking tyrion. Kidnapping your enemies is an indisputable act of war, killing them even worse so. #R.I.Peasbury
@@TheForkOnTheLeftist Tyrian wasn't kidnapped though, he was being accused of paralyzing Bran Stark and was arrested. That's not an act of war and the starks and the lannisters weren't at war at that point.
Arryk and Erryk are played by actual twins. Jason and Tyland Lannister are played by the same guy.
Aegon sounds like an absolute psychopath.
Are his own bastards working in the Pokémon child league?
Alicent been showing her feet to him but we just haven't been paying attention.. she use to take her shoes off every time she would come back to her chambers when he was already there.
“Need a whole family wiped out? Send me a link to that OnlyFans and I got you” Larys
I noticed in E6 (?) in the scene where Larys is waiting for Alicent & had started eating dinner before she arrived, she removes her shoes before joining him at the table. I thought it was odd at the time; why'd they include this? Had any lavishly dressed character in GOT ever removed their shoes in a scene? We rarely see the shoes of female characters at all. Anyway, it stood out to me. Pretty cool how much detail is layered into the show.
The Viserys death scene with the misunderstanding of his meaning was very weak. I would've rather had Alicent simply resolve to put her son on the throne for some other reason.
Also, they better pay off the Meleys not burning everyone to a crisp in a later season, as it made absolutely no sense why Rhaenys would let them live - especially considering this was another queen robbed of her rightful inheritance.
Rhaenys also sees alicent shielding her children from her which propably hits close to home after loosi g your own children. thats a big reason why she didnt burn them.
Love the “Ready with order 66” line.
I never wanna hear the phrase “piggly wigglies” in my life ever again. 😰
Thank u for this brilliant review. Also, loving listening to ur podcast at night! Keep it up
i didn’t realize the feet thing was consensual AT FIRST then it kinda dawned on me like…no she’s aware right?? then after watching so many breakdowns and reviews it’s like oh wow yeah…she knew what was up
Same here, it didn't hit me at first, then I was like, Yuck ......
Yeah, Alicent's dad Otto taught her at a young age to use her body to manipulate or get what she wants from men. What a dad.
I was waiting for your guys take on this!!
The way I took Lady R's actions was she had every intention of killing them in that podium but when the moment came - she changed her mind. So killing the small folk was a means to the end of killing the greens. Personally I disagree with the writers decision - I think she should have just flown off and they didn't know she made it out until they discovered her or the dragon missing.
I loved that moment of Rhaenys, armored and on her dragon, facing off against Alicent, who bravely stepped in front of her son, and Rhaenys choosing not to say dracarys.
29:40 can we take a second for aemonds stance in that frame, dude looks like he's gonna swing on this dragon and I love it haha
Aemond is about to carry his entire squad.
This show just gets better and better!!
I would say this was a bit of a step down from previous episodes.
@@christianlovelock3910 to each their own. I think it went the opposite direction. 🤷♂️ One of the best episodes in a a show full of of amazing episodes. Imo.
@@christianlovelock3910 Agreed. Especially with how good 7 and 8 were, 9 felt markedly inferior, especially with the ending with Rhaenys. Hopefully, the season finale can set things back on track.
That ending with Rhaenys bursting through the floor killing hundreds of innocent people is the stupidest moment of the series so far. And there were a few. Unfortunatley we're back to GoT S08 levels of writing.
@@sgt.pepper5078season 6 ish but definitely not season 8😅
I think it would have been better to have Rhaenys show up a different way. I believe the ramp to the dragon pit should have been behind the coronation stage. I think it would have been cooler if the shot is on the greens with Aegon basking in the crowd and all of a sudden you see dragon wings spread behind them and they turn around in horror as the dragon emerges.
Definitely better than killing possibly hundreds of people lol

I couldnt wait for you guys to drop this. I watched this episode and my immediate thought was “I need there review of this now!”
Great review, Beau & Aaron!! 🤩🤘🏽
About time my dudes! I was waiting for your perspective 🤗😉✨✨✨👊🏾🤓
I'm still high off this show. Definitely turning a blind eye to any flaws and won't come around until a few months from now when the "I make 40+ minute long, heavily edited, video essays about flaws in thing" crowd come around to make me see the err of my ways.
They've made a couple mistakes that are worrisome, but overall they've done a really good job.
I think Episode 9 is really the only one that has significant issues but even then it's still significantly better than anything from Season 7 or 8.
Agree, this episode has some concerning flaws. If you listen to the writer of this episode, there’s no good logic for the decisions to make changes from the book. “How cool would it be for Rhaenys to come up through the floor?” And she ends up not doing anything else. “Oh, this isn’t her war.” Both of her granddaughters are betrothed to Rhaenyra’s boys, this is very much her war. Very D&D season 7/8. Subversion for the sake of subversion is shit writing.
A couple instances can be looked over and excused, but if this becomes a pattern, then any ASOIAF series that follows will be met with hesitance, the audience won’t be fooled a third time.
@@acdkey119 it isnt a war at all at this point. it doesnt fit her character at all to murder them all in cold blood.
but you are right that the scene ultimatly was there because they wanted an action scene. especially them not adressing all the dead civilians at all really sucks.
@@unc54 I count both Rhaenys coming through the floor, killing hundreds of people for a photo op, but not killing the usurpers as one and I also count Criston beating Joffrey to death in front of tons of highborn witnesses so they could have a "Black Wedding" while not addressing how Criston didn't end up dragon poop.
Who would spend 10 years in the same castle as the man who randomly murdered their lover in front of everyone and not kill the every living shit out of that person? In the book his death happened at a tourney. They changed it to murder without considering any of the ramifications, like how Criston would be mega-dead.
I love all the crazy theories around Larys. "He's a greenseer!" "He's warging into the rats!" "He's so mysterious. What could he want?"
And he's just some guy with a foot fetish.
Made my day.
YES SON!
Booted up the tube just to see if this had dropped.
What a banger of an episode. The entire shot of Aegon's entrance. Banging!
She wants to play Animal Crossing..I just laughed so hard😂
There will be consequences to what Rhaenys did. Remember, by the end of the Dance of the Dragons there's something missing from the world thereafter. The small folk play a part in that.
I just couldn’t love you guys more. I love you as much as I could love a stranger. You never disappoint.
I find the whole "Because she's also a mother" excuse so reductive of women, who are full and complete humans with complex motivations. I find it patronizing, and "benignly" sexist. Honestly, she didn't burn them all so the rest of the show can happen, lol. If I HAVE to find an in-world reason -- Rhaenys is pragmatic, and she probably made a calculus re: kinslaying, Rhaenyra's wishes, and self-protection as well as protection of her line, plus likelihood of escape if she does burn everyone. She was totally calm in that moment -- even disdainful. She was in control and chose not to kill them, only send a message.
yeah the mother thing alone is stupid bit i think its a part for her reasoning for sure. but she also respects alicent just as a person and knows that there is a posibility for peace with her.
@@TheEnecca I'll accept it as part of Rhaenys' calculus, but not the entire thing. She knows war is coming and that Alicent has no power because she cowers to the men in her life. She had just called her out on it moments prior. That being said, I think it was Eve Best, who portrays Rhaenys who gave the "mother" motivation, but I still disagree and find it reductive.
I would say they have to cling to the mother argument because desire to protect children seems to be the ruin of many in this show and any other explanation is quite frankly lucacris. Kin slaying is the issue so to avoid doing it you condemn literally everyone else including your entire line to be kin slayers? Rhaenyra all of a sudden would give up the throne after all that shit including how she just got her practically invalid father to come strengthen her claim? How many have already died to keep up rhaenyras lie and claim? The writers thought it would be cool to shoot this scene and didn't realize people aren't morons. We've seen this before with thrones. No reason to give them the benefit of the doubt
I love you guys! The twins are actually identical twins Luke Tittensor and Elliott Tittensor, who play Arryk and Erryk. I live for these reviews from you guys. Hugs!
Absolutely floored, heard the cake saying 4 million times and never realized thats what it meant until now
I was pretty stoked to see Aemond and Crispin team up. I also liked the duel. I love the dragons but i hope we get more sword duels.
Also after Aegon gets crowned and sees the crowed cheering, its the first time he's ever felt loved.
I honestly saw it as Rhaenys driving home that this is what breaking out of your prison looks like, but enjoy your window while it lasts.
Otto getting high in the tower
We light the J
These are great Westeros fantasy football names
These episodes are never long enough
The moment when Alicent steps to the front, protecting Aegon and her family, then closes her eyes thinking she is about to die…. That was so badass. I could feel the fear of that yet she was so courageous!!!!
When Alicent and Larys are having dinner in her room and she wants to bring back her father as the hand, she takes off her shoes when she first arrives in the room with him. Possible early hint to the feet for info arrangement?
I also noticed this, but I thought it was because she was tired or something... Little did I know. 🤢
She could not get her shoes off fast enough in that scene. So now it makes me question if she had initially enjoyed that attention from him.
@@MillersLostGoatFarm They really need to establish how that whole thing started cause it makes no sense. Now in episode 9 they shot it like she was uncomfortable and basically a victim. Why would the Queen and a Hightower, which are one of the most powerful houses in the kingdom be beholden to Larys strong in anyway? She could easily get Criston to kill him in 5 seconds if she feels uncomfortable and threatened. They tried to make it seem like all the men in Alicents life just use and abuse her. Even a damn cripple that has no real power over her. Unless Larys has some sort of magical ability.
@@nostalgicbliss5547 That was my thought, too. How is she beholden to Larys like that?? How on earth did this whole feet thing get started. Why on earth does she go along.

The cake moment was hilarious. Loved it
Your 30:00 point is SPOT ON! To a certain point, these shocking, badass monster moments are half of the reason I’m here for these series in this fantasy world! Legit, well thought out story lore and rich world history with intelligent dialogue (sans the “gas leak seasons” 😂) AND these incredible and very unrealistic action scenes that show off the evolving levels of CGI and irl acting.
Can you tell I just had a bowl 🌳 before watching your episode 😂😅
Lol I love spectacle too. But give me hardhome, red wedding, a fucking direwold in battle... Just make it make sense is what I'm trying to say. To me the beauty of game of thrones at least originally was it was the complete package, not something I needed to turn my brain off or touch grass to enjoy 🍻
Arryk and Erryk are played by actuall twins.
another bowl of good soup... my thoughts as well on the wrap up ... if i ignore the source materials lol
Aemond wouldn't be next in the line of succession under Aegon, true -- it would be Aegon's kids, but they are toddlers, and would make a very weak claim, vs. Rhaenyra, a grown, named heir. So I think Aemond probably knew that and that's why he didn't put Aegon on a boat to Essos right then and there.
Aemond is next in line after aegon as viserys’s successor. So if aegon died or ran away before coronation then aemond will become king. So what aemond meant was that he is next in line as viserys’s successor if aegon doesn’t want it.
@@garrysidhu3829 No, because Aegon II already has 3 legitimate children (as well as many bastards). His twins Jaehaerys and Jaehaera are 6 years old, and have 6 fingers on each hand and 6 toes on each foot. His younger child Maelor is 3. @@garrysidhu3829 The same way that Jon scould be king despite Crown Prince Rhaegar dying before his father the Mad King. I loved the episode, I had some problems with it, like the last scene but in general I can't wait to next Sunday
It was wonderful watching a grandma kick ass!
The phrase is actually “eating your cake and having it too” , but y’all got the point! 😂
Awesome review!
Nah mate, such a common phrase it is said both ways - and if you get the point, then it doesn't matter which way you say it
If they were going to kill Rhaynera and her children , why would Rhaynes think that they wouldn’t kill her grandchildren and her eventually. I’m just genuinely confused as to why she left team green alive and didn’t end the war before it started.
The show runners wanted Rhaenys to have a badass moment and show that she wasn't just a spectator. Unfortunately, I don't think they thought it through
Yeah I thought it was odd but then I remember Jamie Lannester he killed the mad King and saved the entirety of Kings landing and all he was called afterwards was kingslayer and his honour was destroyed in the eyes of most people in the realm if she did kill the greens she would be a kin slayer a king slayer killed the Queen mother the Queen consort the hand of the king and it would have probably caused a war between her home and the hightowers allies plus people seemed to be behind aegon as king it would have caused so much shit no decision was a good decision and I believe a war would have broken out no matter what and I don't think the greens would have killed her they had the opportunity to do that but wanted her as an ally where as they were ready to kill the rest of team black straight away that's just how I saw it anyway

Aaron I had that same exact cake phrase lightbulb moment like a month ago
I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to splitting the treasury or locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It feels more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble.
*Jokes aside, Tfw u only support our Green Lives Matter King for extermination of Strong Boys cause ur pro Valeryian blood supremacy.*
Power is power, and knowledge is power, but where both those power lies in is people. The power is in the people..
No WAY you compared Larys and Alicent's chemistry in the foot scene to Nash and Amar'e lmaoooo
I never understood the "having your cake and eating it line" and when he explained it. I went through the same exact pause of thought and realization as Aaron. 😅
People when Daemon executes Vaemond for rightfully accusing Rhaenyra of bastardry & treason vs people when Criston executes Beesbury for wrongfully accusing Queen Alicent of regicide. This show is a case study in tribalism.
Please finish up your Rings of Power reviews. Even if it's just one review video for the remaining episodes combined. I really like y'all's perspective.
Tywin Lannister did the same thing with Cersei's life. Alicent ended up pointing out bastards, Cersei put em on The Iron Throne...
The Actors who play Erryk and Arryk are real life twins. They were in a few shows over here in the UK Shameless and Emmerdale too I think
I think they probably will address Rhanyse girlbossing the innocent peasants but letting Alicent live because she’s probably gonna regret not killing her at some point.
Earlier I saw someone dub larys "little toe" 🤣 and the cake phrase is supposed to mean "you can't KEEP your cake and eat it too" have just means keep
There’s a moment later in the story that specifically involves the dragon pit that it may be foreshadowing so I personally didn’t have a big issue with it
I think that Aemond was talking about if they did not find Aegon even better for him because then he will be made king instead of his brother
But he wouldn't. Aegon's son would be named king.
@@timetravelingnecromancer1051 No he would not because Aegon himself was not the king, yet we are talking about the moment when they were seeking Aegon to crown him and Aemond knew that if they would not find Aegon they would decide to make him king instead.
@@lilmos100 which ignores succession. You can't skip over the children. If Viserys named Aegon his Heir HE passed over Rhaenyra. We know he didnt but that's there justification. But that doesn't pass over the children as his next in lines.
@@lilmos100 to explain more clearly. The line of Succession goes as such: Rhaenyra, Jace, Luke, Aegon the Younger, Viserys, Aegon the Elder, Jaehaerys, Jaehaera, Maegor? (I can't remember Aegon & Helaena's youngest's name), Helaena, THEN Aemond, then Daeron and finally Deamon if we get technical. Now Viserys on his deathbed "replaced Rhaenyra" so you can remover her and all her children. So Aegon goes missing. That still leaves Aegon's 3 children AND Helaena before Aemond. Now let's remove the women. That still leaves Jaehaerys & the other son before Aemond. So the plot would need to remove 10 claimants to the throne for Aemond to be king. And even if it's just the Greens he is still 3rd/5th in line AFTER Aegon depending on how you want to look at it. One does not need to he crowned for their children to count in Succession. Only be male OR be a RECOGNIZED female Heir. So he would be usurping his own Nephews, possibly his neice & and possibly his sister before he could be king.
Helaena looked *vindicated* when Meleys approached; she’d told people “Beware the beast beneath the boards” TWICE, and when she’s proven right she has a very reasonable sense of smugness, mixed with wonder/awe/fear.
Royal blood does mean more to them, that's a point of the show. Rhenaya who everyone loves so much admits she doesn't care about them at all! Lol
But she cares about the people who just imprisoned her and her dragon and killed supporters on her side? And usurped the throne from the queen she endorsed? K
@@TheForkOnTheLeftist you missed the point completely

By the way, fun fact: originally that saying was "you can't eat your cake and have it too", which makes a lot more sense. Once you eat your cake it's gone you can't have it any more. Why people changed it around I have no idea.
They showed the King being so gross with teenage Alicent in that scene as she as she stared away, repulsed as he did what he did- a scene soon after he had his wife cut open against her will…and people still talk about him as if he was a some benevolent lover of family who was such a good guy. Even here you guys want to separate out Aegon’s crimes to sympathize with him. Seeing people react to the damage from Rhaenys’ escape perfectly depicts one of the major themes of this series: women will always have it harder because men will always be both more critical of women and more willing to give the benefit of the doubt to other men.
Viserys to me was not a good man or king. He was a people pleaser who had extreme bias towards his daughter from his first wife because of guilt and also towards Daemon. These two could do whatever and get away with it because he never put his foot down.
Yeah I always saw him as a creep. A complicated one, but nonetheless.
@@nostalgicbliss5547 you waste your time trying tk get people to love you, you'll end up the most popular dead man in town - Ser Bronn of the Fucking Blackwater
Viserys was a weak fool who is responsible for this entire mess, period.
Based take, the moment with the Dragon and the badass lady was epic(I don't know how to spell her name). This episode was amazing.
Should I wait for this episode to be re-uploaded?
As much as people might have an opinion on Rhaneys and the small folk, they're in for a treat for the rest of the Dance with Dragons, alot of the Civil War depicts how they're feuding effects the citizens of the realm. Many more will get caught in the squabble.
I don't know why people bag on The White Worm's accent. It's Jamaican/southern islander. I think it's great.
They have NOTHING ELSE to gripe about. She's not even a major character, I don't see the issue.
@@MADGUNSMONSTER People always doing too much.
She's an English actress, I just think it's a weird decision. Especially considering lots of characters that should have accents in the seven kingdoms just kinda having their own accent. I hope she's having fun with it, and that's all that matters ig.
"But like seriously, though"... lol. That was the one moment that just seemed so fucking incongruous to me. I don't know why I didn't think foot fetishists existed in that universe.
The dragons are their 'little buddies' - that's some epic understatement right there...
Sara Hess needs to be discussed. This writer seems to have zero idea about the characters she is in charge and favours spectacle over logic. Her interviews post this episode are really concerning.
27:50 great reference 🤣🤣
So Rhaenys decided not to kill the usurper and his whole family? Makes sense considering Deamon never had Otto killed or Rheanyra never hired hitmen to kill Alicent and her horrible sons. So much war and drama could be avoided with a few strategic assassinations. Larys had no problem killing his dad and bro a few episodes ago so it could be done. But then the book would be 12 pages long and the series only 2 or 3 episodes.
I think that was larys’s point, “for love we would sacrifice what we should not but love stays the hand.”
Nah if she's willing to commit mass murder and forever paint herself as a heinous monster she'd be willing to usurp the throne it makes zero sense daemon didn't kill otto because he didn't want to go to war with his brother dummy he loves his family also Rhaenyra is a jobber she couldn't have killed alicent even if she wanted to via assassin anyways as alicent has cole guarding her
My only complaint is why are all the women in this show the beacons of light and all the men are just horrible for the most part lol why is Alicent so nice and innocent about everything but still really smart. Even the white worm just wants justice when shes meant to be an underground crime boss. Even at the end when she the dragon mounted princess just spared everyone, when she to my knowledge was meant to be a very ruthless character according to the books. And rhaenyra just spared her husband and sent him on holidays. My only comlaint though. Larys is like a combination of littlefinger and littlefingers clients lmao
There were some people complaining about misogyny/homophobia in GOT, now they are messing Fire & Blood up because of it. Same with keeping Laenor alive. The wicked men seem alien like compared to the women. Like a different species. In real life, people mirror each other.
Emma Darcy and Olivia Cooke gave an interview about this "romance" thing. And they said NO. Cooke said, that Alicent is not even capable of having those thoughts, feelings or emotions. They said the love between them is a genuine love, jealousy, betrayal. Amplified because they are all they had. Basically, 2 neglected children, that kept each other company. Ripped apart.
Emma Dacry said "Hey they are 14. But if that where your mind goes and thats what you see... then thats what you see."
Im actually pretty grossed out by the speculation, of 14 year old girls. If GRRM wanted that to be the story, it would not be a mystery. It would just be the story. But, I think the daughter bangin her, before the daddy. Is a bot much, even for Targaryens.
People sexualized everything and do not believe in deep friendship.
Kuddos to Rhys Ifaans... the guy came back from having a melt down because he kept getting nerdy roles like Spiderman and Harry Potter. Now he gets a real meaty role in Otto Hightower
I really wonder what would happen if Alicent had back raenyra because Ellie you guys said Otto probably had this plan in store for when viserys died anyway and aegon to still take over. Would raenyra have killed the greens the same as Otto suggested for the blacks? Who knows
The idea that Rhaenyra would kill any of her kin is completely fabricated in the minds of Otto and allicent. We saw absolutely no inkling from Rhaenyra that she ever planned to do this
