When talking about Reek and Sansa, you missed a great opportunity to use that old Robb clip: "THEY WERE BOYS!"
YESSSS!!! Guys please don’t stop at season 6! The revisits are completely different as you can view things in comparison to the whole story rather than trying to figure out what’s coming next. These reviews are much more objective than the season 6 and 7 reviews and I think I speak for most fans when I say season 6 and 7 revisits would make us all very happy !! Love you guys regardless of what you do though
Dave Robb I love them too I wasn’t trying to say they’re not as good if that’s what it sounded like
I second this! I do love the reviews but I think the revisits are different and I'd love to hear what they have to say now, in hindsight.
Like they said at the end, they need to focus on theory vids and previews of season 8 now. Maybe once season 8 is over with they will come back but for now, I doubt that we’ll see any more reviews for a while and I’m cool with that. I’m ready to get hyped for s8
we would have to go trhought aryas bs crap arc but yeah, i am still down for it
Agreed. I can only hope they're binging and will present us with some crafted reviews in quick succession. Time is running out! No pressure, aside, there is pressure hurry hurry.😊
Hardhome is a masterpiece of visual arts. The staredown between Jon and NK always gives me goosebumps even when just thinking about it.
The cold, brisk air makes the scene great as well
thats shot of the four white walkers mounted on dead horses on the cliff is epic as well
When I read this I read NK as North Korea and not Night King! 🤣🤣
You could cut the sexual tension with a dragonglass knife
definitely gave a good pretense of what will happen before shit hits the fan
“I can’t wait for Jaime to kill the Night King.”
Arya: Allow me to introduce myself.
Ba dum dum PSSSH 🥁
Sorry mate Jaimie killing the Night King doesn't subvert expectations enough. Arya is just too much of a bad ass
‘Allow myself to introduce....myself’
I can’t believe I didn’t realize how legendary this episode was
EPIC
Oh yeah yeah it was you lmao
Do you mean when you 1st watched it? I’ve only seen all GoT once, so I’m using this as a prep before watching again....coz a lot goes over my head...I’m not observant enough when watching things...I need at least 2 or 3 viewings before I love or dislike stuff,....except endgame....that had me snared!
"There was a great philosopher from Queens, New York, who once said"
Quotes 50 Cent. This is why I keep coming back lmao
40:59 I agree, I really prefer this Night King actor over the current one. Something about this one’s face makes him feel like he’s a true ice demon while the current one looks more like a guy in makeup
And this Night King created Batman.
Richard Brake is the actor, he has been in other movies, it is truly a shame he is no longer the Night King, he was way better, Vladamir Furdyk is the main stunt guy, he was the white walker that Jon Snow killed in this very episode.
yea this actor I have seen in movies before and he has this incredible face. I have a theory that they changed the actor cause they wanted someone that looked more like Bran
I agree, however, they switched actors because the second one, Furdik, is an HBO/GOT stunt coordinator. They did this because of the physical requirements of the Night King in season 8.
Australiantatious it’s the nose for me
The night is dark and full of Zubats.
That made me laugh far more than it should have, thanks.
@@UponThisAltar you are very welcome!
You noticed me, senpai!
*Takes three steps*
*dundundunNaNaNa*
"Fffffuuuuuuuuu"
I read this as Zumba and thought of the GIF of the Night's King shaking his hips like Shakira
Dude! Y'all missed Tormund's tears! THAT was the most heart-breaking thing about the whole episode because, to Jon, seeing the dead rise was only a threat. But to Tormund, they were his people!
Everyone always talks about the white walker Massacre but the conversations between Tyrion and Daenerys was excellent and lived up to the hype of two fan favorite characters meeting for the first time. It's a shame Tyrion becomes a shell of his former self shortly after the next episode.
*In my Count Dooku voice.
I've been looking forward to this
Beat me to it
NightKing probably did the biggest 'come at bro' in history.
Judging by later seasons he could have killed Jon right there ez but why should he.. or throw one of the ice spears right in his heart
NK: Come on me, bro.
Jon: What?
NK: Come at me, bro.
Come at me Crow...
Rivalled only by Gus.
This... this is why I hated season 7 when just 5 guys were able to hold an army of walkers. Look how much fear and terror they bring in this episode was amazing. I felt scared watching this scared. In season 7 I was on my phone waiting for it to end. They completely ruined who the white walkers are mannnn....
I really hope your joking.
I mean other than the fact they had to funnel up onto a rock. The wights haven’t been shown to be like World War Z zombies that are just a tsunami of bodies. They still need room to swing their weapons and so on.
The thenn Jon killed is named Styr, he was the leader of the thenns and his title is Magnar
"Weird gamble"? Well...yeah. But Jaqen only calls him a gambler because it would kinda be weird to call him an insurance broker. That's all insurance is: Betting against yourself
Good point, I doubt the word “insurance” existed yet, even if the concept did.
+ Ash Scott Agreed...it's credible to assume that such a structure was prevalent in Braavos. The city is an ecosystem of supply and demand. High demand can warrant high stakes.
Australiantatious no shit, but it’s very obviously based on a real period of time, which is what he was referring to
Edd is the most underrated character in the show.
Hands down bruh. Grenn and edd were the best and most loyal to Jon and the realm
This episode has got to be one of my favorites of all time, when Jon killed that white walker I actually jumped out of my seat in excitment!. Jon Snow is such a badass.
Sam Tarly did it first
My lasagna just finished cooking and this video pops up. Life’s good xD
Enjoy
Store bought or homemade?
saltygrasshopper store bought M&S one, last time I made a lasagne nearly died xD
Gennaro Thank you lad
lasgna should have two Gs so spake lil wayne.
There is no sympathy for Cersei, especially considering it was her own fault for everything that happens to her in this season
100% agreed! I was never happier than to see Cersei licking water off the floors of the Black Cells!! I can't wait to see her die, and pay for all the horrible things she has done.
Tiffany Sullivan The black cells are in the dungeons of the red keep, she was being kept in a cell in the great sept
You people are heartless. Cersei did nothing wrong. She’s just a caring mother, a dutiful daughter, and a kind ruler. Long may she reign.
Cersei is the best I want her to destroy everyone
Gotta love when people feel sympathy for a sociopath who has been murdering people since she was a tween.
Beau; this my favorite moment... No wait, this one's my favorite, actually this is really my favorite, now that I think about it, this is my favorite.
Hardhome episode review and the return of Nord VPN, quite the day
My take on Tyrion in this episode is that he saved Jorah's life the only way he could, by giving Daenerys exactly what she wanted. It really seems during that scene like Dany doesn't want to kill Jorah, but she feels trapped by her earlier proclamation. Tyrion could have said, "You're right. You have to kill him.", and she probably would have, as it would have coincided with the box she felt she was in. If Tyrion had said she should just ignore his actions, that would have been insufficient and would have left Tyrion looking like a bad adviser. Instead, Tyrion teaches Dany an important lesson: Being a strong leader doesn't mean that you can never change your mind. It means being able to incorporate new information and using it to make the best possible decision. So, it's ok to forgive his spying based on the service and loyalty he's shown to you since, but his failure to be honest to her means that he can't be by her side. It's the perfect compromise that allows Dany to let Jorah live, yet still keep her image as a strong leader.
Real slick putting the sponsor ad on the review you know everyone can't miss. I see you hustling Cricket
That thumbnail is fuggin hilarious.
Jon is about to get got.
Wtf is that thumbnail 😂😂😂
I'm pretty sure they Bo said that he'd make that the thumbnail in one of the earlier episodes of Game of thrones. I think it might have been in or around season 4
He said he'd do it and he did it. 🎵"Gotta Raise 'em All, Knights King"🎶
The best thumbnail EVER!
Your mom?
Art
Hardhome was an awesome episode not just for the stuff north of the Wall but also the stuff with Stannis and his men freezing in the snow.
"Bill Qy the Science Guy" - #chobot
Our patience has been rewarded
23:25 respectfully disagree. After all the horrendous, despicable shit that Cersei's done, now I'm not saying I'd take any pleasure or satisfaction from seeing her at that low of a point, but didn't gain back any of my sympathy.
Turns me on
I do think NK has plans for Jon. I reckon the look that the White Walker gives when Longclaw does not break, isn't so much 'Wow, where'd you get this piece? I want one!' As much as it is 'It can't be... you're the one.' He looks at the swords then Jon as if he's fulfilling a prophecy or some shit. 'He who shall wield the unbreakable, shall become the white wolf who is destined to devour the night.' Gods bless Jeor Mormont!
The moment Jon blocks the Walkers blow with the Longclaw has the same impact as the moment when Batman blocks the Superman hook in BvS. The Walker has the same "wtf just happened" look as Superman does, too.
nah not the same impact in bvs you already saw that in the trailer and pretty much knew he was going to fight him one on one and was capable of doing it now jon we dint know valyrian steel could kill ww it was surprising
"God was an absentee father." I was crying after that line
I was legitimately thinking of how much I was looking forward to this episode today. Didn't even I'd realise it was coming out, just couldn't wait to get to it. Ah, life's good!
"Legitimately" has become the new "literally" in the way you can just take it out of sentences and they still read the same - despite being a 5 syllable word. I legitimately (with the bounds of law) believe this.
Hardhome! Hardhome! Hardhome!
Definitely my favourite episode. That ending always gives me chills
When the Night King walked to the end of the pier, I was seriously expecting some World of Warcraft Death Knight path of frost stuff and for him to just walk across the water...
**Yoda voice**
Waited I have, foresee it I did not
And so my watch begins
the Nord VPN ad was, down to the exact second, the precise amount of time I needed to pack a bowl for this episode
"I love me a thicc whight"
White? *Brie Larson gets triggered*
GRR has taken me from hating a character like Jaime to loving him over the course of hundreds of pages. Hell, I even kinda like Theon now, or at least understand his situation enough to feel sorry for him. Cercei... I don't care how many POV chapters GRR gives her, it ain't gonna happen. If somehow GRR comes in over the top with some galaxy brain move that somehow humanizes her and I actually buy it, I will have to stop reading fiction books all together. Perfection would have been reached and further reading would just be a waste of time.
I think the part of this episode that gave me the most chills was when John was in the meeting hall trying to get the dragon glass and you just hear the whites running over the roof... chills. Of course John killing the walker was fantastic and iconic and that last scene with the NK was terrifying. But for me the shere number and implacability of the whites literally gives me nightmares. That thick white bit had me dying. Only you guys could make such a dark scene hilarious. Same with the Red Wedding.
Definitely my favorite episode
I showed this episode to my brother-in-law and after that he's watched every episode since then XD
The banter is unreal. Pure happiness listening.
"Tyrion is going to kill Cersei."
"No, I think Jaime is gonna get her."
"Jaime wearing that Northern armor, I can't wait until that guy kills the Night King."
Haha we were all so young and innocent back then lol weren't we? 😂
TWSTF 8 season 8 literally made me depressed
YESSSSS. Soup time!!
Hardhome will forever be the best episode of this series
Congratulations guys!! When other channels promised yet failed to do proper revisits, nerd soup stepped in with such great quality content and kept delivering that same quality. Thank you guys so much for your hard work, dedication to your art, and sharing it so others can enjoy. This channel was one of my highlights in 2018!! ❤️
The action sequences are phenomenal, but it's the subtle effects that really make this episode stand out to me. Like how the storm begins when the wights and white walkers arrive then continues to build as the battle wages on. Or while the Night King is raising his arms and it's so quiet except for Jon's breathing to highlight how concentrated and focused they are on each other that the sounds around them fade into the background. Just a perfect sequence from beginning to end and not a wasted moment throughout.
the ending of this episode was the greatest moment in game of thrones history
My favorite episode
Isn't the gambler just basically selling life insurance?
Except he's slimy enough not to pay out when he's able to get away with it.
Yep, pretty much exactly like normal life insurance.
Bryan Cohoon Yes. There’s many such businesses in Braavos- it’s a huge port & the beginning of the trading circle- but they pay out when the insured dies. This man does not.
Yep. But apparently it's an alien concept to bears and bugs!
Yeah. Insurance on ships is an old business. He’s def an insurer, but a scammer too.
They both seemed to miss it right?!?! I got it more from the book though.
Oh my god! It’s actually happening!!!!
Nice you actually went through with doing the thumbnail 10 out of 10!
Now this does bring a smile to my face
I have seen the scene where Jon kills the white walker a good 50 times, and it never gets old. Every single time, I get chills and the hair on my arms and neck stands up. It''s incredible storytelling.
Love love love, the sports commentator there at the end.
I've heard the Cellino and Barnes jingle and I'm on the East Coast of Canada :).
38:21 No one ever talks about it, but Jon and the White Walker don't just look at their blades locked together. They also look at each other for a second with just such a look of "...you seein this shit?"
Hardhome was a brilliant episode! One of the best in the series.
Hell yes!!! Its about time I'm so glad you guys made it to this one! You guys are the best
We've been waiting for this day, we've always been waiting. Thank you Beau and Aaron ❤️ Soup of my Soul!
Thanks for making this. I recently found your page and have been watching the recaps from prior seasons. I must have searched 20 different times looking for your review of this episode. Not realizing you hadn't made it yet. It is my favorite episode on the series, and it ranks as possibly the greatest tv episode ever in my opinion. Just epic, especially the last 20 minutes. There is not a better shot scene in any tv show ever. Thank you all again, keep up the great channel, and I look forward to April!
Lmao, you guys are honestly hilarious. Cant wait for your reviews of S8!
Also as a guy who grew up in NY the Celino and Barnes reference was funny lol. I recently moved to Los Angeles and theres a branch out here with almost the same number 👌👍
Damn took y'all long enough to get to this episode
The ABSOLUTE BEST episode of the entire series. I have been waiting for this episode...again :-)
"KNIGHT'S WATCH WITH ME"
I swear that shit gives me chills every fucking time. Such a good episode
Love the channel and love you guys on spotify
I said it before but with all the things were revealed and that happened in this episode, it is the greatest single episode in the history of TV.
The writers, Actors, Director especially. Everyone involved, perfect Episode.
I’ve waited for this for so long, love the content!
Finally it’s here!!! My favorite too. So good! Then again this is my favorite show of all time. The four horsemen and then Coming out through the flames ..... chills! The clang of the sword the look on his face! Chills! It’s Gold! Jon is the hero - Azor Ahai! Amazing episode!
SUCH A GREAT VIDEO! This episode gets me hyped and you guys get my HYPED!
Probably the best episode of all time. You guys always do a great job in every video. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to rewatch the revisited series again after season 5 is done!
I’m not even watching it just now, I’m going to cook myself something nice, crack open something fancy to drink and I’m going to watch this and enjoy it to it’s full potential. Thank you, Nerd Soup... oooh, soup...
the part when Jon kills the whitewalker in this episode is probably the biggest nerd moment for me!
The episode we’ve all waited for
Well done guys. We have been waiting for this episode and you did not disappoint.
That last bit with teddy was awesome haha
This episode is so good because it was such a curve ball. It was a massive episode with alot of great moments that usually come in on ep 9s. The last 20 minutes are my favorite of the entire series. I remember watching this and really thinking Jon was a goner, and FUCK the goosebumps I got when he stopped that spear/sword with Long Claw. Best HOLY SHIT moment of the series...10/10
So pumped for your season 8 content. Rooting for you guys to get those big viewership numbers with your quality and well thought out videos. We'd love to see season 6 and 7 revisited as well, even if it is after season 8 finishes.
How I've waited for my nord VPN video 💜💜💜
Thank you! I was rewatching all the revisited episodes and this one was missing. Finally I can watch it.!
This really got me thinking. What is my favorite episode? My favorite season is 4. This I know having recently rewatched everything. But what is my favorite episode? Is hard to argue against this one.
We made it!! Yaaaaaaassssss!!!!!!
You guys are amazing! This was worth the wait and I am oh so greatful! This was for sure 10.9 lol Gratitude!
It warrants pointing out what a brave - and ultimately successful - choice was made regarding the soundtrack music to the whole Come at me Crow" and raising the dead sequence (@ 41:30 ), in so much as they chose to have none. The silence adds to the tension immensely I feel, particularly as contrasted with the utter carnage just wreaked. Just another reason "Hardhome" is a solid 10/10.
Wan Wan. To the SEA! Rawrrrreerrrrrrr
Been on a slow rewatch of GoT and chasing the episodes with these revisited videos. I've been so excited to get to this one.
The attention to detail, all the way down to the satellite feed delay when you first start talking to Teddy... brilliant.
I was having a bad day. This made it better. Perfect timing guys. Thanks
Love you guys!
The Thing is not a particularly scary movie. It's gory and disgusting and hilarious and brilliant, but it's not scary apart from the scene with the dogs transforming. The dogs barking is the first sense we get that something is going seriously wrong and it always gives me the chills.
The moment the dogs start barking in the final act of Hardhome reminds me of that scene from the Thing. We know something is wrong, we don't know what it is, and we don't know how bad it's going to be yet but It instantly sets you up for the horror that's coming.
Does the final twenty minutes of Hardhome make up for what was generally a bad season? Not quite, but it was spectacular, it was riveting and it was like watching a natural disaster occur as the wights poured down the side of the mountain.
you guys killed this revisited! bravo!
Been waiting since S1E1 of the revisited series for you guys to go into Hardhome!
I think he didn't kill Jon because the walkers are cocky. In the GoT prelude, they are laughing when they kill the rangers.
Everything in Game of Thrones is a retelling of History and/or literature.
When you are calling the "Thin Man", a gambler, what you are actually seeing is a retelling of the beginnings of shipping insurance.
Braavos is based on Venice. A Venice that has begun the Renaissance. Its the beginnings of a market economy. Its people are not serfs or slaves. That's why we see a vibrant city. The Iron Bank is based on the beginnings of the Venetian banking system (The beginning of dual entry bookkeeping).
The Thin Man is the beginning of shipping insurance (Even though that happened in Genoa.
Game of Thrones is retelling the end of the medieval in England (The Night King and White walkers are a retelling of Lord of the Rings). I will not tell you who Dany is. The end of the medieval in England occurred at a particular moment in History that Game of Thrones is leading up to. This did not create "democracy" but ended Bastard feudalism (forms of feudalism continued).
George and the showrunners are repudiating Shakespeare's version of these events.
What began as Winter is Coming (Or Now is the Winter of our Discontent) will lead to the end of the medieval. This is the "Breaking of the wheel".
thanks guys! you make my Thursday (Australia) mornings anticipated
I've been waiting... Ima watch this episode for the 10th time right after this
I’ve watch every revisited episode. Always waiting for the new one to watch and hear both of your guys takes and opinions on the show. Since winter is coming 388 days ago. I’ve been waiting for this episode! ( hardhome is my favorite episode ) I didn’t know you you guys would get this far.. but here we go!
I've been looking forward to this Revisited and it did not disappoint. Also Kutos for sticking with your word on the Pokemon Theme.💜
As a Northerner myself, the accents are interesting. I watched the first season before I read the books and From EP1 I immediately rooted for the Starks because they were northern. Jon and Ned are very much so... Sansa is a little harder to pin down. (You'd think they'd all have the same accent, haha.) The Lannisters and the majority in the south have a more stereotypical posh 'British accent.' Fuckin' southerners! Even if I hadn't read the books I wouldn't have trusted Roose Bolton, because his accent isn't exactly very Northern, haha. Anyone who doesn't have a accent from the North will be a traitor... I'm looking at you Tyrion! Rambling aside the show is quite consistent with accents. This channel will make the final season of GoT even more enjoyable, cheers!
