I went through it 2 days ago and I couldn’t sleep the whole night after the retrieval. It gives cramps for 1.5 days. At least that’s what happened with me

Very interesting! I came to this video to learn how the eggs are retrieved, and then I learned something I didn't think I didn't know: how the eggs are fertilized. I had always assumed the eggs and sperm were simply placed in a vessel of some sort, together, and then doctors (technicians?) would simply wait for the sperm to... putt. I didn't know they were injected, one by one, directly into the eggs. By some doctrines, life begins at conception. The person operating the needle, then, is doing something extremely profound at that moment. I wonder how much of a chore it is to "catch" a single sperm cell. Even under a microscope they seem to move pretty slowly. But since they only have one very long flagellum to get around, they're very... "flaily". They're not gently drifting like jellyfish or like otters in slow motion. I'd guess the popular strategy is to grab them by the head rather than the tail.
Well you are right in that also. They don't fertilize everyone's eggs with icsi. My husband had slow motility so we did icsi and assisted hatching of the embryo also

This is a good thing for couples who cannot get pregnant. This is a bad thing for people just wanting to pick the gender of their kid.
This is probably something that should not be covered by health insurance, given exploding rates.

How much time does it take IVF?
Around 2 months
An IVF cycle typically takes around 6-8 weeks. The process includes an initial consultation, ovarian stimulation that lasts 8-14 days, egg retrieval, fertilisation, embryo transfer, and a pregnancy test. The embryo transfer and pregnancy test are typically performed 5 days after fertilisation.
I’m on my third treatment, and I’m pretty sure it didn’t work. I have my blood test this week, but I won’t hold my breath. I’m not devastated either. I’m more like, if it happens then it happens. If not, then there’s nothing I can do about. My eggs just don’t want to fertilize. The treatments did help some, but my eggs just won’t fertilize. All my readings are normal. The egg count got better each time, but my body just doesn’t want to. The problem in my case is a hormone imbalance. My brain does not communicate to ovulate. If this result is negative then I’m going to hold off on the other procedures due to income. I can’t keep spending money just to conceive.

Yes, I'm currently recovering from egg retrieval. The constipation is the worst. I am taking colace and bisacodyl. Walking at least 20 minutes a day(it's hard to do when you feel full, bloated and overall terrible), having Gatorade at least twice a day, eating lots of fiber like fruits/veggies and frosted shredded wheat(again hard to do when you feel really full), doing Tylenol and Advil around the clock. Getting plenty rest. Using a getting pad. Spotting is gone.
The birth control and stimulation meds weren't a big deal, but bay-bee, the retrieval recovery was a hard four days. I'm just now starting to feel better.

While having a partner to raise a child with is ideal (kids are a LOT of work), if you really want to become a mom there are alternative ways to do that. I had my twins as a single mother by choice. I didn't do IVF.
