I know this is an old video but I watched every IUI related video I could during my IUI process..this one gave me a piece of mind because we did everything on this video .now I’m having a baby on my first IUI…we didn’t expect it because we knew they aren’t always successful…my infertility was due to a male factor since all my tests and scans came back normal…we just needed a push..
Just got back from 1st IUI attempt. Wife has two follicles, one on each side. I had 250 million sperm with 60% motility pre-wash, and 27 million sperm with 98% motility post-wash. We have no known issues and we’re both 26 years old (been trying TTC for 15 months), so we’re classified under unexplained infertility. Praying this works within 3 attempts. I’m blessed to have a job that provides amazing fertility benefits (3 IUI attempts and 3 IVF attempts), so if we’re unsuccessful after 3 attempts, we’ll try IVF. Edit 1: This is a medicated IUI cycle

Just stumbled on this video. Wish I had this information over 9 years ago when my husband and I went through infertility treatment. For those who need some hope, my son will be 9 years old this November. He was conceived via our third medicated IUI (Clomid, trigger shot, another shot medication I can’t recall, and 9 million sperm - our lowest count in the whole process). We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Best wishes to all who want to become parents.
We are doing IUI tomorrow. Good to know that my doctor followed all points you mentioned except HSG probably I will ask my doctor why we didn’t do that. I will start taking duphaston from tomorrow. I am 33 and I was diagnosed with endometriosis and I had. Hysteroscopy is December 2022. I had miscarriage in 2020 and 2021. For about a year I couldn’t not get pregnant. We tried naturally using trigger shot but didn’t work. My husband has a low sperm count and heavy smoker so it might also affect. Anyways I will update here.
Update: today I had IUI and it was not painful. The only discomfort was that I had to keep my bladder full. It’s a quick procedure. My doctor said my uterus is longer than normal, about 6 cm so sperm has to swim a bit further. I didn’t have to do HSG because I already had a hysteroscopy. After sperm wash progression improved from move slowly/forward to fast speed. Con 25 ml and motility from 54% to 99%. I will update on the pregnancy result on 12th April.
I still have one week before I do test. I don’t want to test too early not to get disappointed. Infertility is such a frustrating journey. Every month hoping and getting sad. Feeling helpless. I try to feel optimistic about my first IUI, this waiting time is really nerve wrecking. I am sure there are so many of us going through it. Sometimes I am not even sure if I want to have a baby.
I managed to wait till day 18 post ovulation and just now did test and it’s showing positive 🤰🏻🥲 it’s just so surreal … we have been trying for 4 years with 2 miscarriages at week 6th. I hope that this pregnancy holds. I am sharing so that it gives hopes to others ❤️
This will be my second try doing the IUI procedure in about 3 years. My first IUI was a miscarriage, so with this one, I’m getting tested for everything. I am waiting to get my polyps removed again and then I’ll do the second IUI. I want this one to be successful all the way. My only infertility issue that I keep running into is that polyps keep resurfacing 😞.
@asian.draper6324 I have polyps and endometriosis, and I had a miscarriage too. Usually, for polyps and tissues to grow, they need oestrogen hormone to "feed" them. Goodle about polyps and oestrogen 😉.. it took me many years to find out what I have and what causes it because doctors would tell me that it's all normal but I was very persistent and did a lot of researchers and found a place where they can see all that through the ultrasound and was finally able to do something about it
I am on my 2nd IUI journey, this time took Clomid and the trigger shot.. had the IUI procedure done, and my doctor prescribed cyclogest 200mg as an added extra during my two week wait. Not sure if the cyclogest is the cause for extreme hot flushes and night sweats, but it definitely is different this time around… I am on 4 DPIUI, and have been feeling very fatigued, mild cramps and hot flushes probably 60% of the day and night. Hoping all of these symptoms are normal and that the blood test will be a BFP 🙏🏻🙃🌷
Unfortunately it was n BFN😞 decided that I will take a break from this fertility journey this year and focus on getting my mental & overall physical health great again. I am suffering from this emotionally, so I hope the break will do me good. Thanks for the love all! 🌷💕

I did my second day IUI yesterday and have 2 grown follicles 23mm and 20mm , 10mm 8mm then that night i inject my triger shot . Doctor said dec 24 pregnancy test.

My husband got checked and he has good sperm quality, I was diagnosed with PCOs around 7 months ago without me having really no symptoms…until around 3 months after my diagnosis I started having periods 1 week apart from each other and acne breakouts. We’re sitting on this cycle to start IUI and I’m so nervous. I’m under 25 and I look around me and I’m like “God why?” 😭 It shouldn’t be this hard to get pregnant, specially at my age 😩. Hi thank you for this video. could you please explain how the trigger shot works on the ovaries exactly ? From my understanding it is made of the "pregnancy hormones", hcg, but if LH surge tells the ovaries to release the egg, how come we are not using lh to trigger ovulation in practice ? Also may i know why, when using a trigger shot the Opk is deemed unreliable? I guess the hcg and lh have similar roles but it's not clear what the differences are. Also how come we are able to say the ovulation happens 24 to 36h after the trigger shot? What chain of events happen between the trigger shot and the actual egg release? One more question, what makes the body choose between the left or the right to mature follicles? . Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer.

What can I do to increase my chances of conceiving baby girl? I am torn between iui with sperm donor, or freezing my ovaries and using ivf down the road if I Marry or when I have more money saved.
Do you think IUI could be successful for someone with great sperm count but had a 0 morphology on the analysis collected mid December? I know morphology can change from week to week for men but what's your thoughts. Just finished an unsuccessful 1st round with 100mg clomid and timed intercourse. Had 3 mature follicles at scan but no luck. I have very low ovarian reserve so we are trying to be cautious and quick about it but can't afford IVF. Thoughts?
Thank you for the info! Doing all 5 on your list. 1st iui was a fail. I had 3 follicles that time. I skipped 2nd month/attempt because I only had 1 that round. So this month will be my 2nd iui. Is there a way to thicken uterine lining and egg size? My uterine lining was thin on both ultrasounds
Update: My January ultrasound showed 3 eggs, 1 30mm and 2 15mm, and my uterine lining was multi layered and thick! Unfortunately, the iui did not work again. February ultrasound, my lining was again multi layered and thick. I honestly think it improved due to the maca root I am taking.
@@blue_eyez21 that 30mm was over mature. And if u are taking maca root see if u can skip the injection to help ur lining and just use maca root. Also b6 is also good for your lining as well

However the fertility clinic is closed next weekend and they suggested that I do my IUI next Friday (day 12 of cycle). What are my chances of success for this timing if my ovulation is on day 14?

I'm using donor sperm to get pregnant without a life partner. SMBC here! Initial testing with my fertility doctor made everything look great... no blockage in my tubes, and >3 AMH. Also I am 32 years old. It has been super difficult to find any data on chances of conceiving with IUI for my situation, and I can't help but wonder if 15-20% is lower because most people using IUI have some trouble with pregnancy already.
Thank you for saying this/asking this. This was in many ways a very helpful video (which im grateful for- this is not aimed at this creator specifically!!). However as a lesbian with a female/non-sperm producing partner, I'm getting confused and frustrated with how every part of this process has us lumped in with 'infertility' cases. Even my referral for an HSG from my fertility clinic said "reason: infertility" on it (I'm not infertile, just gay.. lol). I suspect this of this data and the reported success rates too. I feel like we need to disaggregate this data to account for the fact that some people are "fertile" individuals and couples who simply don't have a sperm producing partner (the data does not just partnered & heterosexual individuals who are struggling with infertility). Or maybe we're included in this stat and its averaged out across all and any groups participating in an IUI procedure? I am confused. If anyone knows of any data that reports success rates for IUI for individuals with no detected infertility.... well please tag me!!! I feel like my experience/concerns/existence within this process feels very erased and invisible even within small things like this... i wonder if you feel similar @afirebaugh09? I can't be alone in this frustration.

I was diagnosed with TWO completely blocked fallopian tubes years ago. I had wrapped my head around the fact I would not be able to conceive .Years later, I find out I am 5 weeks pregnant. Had a laparoscopy that determined my tubes were completely open and all was well. Have been trying to get pregnant since with no luck :( I have an appt to discuss IUI treatment and hoping to get good news. I'm just still not sure how my tubes "unblocked" themselves and still wondering if the issue is somewhere "in there".

We have had 3 iui first 2 didnt work and 3rd we changed the sperm i then started taking pregnacare all went well and fell pregnant. unfortunately went for viability scan and baby sack was there but no baby (something to do with chromozones) miscarriage tablets given. We are currently waiting for menstrual cycle to start and then will do next 3 iui's. Food and exercise wise what is advised after iui insemination? My iui is stimulated. Health wise no problems. First iui was over stimulated had 4 so 2 had to be removed. Not sure if it something im doing. Please help

I just went through my first IUI procedure and my pregnancy blood test came back negative. We are supposed to try again my I feel discouraged. IVF as they can fertilise the eggs outside the body then put them in you whereas iui the sperm still has to travel and make its own way to the egg I'd have IVF over iui but IVF is so much more expensive

Ask your doctor these questions but I was told a warm bath is fine. A scalding hot one isn't recommended & no hot tubs. Your doctor should have told you to take a pregnancy test 14 days after your iui, if you haven't started a period. Some people will get super faint lined before 14 days past, but it's jist going to put you through a roller coaster of emotions & stress you out if it's super faint. So it's best to wait until you will for sure see a dark line, because stress hormones override pregnancy hormones.

My question is if I am already receiving a positive surge on my own with the help of 7 days of Letozole, is a trigger shot still deemed helpful? I am taking 5 mg pregnyl injections for 3 days after letrozle mainly because this combination has helped me produce 2 mature follicles. But a trigger shot has not been recommended to me. I am obviously working closely with my fertility doctor but was curious as to what your thoughts were. I wasn’t sure if trigger shots were only for women who were not seeing positive surges after the use letrozole. ❤ thank you so much for sharing! Love your channel!

No specific medication needed in general. You could talk to your doctor about supplements , aspirin, progesterone but not everyone needs extra - sending you ❤️🤞🍍

Not sure is true or not but I heard its better to ovulate naturally and iui better rate than putting all the shots and pills . Because the shot pills can cause chemical pregnancy
What about IUI with successful tubal reanastomosis? I only have 3cm of tube left and my husband has semen volume. We have been trying for 3 months with letrozole and timed intercourse with no luck so far. Next month starts IUI cycles.

I still have one week before I do test. I don’t want to test too early not to get disappointed. Infertility is such a frustrating journey. Every month hoping and getting sad. Feeling helpless. I try to feel optimistic about my first IUI, this waiting time is really nerve wrecking.
I am sure there are so many of us going through it. Sometimes I am not even sure if I want to have a baby.
I managed to wait till day 18 post ovulation and just now did test and it’s showing positive 🤰🏻🥲 it’s just so surreal … we have been trying for 4 years with 2 miscarriages at week 6th.

This will be my second try doing the IUI procedure in about 3 years. My first IUI was a miscarriage, so with this one, I’m getting tested for everything. I am waiting to get my polyps removed again and then I’ll do the second IUI. I want this one to be successful all the way. My only infertility issue that I keep running into is that polyps keep resurfacing 😞.

@asian.draper6324 I have polyps and endometriosis, and I had a miscarriage too. Usually, for polyps and tissues to grow, they need oestrogen hormone to "feed" them. Goodle about polyps and oestrogen 😉.. it took me many years to find out what I have and what causes it because doctors would tell me that it's all normal but I was very persistent and did a lot of researchers and found a place where they can see all that through the ultrasound and was finally able to do something about it
I am on my 2nd IUI journey, this time took Clomid and the trigger shot.. had the IUI procedure done, and my doctor prescribed cyclogest 200mg as an added extra during my two week wait. Not sure if the cyclogest is the cause for extreme hot flushes and night sweats, but it definitely is different this time around… I am on 4 DPIUI, and have been feeling very fatigued, mild cramps and hot flushes probably 60% of the day and night. Hoping all of these symptoms are normal and that the blood test will be a BFP 🙏🏻🙃🌷

It’s all about probability. If first IUI doesn’t work then don’t lose hope try second time. The more you try the higher the success it will be.
Been trying to conceive for 2 years and no luck, took Letrozole for 3 months and nothing. My husband got checked and he has good sperm quality, I was diagnosed with PCOs around 7 months ago without me having really no symptoms…until around 3 months after my diagnosis I started having periods 1 week apart from each other and acne breakouts. We’re sitting on this cycle to start IUI and I’m so nervous. I’m under 25 and I look around me and I’m like “God why?” 😭 It shouldn’t be this hard to get pregnant, specially at my age 😩. But it is and it hurts! Just hoping this is our time ❤️ Hoping all you to get your miracle babies sent your way ❤❤🥹

Hi thank you for this video. could you please explain how the trigger shot works on the ovaries exactly ? From my understanding it is made of the "pregnancy hormones", hcg, but if LH surge tells the ovaries to release the egg, how come we are not using lh to trigger ovulation in practice ? Also may i know why, when using a trigger shot the Opk is deemed unreliable? I guess the hcg and lh have similar roles but it's not clear what the differences are. Also how come we are able to say the ovulation happens 24 to 36h after the trigger shot? What chain of events happen between the trigger shot and the actual egg release? One more question, what makes the body choose between the left or the right to mature follicles? . Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer.

I have stage 2/3 endometriosis and I am chaste age 38 female. I had excision surgery in 2019- endometrioma removed. Been on mini pill and slynd- periods are normal. Surgery report says right fallopian tube is healthy. I have 1 2 cm fibroid.Seeing fertility specialist in my province on dec.1. What can I take to increase my chances of iui success? What can I do to increase my chances of conceiving baby girl? I am torn between iui with sperm donor, or freezing my ovaries and using ivf down the road if I Marry or when I have more money saved.
Today is my day 16 after my first IUI and I'm having light brown spotting, if i don't get my period till tomorrow I'm getting it tested 🤞

Do you think IUI could be successful for someone with great sperm count but had a 0 morphology on the analysis collected mid December? I know morphology can change from week to week for men but what's your thoughts. Just finished an unsuccessful 1st round with 100mg clomid and timed intercourse. Had 3 mature follicles at scan but no luck. I have very low ovarian reserve so we are trying to be cautious and quick about it but can't afford IVF. Thoughts?

Thank you for the info! Doing all 5 on your list. 1st iui was a fail. I had 3 follicles that time. I skipped 2nd month/attempt because I only had 1 that round. So this month will be my 2nd iui. Is there a way to thicken uterine lining and egg size? My uterine lining was thin on both ultrasounds
Same here my uterine line was thin but they gave lupin estradiol to help thicken it, but I just had a heavy period after as the egg didn’t implant. 😢
Great question and this would be a good video - evidence shows some promise with aspirin, vitamin E, and acupuncture- ask your doctor about these❤️
Update: My January ultrasound showed 3 eggs, 1 30mm and 2 15mm, and my uterine lining was multi layered and thick! Unfortunately, the iui did not work again. February ultrasound, my lining was again multi layered and thick. I honestly think it improved due to the maca root I am taking.
@@blue_eyez21 that 30mm was over mature. And if u are taking maca root see if u can skip the injection to help ur lining and just use maca root. Also b6 is also good for your lining as well
What about using a frozen sperm donor from the frozen Bank clinic like I'm going to be using for the first IUI treatment will that give me a best increase chance a success pregnancy i have never had kids only wontting one child only am hopeing it will work for me

I am 20 and have a daughter who is naturally conceived and I actually got pregnant when i had a IUD. I’m single and want to add one more to my family via donor. Would I have high success with IUI due to my age? Should i get tests such as AMH to make sure I am fertile? Would love to hear back!
I’m 23 years old my husband has a vasectomy for about 8years. He’s doing the tesa procedure and freezing his sperm. Now on me everything is good on my side. I’m fertile, what’s the success rate on that.

I’m planning for my first unmedicated IUI next weekend. I’m age 40, healthy and have regular 28 day cycles. However the fertility clinic is closed next weekend and they suggested that I do my IUI next Friday (day 12 of cycle). What are my chances of success for this timing if my ovulation is on day 14?

Sperm can be viable and in the reproductive tract for about 48 hours if frozen and up to 96 hours if not frozen.

I'm using donor sperm to get pregnant without a life partner. SMBC here! Initial testing with my fertility doctor made everything look great... no blockage in my tubes, and >3 AMH. Also I am 32 years old. It has been super difficult to find any data on chances of conceiving with IUI for my situation, and I can't help but wonder if 15-20% is lower because most people using IUI have some trouble with pregnancy already.

Thank you for saying this/asking this. This was in many ways a very helpful video (which im grateful for- this is not aimed at this creator specifically!!). However as a lesbian with a female/non-sperm producing partner, I'm getting confused and frustrated with how every part of this process has us lumped in with 'infertility' cases. Even my referral for an HSG from my fertility clinic said "reason: infertility" on it (I'm not infertile, just gay.. lol). I suspect this of this data and the reported success rates too. I feel like we need to disaggregate this data to account for the fact that some people are "fertile" individuals and couples who simply don't have a sperm producing partner (the data does not just partnered & heterosexual individuals who are struggling with infertility). Or maybe we're included in this stat and its averaged out across all and any groups participating in an IUI procedure? I am confused.
If anyone knows of any data that reports success rates for IUI for individuals with no detected infertility.... well please tag me!!! I feel like my experience/concerns/existence within this process feels very erased and invisible even within small things like this... i wonder if you feel similar @afirebaugh09? I can't be alone in this frustration.

I was diagnosed with TWO completely blocked fallopian tubes years ago. I had wrapped my head around the fact I would not be able to conceive .Years later, I find out I am 5 weeks pregnant. Had a laparoscopy that determined my tubes were completely open and all was well. Have been trying to get pregnant since with no luck :( I have an appt to discuss IUI treatment and hoping to get good news. I'm just still not sure how my tubes "unblocked" themselves and still wondering if the issue is somewhere "in there".

Thankyou for the video. We have had 3 iui first 2 didnt work and 3rd we changed the sperm i then started taking pregnacare all went well and fell pregnant. unfortunately went for viability scan and baby sack was there but no baby (something to do with chromozones) miscarriage tablets given. We are currently waiting for menstrual cycle to start and then will do next 3 iui's. Food and exercise wise what is advised after iui insemination? My iui is stimulated. Health wise no problems. First iui was over stimulated had 4 so 2 had to be removed.

I just went through my first IUI procedure and my pregnancy blood test came back negative. We are supposed to try again my I feel discouraged. My husband sperm is low and my right fallopian tube is blocked. I haven’t got my period yet, to start the process again but do want to see what could make my next process successful
When they wash the sperm to prep for iui, do they choose the sperm that are most viable or do they just use all of it?

Hi doctor, I am suffering with pcos, trying to conceive for the past 1 year , I had 2 cycles of timed intercourse with letrozole and follicle on 1st cycle is 18mm , 2nd cycle is 30mm and 3rd cycle with clomid , follicle size is 26mm, and also doctor gave me trigger shots on each cycle , but I got my period again, This time doctor may perform IUI will it be more successful than timed intercourse , please mention what should be the ideal size of follicle to release healthy egg, please reply doctor
This is just my opinion, but the 5 tips provided, isn’t this the standard steps in the IUI process… I never thought this was an optional thing.

IVF as they can fertilise the eggs outside the body then put them in you whereas iui the sperm still has to travel and make its own way to the egg I'd have IVF over iui but IVF is so much more expensive

I had started IUI treatment from yesterday and I want to know in how many days will i get pregnant and can we have hot shower bath is fine or not. After the treatment after how much time can we go for washroom.Please pray for me. Thank you 🙏🙏
Ask your doctor these questions but I was told a warm bath is fine. A scalding hot one isn't recommended & no hot tubs. Your doctor should have told you to take a pregnancy test 14 days after your iui, if you haven't started a period. Some people will get super faint lined before 14 days past, but it's jist going to put you through a roller coaster of emotions & stress you out if it's super faint. So it's best to wait until you will for sure see a dark line, because stress hormones override pregnancy hormones.

My question is if I am already receiving a positive surge on my own with the help of 7 days of Letozole, is a trigger shot still deemed helpful? I am taking 5 mg pregnyl injections for 3 days after letrozle mainly because this combination has helped me produce 2 mature follicles. But a trigger shot has not been recommended to me. I am obviously working closely with my fertility doctor but was curious as to what your thoughts were. I wasn’t sure if trigger shots were only for women who were not seeing positive surges after the use letrozole.

You can combine IUI with medication to help recruit, mature and egg and time the IUI with another med to trigger ovulation

No specific medication needed in general. You could talk to your doctor about supplements , aspirin, progesterone but not everyone needs extra - sending you ❤️🤞🍍

Not sure is true or not but I heard its better to ovulate naturally and iui better rate than putting all the shots and pills . Because the shot pills can cause chemical pregnancy
What about IUI with successful tubal reanastomosis? I only have 3cm of tube left and my husband has semen volume. We have been trying for 3 months with letrozole and timed intercourse with no luck so far. Next month starts IUI cycles.
