  • The length of time it takes for in vitro fertilization (IVF) can vary depending on several factors, including the individual's medical history, age, and fertility issues.
The IVF process typically involves several steps, including:
Ovarian stimulation: This involves taking fertility drugs to encourage the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. This process usually takes around two weeks.
Egg retrieval: This is a minor surgical procedure that involves collecting the eggs from the ovaries. This procedure usually takes around 20-30 minutes.
Fertilization: This involves combining the eggs with sperm in a laboratory. This process usually takes one day.
Embryo culture: After fertilization, the embryos are monitored in a laboratory to ensure they are developing normally. This process can take up to five days.
Embryo transfer: This is the process of transferring the embryos to the uterus. This usually takes around 15 minutes.
Overall, the entire IVF process typically takes around 4-6 weeks from the start of ovarian stimulation to embryo transfer. However, it's important to note that every individual's situation is unique, and the length of the IVF process can vary. But in this video I'll share the timeline and the entire IVF process!

This was VERY GOOD!! Thank you for putting this video out there. Our first cycle of IVF we ended up with the 1 egg we had to do a fresh transfer and then we had 1 that we froze to use at a later date. I wish what I know now then, because I would NEVER do a fresh transfer not being able to genetically test in time. So we ended up going through pregnancy 3 months before losing the baby and the office neglected to let us know that the frozen embryo was abnormal....I could have bypassed this miscarriage all in all if i froze both eggs to find out they were abnormal. Again you are being thrown so much information at you and in the very beginning I never knew if I was coming or going. So to all the woman out there deciding to do fresh or frozen, definitely go with FROZEN :) I will save you the turmoil. It was very very very rough for me to go through this miscarriage when ultimately it didnt need to happen the way it did. I wish my doctor was more thorough and explained the differences between them more clearly. So thank you Dr. Lora to putting this very put together video for the rest of us :) :) I thank you very much.

    First round took 4 months.
Second round (3 years later) took 8 months.
The longest period is getting the referrals, waiting list for specialist, doing all the tests, waiting for results, scans, getting your protocol, nurse education. And a hundred and one consent forms!

Had another blood test after retrieval.hopefully we get answer this coming Wednesday. The logistic and emotional roller coaster of doing IVF.

So helpful~ thank you so much for the information! I don’t know if my clinic just doesn’t want to overwhelm me so they don’t tell me most of the things. But for someone who’s total control freak, I rather know everything and be as prepared as I possibly could which made me feel a lot better to know where things at and have the most reasonable expectations.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I’m gonna do my egg retrieval the first time next week…
