As long as carpeted bathrooms don't come back!
Omg I know-so nasty
Completely agree!
😂😂
What was that!!!😳
The horror!
Oh hells bells- hidden leaks are HORRIBLE! Also, I love that Garrett is often thinking about elderly, or disabled when it comes to use. He knows all about CAPS, I'm sure! This is wonderful that it informs his ideas.
Not only hate vessel sinks but also sinks undermounted the countertop. The most simple one to clean is a sink that is integrated with the countertop in one piece
“Animal…don’t invite them back.” I love your way with words! 😄❤️😄
Thank you! 😊
@@GarrettLeChic love you- and your videos.
Wall mounted faucets are a waterfall poised to melt drywall. Classic is timeless for a reason.
@@TheStipple I don’t like pot fillers either. They might look good but they are a flood waiting to happen. And besides, you still have to lug the full pot of water to the sink to empty.
@@londastreeter7269you are so right!
Classics are classics for a reason :-) Stick with them. Function, then form! Life will be easier and happier!
There is nothing so magical and luxurious to me, than an original Art Deco bathroom..
Agreed!
Another stellar example of why I love your videos! You address design AND practicalities! And, bless you, it isn't all the varied shades of gray so many other channels endorse. I have gotten to the point that I HATE gray, lol!
Thanks so much!
"First of all, Animal, don't invite them back" 😂😂😂
My mom always taught me to leave a place as clean or cleaner than you found it. I have trouble being kind to people who missed that lesson😂 thank you for the validation!😂😂
I was taught the same. 😊
I remember the bathroom in my great grandparents house. It was pink and black. They lived in a wonderful old house, tons of character. It had a laundry shoot which us kids thought was the best thing in the entire world.
I’d give just about anything to have a vintage bath like that! Mine has pink walls and vintage decor but the white fixtures annoy me greatly.
I love the medicine cabinets i added to my bathroom when remodeling!
Love that!
My aunt and uncle had a lilac bathtub, sink, toilet combo in the early 60’s.i loved it back then. It will be interesting see how far this “new” trend goes. I’m sticking with white. 😊
Hmmm that sounds interesting. I'd want to see it in person.
Lilac! OH I LOVE THAT!!!! Dang 1960’s..if u were a kid then u had really great taste 😊
My cousin had the same. I was just remembering that lilac tub when I saw your comment. Unfortunately the house and tub did not survive as it was torn down for a major road project.
MCM design is widely popular and it’s not going to go away.
Hate vessel sinks. They're hard to reach, splash prone and very hard to clean around. Real mildew/mold collectors.
Agreed
Washing your face in vessel sink is an absolute nightmare,
I feel the same way about freestanding tubs.
@@tastx3142 Exactly! Same problems.
Practicall everything can look like a public toilet. We have vessel sinks. Every disadvantage stated is true but they give personally in the room. We take the extra few seconds to clean after using them.
You right that vessel sink needs to be on the right height! And the right size to minimize the splash. I'm going to put one in my new bathroom!
Yes! Medicine cabinet! Love a clean counter. Planning to install one as my house now doesn't have one in any bathroom. The original owner put the money in better windows, infrastructure, etc and skimped on interior, I'm told. So I don't mind to have medicine cabinets installed, gives me a chance to buy better and not have to deal with disposal. Thank you Garrett! You're fabulously funny as always.
Thanks so much!
I love me some Mamie Pink 1950s bathrooms!❤❤❤
There's a hotel near Washington DC called The Americana that has pink bathrooms from the 50s. Loved the one in my room. Obviously well maintained.
@@liddybird3608Awwwe heavenly!
I have had a vessel sink for a good while and I do enjoy it. I have no problems with it.
In my previous house we remodeled our master bathroom and I created custom medicine cabinets set between the studs and were extra tall. A added an additional cabinet on an unused side wall adjacent to a sink. I had the doors made to size and had a glass store cut shelves to size. I laid everything out on the floor to accommodate taller containers so I would know how many I needed. It was so much easier to find items rather than digging in a drawer or cabinet, even with a pull out shelf. The cost was reasonable since we did the work ourselves and when we sold the house, the wife loved the improvements we had done.
Can we bring back laundry-shoots??? My my home when my kids were little had this. It was amazing!!!!
I agree! Once lived in a home that had a chute to the laundry in the basement and loved it. So did my children. Now I have a one-level home so no need for a laundry chute, but I sure did love it. My now grown children also remember the fun they had with it, too.
@@user-yw7vw2hu7t Once my kids move out, I'll downsize. In a smaller ranch home I'll have the laundry on main floor🥳🎉
LOVE A MEDICINE CABINET ❤❤❤❤
👍👍👍
Now tell me how to get my husband to put his things INTO the cabinet!😂😂
My husband finally puts his bathroom stuff on a tray that he can put in a drawer or on a cabinet shelf when we have guests or cleaners. Of course there are drawers with dividers right there that he doesn’t use. He has ADD so I could write a book about my creative accommodations. We didn’t even know about ADD for the first 20 years. Such is the power of Love…and creativity. 😂
@@lillianbarker4292 my husband just really likes to be able to see all his stuff. The minute its in the drawer (even though i put ONLY his things in that drawer) he said he can't find them. It's pretty funny. He'll stare directly at the contents of the drawer and say "where's my deodorant?" I'll reach under his nose and pick it up and he will say "oh. Right there. Thanks".
“No Garrett it’s not the thing “ 😂
Garrett: oh yes it is the thing ! ❤
I really agree about the vessels sink and the splashing that’s totally not OK with a silk blouse
Vessel sinks---can be cute in a guest bath; completely splashy and stupid in a family bathroom. I don't have a medicine cabinet and I really, really want one. They hide a multitude of sins.
The main thing I enjoy about my vessel sinks is the extra height. It gives the sink area more dimension and it’s much easier to use as it requires less bending over. I kept the regular sinks for my guest bathrooms for children if needed.
I like the look of some of the vessel sinks. But I would never have one because they’re not practical. I absolutely love a pedestal sink. If I had a little half bath or powder room, I would definitely have one.
I love medicine cabinets. I rant so I move a lot or I move a lot so I rant-- but I hate getting in a place with just some flat mirror on the wall over the sink and no medicine cabinet. And, they need to be sunk into the wall.
* I rent-- and rant occasionally
Your outstanding expertise is only matched by your stellar personality 🌸
Thank you so much 😀
Glad to hear traditional faucets are making a comeback. I love modern design but I just can't do a wall mounted faucet in my own home.
The house I bought has a vessel sink in the powder room. Water splashes everywhere. 😮
I love bronze too! And a medicine cabinet is a must - when did they do away with them? I so agree about everything else especially vessel sinks! Thank you Garrett! ☺️😍😊❤️🥰☀️🌴🦩❤️❤️🥰🥰
Ten years ago my architect pointed out to me the problems with the walled faucets and he said exactly what you said that walled faucets look great until there is a leak. After hearing that, you couldn’t pay me to have a walled faucet
@@lizhoward9754 i was in a house with walled faucets once and the pipes were OUTSIDE the wall with the vanity like a pedestal . (It was a refurbished farmhouse in rural Michigan). I reveal thinking it looked really cool but was a pain for upkeep and the owner told me they had replumbed the ENTIRE house and had put as much piping out of the wall as possible to avoid having to cut onto walls again
I put a medicine cabinet in my bathroom in 2018-all mirrored insidd and out. i love classic, PRACTICAL design.
How wonderful to hear that color in tile and bathroom fixtures is making a come back. I hope the trend catches up with kitchen appliances as well. I'm totally done with stainless steel everything. We did a bathroom remodeling some 6 years ago and the one thing I asked my contractor was to leave the medicine cabinets in place. He tried to convince me that they were "out" etc but I stood my ground. Thank you Garrett!
In the process of redoing a 60 pink bathroom. I kept the pink tub. We’re putting all new pink tile in. ❤️😊
What about the loo?? Vintage ones are available.
Medicine cabinets!!! Hadn't had one for over 30 years, then we stayed in an AirBnB with a mirrored inside cabinet over the sink, and I was enthralled! We're rebuilding after a natural disaster and all bathrooms but the Powder Room will have Medicine Cabinets! I may get pushback in the Master Bedroom though. If I have to have a huge mirror, where do you suggest the lights be placed?
I’d have to see the mirror and the space to give an intelligent opinion. Every specific situation is different. I’m glad to assist and welcome you to book a virtual consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic The available times you see are already in your time zone. 😁
I love a vessel sink when there’s little counter space. It’s so convent to put on make up and blow dry hair, as there’s more space under most of the bowl if it has a rounded base.
Vessel sinks look nice in photos but I wouldn’t want one. Seems like it would be inconvenient and not easy to keep clean around the edges. I love the retro colors ❤ I don’t know what materials our builder (flipped manufactures home) used in our showers but is amazing. Always looks beautiful ❤ I also agree that you are gorgeous. I’ve said that before but sometimes I just have to say again! 😊. (I’m old (er), not dead 😂😂)
Good point!
Ha! Finally caught one in the first hour! You are teaching me so much about how to style my new home! Thanks, Garrett! 💖😊
You are so welcome! I appreciate your support.
My parents bought a house in Central Florida 40 years ago. It was a spec house, and was brand new construction. The guest bathroom had cedar walls and dark brown porcelain sink and toilet. It doesn't sound great, but it was actually very nice. You've mentioned that you are from central Florida, so you know that the water here is very hard. Every day the toilet and sink had to be cleaned to remove the hard water stains and the ring that would form in the toilet (regardless if anyone had used the toilet). It was a massive pain in the a**. I hated using the cleaner needed to remove the hard water stains, it's so caustic. At the ripe old age of 21 I vowed to never have a toilet or sink that was anything but white porcelain. When we bought our current house, the bathroom sinks and toilets and shower surround were that awful putty color that was so popular in the late 80's & 90's. We literally went from the closing to Home Depot and bought 2 white porcelain toilets and my husband took out the ugly putty toilets and installed the new white ones. Over time we replaced the vanity tops, sinks and surrounds. Every morning I clean the bathrooms. It takes less than 15 minutes and my bathrooms are clean and LOOK clean. It may be old school and boring, but for me, a white bathroom is timeless and classic. I added color with paint and towels. I hate clutter on my vanity , but our cabinets have plenty of drawers and storage and it 😅always looks clean and tidy.
I LOVE colored ceramics. I wish my hubby would agree to a pink floral bathroom. He won't even agree to like a mostly black shower tile 😂
We have a vessel sink. There's just the two of us and we're old enough to not turn the bathroom into a disaster zone. Cleaning under it hasn't been an issue, and the faucet doesn't splash out of the basin.
And it looks gorgeous.
Awesome that it works out great in your particular situation.
Garrett I did like the video within the first hour on tv 😊. Comment took a bit to post. FIRST I LOVE the shout out to the COLORED Ceramic!!! That pink toilet and tub YESSS!!!!! I was the person that asked about them when u went live (which I also loved). YES Gen Z has taste and doesn’t want dull white anymore!!!! (I hope 🤞🤞🤞). Purples, Greens ..heck give me a Rainbow ❤❤❤❤❤. TY Garrett for sharing that wonderful moment!!
Thanks so much for your support! I’m glad you enjoyed. 🤗🤗🤗
I love following trends if nothing else, because it gives me an idea if I can get the things I've always wanted on sale or whatnot now. I loved jewel tones and art deco since undergrad. It's resurgence is nice, but also looking forward to the trend chilling so I can afford it once everyone else gets tired of it and I can use it in a more classic way.
❤ always wondered about the risks of a leak being tough to get to, with a wall mounted faucet. Thanks for the info and making the decision for me!
I put in a vessel sink in a 1968 mobile home gut-reno. The previous sink hit me mid-thigh! I'm tall! I loved my vessel sink & provided a steppy-stool for my vertically-challenged friend. 😉
We had a vessel sink in our RV and it was hated! I LOVE medicine cabinets and Bronze and two toned hardware moments.
Never considered the extra traction that the grout lines in a more complicated floor tile design might provide. Will consider for the future. Also love a medicine cabinet. I want beautiful designs that provide smart storage solutions and use otherwise dead spaces.
Viva le medicine cabinet!
Agree with you ! Obviously function over form. Hate vessel sinks. And wall mounted taps. In fact, in our new build, as we’re in. Tropical country, we’ve opted to put all the electric cables inside the house. Not ideal aesthetically but can be disguised. There could be lots of problems with lizards getting inside.
Years ago I moved into a place that had a med peach and black bathroom. So not my colors, never has been and no way would I choose it, but it grew on me and played it up. This was very early 90's but the tiles were least 50 yrs old but excellent condition.
You brought up a good point about mosaic tile, slip/traction! Brilliant! ❤
Glad you liked it!
I'm so happy I found your channel couple months ago! Your content is incredibly helpful for real people, and even though that sounds so obvious is not. Most channels only give ideas for mansions and the expectations are so unrealistic. Love your personality and tips ❤
Thanks so much! We make videos discussing many different design styles and issues as well as videos for all budgets. Welcome to the channel! It’s great to have you as a part of our very valued subscriber family.
I like a vessel sink but never again on a wooden surface. Great for me, but nobody else seemed to be able to respect it and I prefer a more simple life.
I LOVE a coloured bathroom sink and was very sad to leave a 1930s turquoise pedesatl basin and toilet in my last house. Somehow the water seemd more beautiful ❤
Thanks for sharing!
I have a double vanity and am always fighting my husband for space. A vessel sink would take away valuable counter space!
Amen- the large tile in the bath was the dumb thing to do. I have slipped more than once.
You bet, I LOVE retro bathrooms with colored ceramic and tile!!
I own a home. I worry about water leaks . . . Wall mounted faucets ? No thanks.
What a joy (not) to work on or replace, or fix a leak. In the wall.
If you have a Kohler toilet, beware. Something about the wax ring and secure attachment to the plumbing is wonky. That's how ours leaked and did some pretty effin bad damage. The plumbers told us it was comon for that brand.
@@juliettebobcat704 thanks for the heads up
Yes, Let’s talk medicine cabinets! Mine is wreaked. Can you talk about lighting above the medicine cabinet? My fixture is frosted up lit and the chrome has pitted. What metal will hold up in steam?
In honor of your aesthetics today I sat through two ads. 😄❤️🐩
I love Bronze! I always think of all the magnificent front doors all over Europe and they all have beautiful bronze locks and latches! Fabulous!
I totally agree!
@Garrett LeChic, always enjoy seeing your selections of design photo examples, & hearing your design-pro analysis! Thank you for yet another excellent episode!
🙏🌿💐🌿😊💚😘🌿💐🌿🙏
My pleasure!
I would love to have a blue/grey bathroom.
We’re renovating our half-bath now with mosaic marble hex tile and oil-rubbed bronze. Classic!
Sounds very nice!
I love oil rubbed bronze. I have it everywhere in my house. I’m going to keep it. It can go in and out of style for the next 20 years I don’t care. I love it.
Love a vessel sink…. Just would not have one…..yes my parents had matching fixtures in the bathroom…. Beige in main bath & powder blue ceramic and fixtures in the owners bathroom…..loved the video…. Thanks for sharing ❤
Love my vessel sink
Another maybe outdated thing I’ve gone for….a stainless steel double sink with draining board. My daughter has one farmhouse sun and no drawing board and it drives me crazy. Nowhere to stack what you’ve washed. And of course we all have dishwashers but still…..
Vessel sinks make me so irrationally angry! 😂
Me too.
I adore the look of vessel sinks. However I don’t have a maid. I have to do the cleaning in my house and don’t have the time or energy to keep them clean and looking like the perfect pictures. Same with the “birdbath” pedestal sink-where do we put the stuff?
Eeeek ! The anticipation!
😊😊😊
I think I caught this/liked during the first hour. Another RUclipsr once mentioned that "liking" a video at least 6 minutes into the video was more helpful than earlier in the video. Do you know if this is so? Anything else that the algorithms notice?
Also: I do love bronze!
It helps the channel grow if people watch and like a video within the first hour. The sooner within that hour the better. I appreciate all views and especially appreciate those who want to help us grow.
I want to know this. Sometimes I use the like feature just to remind me I've already seen it. I'd wait to like if it helps Garrett!
@@juliettebobcat704 The more likes the better! I appreciate it greatly when people watch the videos as soon as they come out because that helps channel growth immensely. I also understand people have lives and that sometimes they can’t watch it immediately and watch later. The more views the better!
lol I have TWO vessel sinks and I love them! one in my bathroom and one in the half bath!! no children and not a lot of traffic!!! lol. my grandkids bathrooms have regular sinks nd there is water over their cabinet. Cheers
Okay, I would need about 5 medicine cabinets. LOL!
Good Morning Garrett,
I loved the classic comeback vlog:)
Honestly earlier until I met you I was attracted to the floating faucets and vessel sink😬but once I started following you I started understanding the basics of why not, so thanks for that🙂
I totally did not know about this comeback of coloured bathroom and I really am not great fan of it, my in laws back home have a sky blue bathroom, the tiles and everything and somehow I feel it’s never cleaned to the perfection. Hence am not into it but yes everything boils down to how you maintain it!!
I love love medicine cabinets and totally agree with its utility and Le chic ness 😍, for sure next time🙃
You have a wonderful week ahead and thank you for the beautiful vlog🥰🤗
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed. Have a lovely week!🤗🤗🤗
@@GarrettLeChic thank you..xx
I love my new house but there is no backslash on the kitchen and i cook 2 to 3 meals a day. I really REALLY want a mosaic tile backslash.
I have bronze and brushed nickel mixed metal in my house I bought two years ago and I was just waiting for it to come back. Ta-da! The time is now! Also, updated the medicine cabinets, because I have stuff too.
I like wall-mounted faucet, easy to clean and more space on countertop. I live in Europe (Poland). 90% of houses are brick buildings here, so the destructive effect of possible leaks is much smaller.
I wish I had known about you when I had a pink tiled bathroom and didn’t know what to do with it. Unfortunately you probably weren’t born yet. 😂
I thought wall mounted taps would be great so there’s no wet patches around the base of the taps. Instead when you go to turn the tap off with wet hands all the drips are behind the sink and need constant wiping up. Had them in a hotel so glad I found out before choosing them. Rain showers: I don’t want to wash my long hair every night and have to wet my face the whole shower unless I want to put a 45 degree angle in my back each time to keep my head dry.
Love this! ❤
My daughter just moved and the previous owner renovated the main bathroom recently. He added a vessel sink and my daughter hates it, she has three children 6 and under. Such a mess. She is now contemplating redoing the vanity.
Lived with a pink/black tile in the bathroom all through high school. I just couldn't again 😊
I can understand that!
Medicine cabinets are a necessity…most of us actually take medicine!
This is wonderful 😎
Thanks so much!
Yes! Thank you❤🎉
You are so welcome!
I once lived in a house with dark brown bathroom ceramics. It was awful, never looked clean because of hard water splashes!
We are moving and I would like some ideas about how to do a gallery wall, with a variety of images and styles of art, if that blending is even possible.
Gallery walls can be awesome! I have one in my home, and I’ve spoken about them before in previous videos. If you’d like my opinions on how to create one with your specific art and photos, I’m glad to assist, but I’d have to see the space and your pieces. Please feel free to book a virtual consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic Available times are already shown in your time zone. 😊
Love the look of a vessel sink..would never have one in my home. Pictures look amazing though.
Thanks so much!
Hate vessel sinks-a cleaning hassle and the faucet is an issue.
Stupid. Lets’s get real..
I just installed a low profile vassel sink in my bathroom. Its beautiful. I do feel you, though, on the splashing. The faucet is a bit tall maybe a lower one will help
Color in tiles impossible to find, So I had to settle for white 4*4 and a colored wall to bring some classy color into a bathroom.
I love a medicine cabinet. I was so sad I couldn't put one in my master bath (the laundry closet electric and plumbing on the other side of the wall prevented it). Went with a cabinet over the toilet instead.
Love love your channel! ❤ How about bathroom vanity styles and tile selections that are timeless Garret!!!!! 😊
Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying.
Great video as always and such a great sense of humor!❤
Thanks so much!
Gareth, I bought a house in which there are no medicine cabinets. I didn’t even realize it when I bought the house that’s a long story. It’s a gorgeous house with beautiful views, but let me tell you I wish I had them. I have to store all my medicines in drawersand lay it down it just doesn’t work
Agree 100% about medicine cabinets. Our last house was a new build and didn’t have any and it drove me nuts.
I was about to get rid of all my bronze... absolutely NOT because Garrett said SO
Right there with you, except…no can do on the retro pastel tile.
Hello 👋🏼 I didn't like the wall mount faucets
🤗☑️☑️
I had wanted backlit mirrors in my new bathroom, but when we were traveling across the country, every hotel we stayed in had them. We don’t stay at luxury hotels (think Super 8 and it’s ilk). All of a sudden, something that had seemed elegant, lowered its esteem for me.
Designers don’t live with their “designs”. Walk mounted faucets are a repair disaster.
