      The market is reflective of consumers. If you educate consumers, overtime they will make their own decisions. You don't see teenagers going to their seminars, but serious people who legitimately want to learn.

      Nate I think the people who can learn will. At this point, probably half the strength coaches/athletes I enjoy have done crossfit at some point, and they decide they want something different and branch out. It's like Planet Fitness style gyms: people get some fitness experience under their belts and decide they want something more, so they transition to a different discipline. Those who are like, "nope, just gonna do this" are probably gonna be fine just "being active." But like the man says, we get more barbells in more people's hands and get them to experience work. The marketed version of everything always seems more popular. As much as we would like everyone to experience "the way," not everyone will jump on that train for whatever reason.

    It's extremely refreshing to see strength coaches who are not carrying around excess body fat. I've been becoming extremely interested in strength training but everyone else promoting it seems to be carrying around big guts and apparently never train their arms. Subscribed!

    You guys are awesome! I love the clinical and scientific backed answers to all the questions. I was a college athlete and a military veteran (years of lifting experience) at 41 yoa. No cartilage in my knees and was told by my ortho to quit squatting heavy and deadlifting. So I did for a bit and lost tons of strength and leg muscle. So I have researched all this and over came these obstacles and im squatting 345 for reps deadlifting 405 for 5 and continuing to regain strength and confidence. Alot of this I give credit to you guys. I recommend you guys to all my friends and everyone starting out keep up the great work!

    On the question training in the morning. What to eat?
    If you're anything like me, i.e. wake up, get out of bed and just go to the gym, I'd recommend:
    1. A whey protein drink with a couple of scoops of instant coffee. Prepared the night before. Just grab it out of the fridge.
    2. Maybe a cold glass of water, if you been sweeting over the night, and feel dehydrated.
    3. Some dry fruits like dates, rasin, apricots, mangos, etc. Fast carbs, easy to eat, and easy broken down and rarely upset your stomach. You can also bring a small bag of these with you to the gym and nibble on if needed.
    Going with a banana or oats are many times too much in the morning, unless you are going to sit around the kitchen table for 45 min before training.
    Cheers! 😊
    P.S. I prefer training in the evening, but I do train in the morning from time to time. If your plan is shedding some weight and becoming more fit, adding a low intensity cardio session in the morning is perfect, but if you do, drop the carbs in the above recommendation.

    I think you guys would absolutely love Rob Orlando's outlook about crossfit and it's "athletes" (which he always says with a snicker). Recently took his Strongman Seminar in which he spoke about how crossfitters are are thinking if their training as an "athletic endeavor" (due to the Open and Games) when they should just be viewing it as a "fitness program." One of the best take aways for me from the seminar. Definitely helped me level my head out as a "competitive athlete," and overall a really blunt and clear perspective about truly getting stronger. Like k said, think you guys would appreciate it.
    Otherwise, I absolutely love the content! I recommend your podcast to everyone looking for more info. Keep doing what you guys do and I hope to attend the next seminar you host in Sacramento in the future! Thanks!

      I know what you mean. I was on a single use pass at a box while traveling during my Starting Strength Linear Progression. I showed up during box's "open gym" period. I was into my warmup sets on my final lift, the deadlift. Bing went the clock. "Barbell Club" started, and the guy running the place said I had to stop immediately. I asked if I could finish my last few sets in a corner of the gym (there was certainly room). He said he couldn't allow it. He did offer to let me join them in Barbell Club. I think they were doing snatches.

    22:33 how does one get into this position? By providing a lot of people with a lot of free practical information that they can use. By being transparent and sincere. By not being arrogant, by not dissing other people's work, by not being salty. You know, maybe you should ask Alan Thrall, cause he is in that position.

      Григорий Шаханов Personally, I prefer to listen to straightforward, intellectual conversation such as this rather than poop stories and nonsensical rambling.

    • @BarbellMedicine
      @BarbellMedicine  6 лет назад +2

      It's more of a tongue in cheek comment. We've likely coached more people than the people I mentioned and we're putting out better information. What is interesting is that neither character exhibits the traits you mention. We continue to expand our sphere of influence and get the message out so, it's working.

    • @shagral_
      @shagral_ 6 лет назад

      Me too. But about 40% of the intellectual conversation turns out to be shitting on other people's content for the sake of self-affirmation. Look at this video - shitting on Crossfit, shitting on Mark Bell, shitting on Wendler. And I don't like any of these things btw. But all these "shitty" people/organizations with their bad information have helped more people than our intellectual mr. MD here can ever hope to.
