    That's the strongest explanation I've heard of metabolic damage by far by exponential degrees.

    The answer at 10:51 was really helpful for me. I'd been running a (theoretical) calorie deficit since about February, plateaued around September, and managed to put on around 10 pounds over the holidays.
    Sure enough, if I look at my activity logs: weight lifting stayed the same, martial arts stayed the same. I've ingrained those two physical practices as habits and don't allow myself to skip them. The pedometer on my phone, however, says I went from around 12,000 steps per day to averaging around a third of that. I had been hiking or walking every day, but that fell off as I gave myself breaks (it's rainy, it's cold, I'm not feeling it today, whatever). Even when I went for a hike or a walk, my totals would be around 7,500 steps which is a pretty dramatic drop off in just moving around.
    I'm also pretty sure that the calories in portion of the equation climbed since Thanksgiving...oh, someone brought cookies or donuts or whatever to the office! Holiday parties. I'm stressed, it's okay if I have 2 glasses of wine instead of one... That would obviously explain the weight gain versus simply being at a plateau.

    Jordan can ascribe order to chaos, and yet he cannot be expressed as a rational number. He really is Feigenbaum's Constant.

    Happy holidays, Dr. Feigenbaum. Have you ever considered getting on a larger platform, such as the "Joe Rogan Experience", to present you and BBM's ground-breaking approach to strength, conditioning, and health?

    Hey guys - appreciate your content. A few months back, Alan Thrall mentioned how Dr. Baraki helped him recover from a back "tweak". He mentioned unloaded deadlifts and air squats. I'd love to see a video on this, and I'm sure much of your audience would too. Thanks again for all your great work.

    Been watching a lot of videos talking about this Rhabdomyolysis mainly in Crossfit but i think it can happen to others who overdo it. Any input on that as regards lifting and stuff? I never knew it was an issue until watching a lot of YT videos the last couple days about it. Merry Christmas.

    • @tzqrr
      @tzqrr 6 лет назад +7

      "Input as regards lifting and stuff"? What's your actual question here?

    • @garysellars8914
      @garysellars8914 6 лет назад

      What i mean is have you guys ever encountered this in the weightlifting community? If so how hard were the people training who got it? I mean the advice is just don't go crazy and push it too far but being careful and not pushing too far is kind of vague. They say it's caused by extreme muscle breakdown and that affects the kidneys so can that happen to a guy who lifts weights rather than to say a crossfit athlete?

    • @tzqrr
      @tzqrr 6 лет назад +4

      I have never seen a case of it among people doing basic strength training.

    • @garysellars8914
      @garysellars8914 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks. No i've never heard of it apart from Crossfit type training where over the top amounts of work are involved. I just got a little paranoid because i do stuff like 100 burpee challenges, warrior challenges etc stuff like that as well as squats deadlifts etc

    When are you going to take AB off the leash and let him argue with you? It'll increase your views, probably. I'm just sayin, he often looks like he's holding something back, it'd be fun to see it in public. Then again I suck at fitting in...
