Thank you for doing this. I just purchased tickets to see ELO IN October in the US, quickly followed by David Gilmour. This is absolutely incredible music.

This song is simply Perfection. I can't avoid tears when I listen to it. It is perfect inside and out.
This guy, Lynne, these people, do not look human... ❤️

I was fortunate to see Jeff 3 times during their more recent tours. Perfect performances. All were sell out crowds, including 51,000 fans over 3 nights at the famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Looks like ELO has transcended time and has grown in stature. Many of their 1970s contemporaries couldn’t say the same. Jeff is also being inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2023.

" The only flaw that Jeff Lynne has..is that he supports Birmingham City FC" as a Villa fan , cant argue with that . UTV. having said that im a massive ELO fan , seen them many times since i was growing up in Birmingham. Jeff Lynne is a musical genius . This concert is from Wembley Stadium, 24th June 2017 in front of 60,000 people . I was there it was a fantastic night. i suggest you buy the dvd Wembley or Bust, well worth the money.

Jeff is indeed aware of how special these moments are, he went on to write and record a song about it called Time Of Our Lives.

Jeff Lynne is a musical genius and a great producer. He was born in my home town of Birmingham. I agree he sounds just as good live, if not better, than he does on the studio versions. He was still touring just before the pandemic. He was also in the band 'The Travelling Willburys' with George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. My favourite song is 'All Over The World' which just makes you happy and want to dance.

Thanks, Mister - I love ELO - and in this live concert, Jeff's voice is great - but it does eventually use some echo & reverb - although probably not necessary... but for "effect" to match the production - have you heard him with "Traveling Wilburys"? the super-est of super-groups, evah - IMHO -- appreciate your reaction! (p.s. I love your assessment of Jeff's "only flaw"... lol)

Wonderful and competent reaction. Some reacteurs make the mistake of _not_ interrupting, and put their face in a tiny corner of the video. Here, your reaction is in focus, and I can _tell_ that the music moves you. Nice.
I got into ELO in 1981 when I was a boy of 13 years age. As new albums weren't soon forthcoming (just two more in the eighties) I dug into their older stuff. An expedition of a lifetime, I now think I know just about every song by heart. I also saw Jeff in Copenhagen in 2018, it was perfect!
Two suggestions, from two things you said. First, you said your parent had all albums. But did they also have Jeff's earlier stuff? If not, I hope you will check it out, the Idle Race is like a proto-ELO, just younger and crisper in a way. Try _Please No More Sad Songs_ - a very sad song actually, thematically a lot like _Telephone Line_ . Or the one dearest to me, _The Lady Who Said She Could Fly_ - a mysterious, magical song. Or maybe it's about an airplane...
You also mentioned Jeff's voice. There are some videos on YT, where Jeff performs some of his songs unplugged, with just his acoustic guitar and Richard Tandy on piano. You'll love these. They show once and for all that ELO = JL and he needs no string section or orchestra to be out of this world amazing.

Jeff Lynne is an absolute genius. He is a singer, songwriter, producer and sound engineer. He has produced songs for Tom Petty, George Harrison and many others. He and George were great friends. My favorite ballad by Jeff and ELO is Dont Walk Away, from the 1980 musical with Olivia Newton John called Xanadu. Very nice review, i was able to hear the guitar. Very cool.

I have to agree that the first time I watched and listened to this video on RUclips, I couldn't believe at how great Jeff and his band sounded on this song! I have always been a fan of ELO and I believe that first song I ever heard by them was "Evil Woman" back in 1975. Music just doesn't get any better than this and it is hard to not feel emotional when listening to music this great!👍

Great reaction! But, I prefer to say: Great Analysis. For 27 years, I managed a staff of 11 financial (insurance) analysts. The detail one gets from analyzing is satisfying. I’m also a football coach in the US and attended a 3-day match analysis coaching course put on by the Dutch KNVB back in 2003. Your multiple pauses did not bother me. After the first two, I knew when you paused, you were going offer an interesting piece of detail…especially when YOU YOURSELF paused momentarily after you paused the video. Tonight, I watched multiple ELO-Telephone Line reaction videos before I came upon yours. Yours was the best. I should probably subscribe…yes?

As for what he must have felt playing in Wembley to such big audience, that actually inspired a song called Time of our Life which came out in his latest album "From out of nowhere". Going by the name Jeff Lynne's ELO, in the studio it's all pretty much himself, and live it's with this live band and orchestra without any other former ELO members.

If you watch their performance of All Over The World at Hyde Park. Jeff says a few words to the crowd with some emotions about how blown away he is and its just fantastic he says. I think that can show you some of what it must feel like for him

The band here is made up of session pros. They are all far superior players to those in the original band. In my view it is miles better than the original recording.

    • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer Год назад

@@kingstumble The studio recording for the 1976 album was done by a full orchestra comprised of full-time professional classical musicians, in addition to the three resident strings players in the band, and in addition to the rock musicians in the band. As great as this sounds, it cannot compare to studio version. And as great as Jeff's voice has held up and sounded in this 2017 concert, it was WAY better in '76. The 2001 album, Zoom, is the last time we heard anything close to Jeff's voice at full strength.

@@produceathome As far as i know not. He did work with George Harrison and they were together in the “Traveling Wilburys”. They did the song “Handle with care” from the Traveling Wilburys in the ELO concerts from 2017 and 2018.

@@produceathome No, Jeff did not write any songs for The Beatles. You may be thinking of the two unfinished Lennon tracks that Paul, George and Ringo asked Jeff to produce for their 1995 Beatles Anthology albums....which Jeff did, and did exceptionally well. The songs are called, "Free As A Bird", and, "Real Love".
