Saw them live in Chicago in '76 and they were this good! Almost 50 years later & they're still on of my favorite bands. Doesn't get much better than E.L.O.
This song always brings a tear to my eyes. When my longtime gf passed I would call her phone to listen to her voice. I never cried so much in my life. I saw them perform this live in the late seventies. 2015 it took a whole new meaning!
Jeff’s backup band is amazing and everyone pulls their weight. You are right, the ambience and audience is there. The couples dancing and enjoying the night is icing on the cake. A few years ago, ELO toured and Jeff Flynn took George Harrison’s son (Dani Harrison) on tour as the opening act. Strong bond there.
the minute he spoke when the song started half the world wanted to strangle him. what music person speaks over the start to a song let alone a classic!!! wow!
That was a masterful performance and I actually preferred it to the original studio version. Jeff Lynne's forte for me has always been as a melodist and he's written some of the most beautiful songs with some of the most wonderful hooks. Like the great rock and roll melodists before him: Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney and John Lennon he delivers on every level. He's also a brilliant arranger and producer as well, the complete package!
I remember slow dancing to this song back in my school days. This has always been my favorite song from ELO. Wonderful memories, thank you. I love your reaction.
My son and I saw Jeff Lynne and ELO live Tampa in 2019. We were dead center in the 13th row and I swear you couldn’t tell the difference from the studio versions of the songs he played that night. This was the set list: Standin' in the Rain Evil Woman All Over the World Showdown Do Ya When I Was a Boy Livin' Thing Handle With Care Traveling Wilburys (cover with Dhani Harrison) Rockaria! Last Train to London Xanadu 10538 Overture Shine a Little Love Wild West Hero Sweet Talkin' Woman Telephone Line Don't Bring Me Down Turn to Stone Mr. Blue Sky Encore: Rollover Beethoven
I was wondering if you listened to Sweet Talking Woman yet, that was my sister and I's favorite song because she didn't know the words and she'd try to sing the fast part and made me laugh. I'm 63 yrs old and I've seen Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, White Snack, Warrent, Bon Jovi and so many others. I told you about being physically abused as a child and when I was lock in the basement I would memorize every word to songs and sing while I was down there, there wasn't any light down there so music would take me where ever the song took me so I always say music saved my life.
I saw them in concert twice. Late 70's in Kansas City for their "Out of the Blue" tour. Then the mid 80's in Denver for their "Time" concert. Fantastic performances, stage props and lighting display. Some of my fondest memories!
Jeff Lynne is a music genius. He sounds just as good (if not better) live as he did on the studio versions. He was also in the super group 'The Travelling Wilburys' with George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty.
Next from ELO, please react to their 1976 classic, *"Tightrope".* You'll love it, Biz! (Use the studio version, it's from the album, A New World Record--the same album as, "Telephone Line", "Livin' Thing", and, "Do Ya", each of which you've already done.)
I had I think about 4 albums that were absolute go to and it was ELO, Bachman Turner, Steve Winwood, Rolling Stones, Niel Young, Savoy Brown…..,Ya, Baby !!
I enjoyed this. Thanks for the reaction. They sound wonderful live. Would love to have been there! And hey - try not to put off what you want for too long. Go see a show! Live concerts rarely disappoint. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks, Biz! Such a great group - I hope you get around the seeing genius Jeff Lynne with the "Traveling Wilburys" - the ultimate super-group - along with Jeff, there was George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan - and the amazing Roy Orbison - I think you'd love them!
Find the video of "Fire on High" ELO with the dancer with the veils on sticks. Stick with it through the scary backmasking(words played in reverse) intro. Your life won't change or anything but with repeated listening it will become your favorite ELO song. No words really to this but the chorus finally singing "Fire on high". Search "fire on high jaux"
I saw ELO. Funny... got a limo to take my girlfriend. We had an argument. I said f it, and was " partying " in the back of the limo, I'd catch the driver eyeing me in the mirror. I was pissed. Didn't care. Mind ya I was 18 ? Anyway, after jumping in the back, me and the driver saw em. Lol...
That whole concert is amazing. Audience participation is off the chart. My gen made the very best music of all time.
Saw them '81 at Wembley Arena. They played 27 songs. This one of my all time favourites. Majestic.
Saw them live in Chicago in '76 and they were this good! Almost 50 years later & they're still on of my favorite bands. Doesn't get much better than E.L.O.

I scratched the hell out of my sisters album playing this so much. They are still on my concert bucket list if they are even still touring
Yes they are!
They really took it to town! This is such a beautiful song and the set was incredible! It makes me happy to see that you enjoyed it too!
The vocals from Jeff are spot on as usual.
Finally saw Jeff in his Chicago show, July '19. One of the great singer, songwriter, producers of all time! Absolutely love Jeff! Thanks Biz!! 💕

17 years old, riding in the back of George's Thunderbird, summer, creepy scared of this guy much older than me
the minute he spoke when the song started half the world wanted to strangle him. what music person speaks over the start to a song let alone a classic!!! wow!
Great musicians ELO n Jeff's singing strings
I have ELO's first recordings from university up to their last. There transition was incredible.
Also, their light show was unprecedented when they started.
I saw them when I was 12. Back in the 70s.
Jeff Lynne was in his 70s here. The Electric Light Orchestra my lifelong favourites since the mid 70s and still. 🙏❤️👍😊
Jeff is 77 this year same age as me.He still sounds fantastic in his 70s 😊
Still got my original vinyl copy of New World Record. Jeff an absolute living legend.
Ooh the way I jumped on this video when I got the notification, one of my favourite songs😊
Excellent performance!

🔥 I've never stopped going to concerts since I was 17
Finally I suggested this video about a year ago…when you first started liking ELO….
Jeff Lynn was a heluva poet.
This song is from the 1976. Jeff Lynne and ELO still sounds the same today.
Rock on Biz.
Just feelgood, amazing, and wow!!😍

Loved this - thank you.
It's so hard to believe that Jeff is about 70 years old here. Still sounds fantastic, and still a hottie 😍
I'm so glad I went to see them the same year.

extraordinaire ELO, thanks for the moment
Beautiful song with a gorgeous set!! They really went all out. One of a few bands I will always regret not seeing live.
Thank God I was a teenager during the 70s 😉
