I was too young to remember ELO as I was born in 78 but my parents had all of their albums- my Dad’s favourite was Wild West hero and in 1991 we went to Michigan U.S and my Dad had only taken four ELO tapes for 3 weeks in a hire car… Mum and Dad and me 12 and younger brother 10 at the time- by the end of that holiday I could mime every violin or backing vocal and new almost every aspect of their greatest hits… it’s even a standing joke now with my younger brother when an ELO track is played we mime someone playing a violin at the right time or serious face mime a backing vocal to make the other one laugh 🤣
In 2014 I think it was; me and my gf were lucky enough to get 4 tickets for the radio 2 gig in Hyde park and I took my parents who’d seen Queen, Don McLean, Tina Turner and many more but never got to see ELO… it was such an amazing experience and the very first time in about 25 years that ELO had played back home in England 🙏👍

OMG - its difficult not to get tearful, seeing that live performance, and then your personal story on top... ELO was one of the best bands and live acts of the 70s, and they have literally tons of brilliant songs... where to start?! I just pick three.. 'Can't get it out of my head', 'Mr Blue Sky' and 'Roll over Beethoven', and now that you started that rabbit hole with live versions, you might as well continue - any live concerts, maybe try a different one... and be assured: you can't get it wrong! 🌈

The album Time is great. It’s a concept album where a guy is taken from the 80s to the future and tries to get home to see his girl.

Still remember all the words to this song [and others of this time period] and still have the 12" coloured singles too.
A great time to be alive/young! SO much better than today!

ELO have so many hits that you've probably heard, but didn't realise they were all by the same group. Mr Blue Sky, Evil Woman, livin thing, Sweet talking woman, strange magic, do ya, turn to stone, dont bring me down and many more. Also, album tracks, Tightrope and Shangri la, are a must!!!👍

Jeff Lynne, the singer and composer of all of ELOs stuff, was around 67/68 years old here, and he sounds just like he did on the original recording 40 years previously.

ELO is my absolute favourite group to put on when I start my spring clean. I have them on repeat. Jeff Lynne was also a member of the Traveling Wilbury's which was a British-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. He's wrote music for The Beatles. Tom Petty's greatest songs I won't back down and Free Falling were written together with Jeff. I could go on and on but ultimately they were a phenomenal band and one of the members was Roy Wood who went on to form Wizard. One of the biggest reasons these groups are still as popular today as in the past is because they sound the same live as they do on record. There was no auto tune there was no backing tracks you had to play an instrument and back then you could go see a concert for about £20 .

My one and only band that I have followed and loved since I was about 12 years old, now 54. Never was able to see them until Jeff’s return. It was an amazing experience I will never forget. Out of the Blue album is a must listen, the double LP, but many more too. Beautifully written music.

Electric Light Orchestra... The only musical artists that i would pay to see live in concert... I grew up listening to ELO from the early 1970's... And they still put many of the more modern day artists to shame... They can all sing and play live... And have a proven track record of producing incredible music... They were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017... And their music has been sampled many times by various artists... Also their music has appeared in several Hollywood Movies... Although sadly... There are rumors that 2024 will be their final year of touring... But thankfully we'll always have their wonderful music to listen to. 👍

I just saw them a couple of weeks ago here in Denver and they sounded as good as they always have in was an amazing night of music I’m 62 years old and have been to well over a hundred shows and ELO was one of the bands that I had never seen but always wanted to and I thought I had missed my chance years ago and jumped at the chance to see them when I saw that they were doing one more tour. I love your station and your set up I love the way that we can see the band. Very heart touching reaction today. Sending a big hello from Denver Colorado!
