The lady who sang "wah wah", her name is Tuva Semmingson, a classically trained singer in her own right, she sings everything from opera to standards to pop. A diva of the 1st class. If you look closely, for this concert she was wearing little six shooter earrings. PERFECT!!! I watched an interview with the two vocalists.Tuva Semmingsen AKA the Wah Wah Lady, as she has been called by the tube, actually likes being called the Wah Wah Lady. She couldn't believe how this performance took off on the tube. Christine Nonbo Andersen is the solo vocalist in the audience. This was her first performance with the Danish National Orchestra. Both ladies nailed their performances and added a stunning element to this Ennio Morricone masterpiece. Ennio Morricone was a composer of film soundtracks, where he used instruments and objects that are not normally used in an orchestral ensemble. Electric guitars, basses, ocarinas, bongos ... but also whips, gunshots, gusts of wind. Entering Morricone's work is a complete immersion. A moving tribute for fidelity down to the smallest details is what the Spaghetti Western Orchestra did to him. A Japanese conductor conducting a Danish orchestra in a rendition of a song written by an Italian for a film financed by Germans and shot in Spain about the American West

As a saxplayer in a band, which every once in a while performs on a theatre stage, where they like to blind you with their going full throttle white lights, I must say, this "washing out important parts of our music"- effect comes really close to what I feel then. I realize this for the first time, as you mentioned it here, thank you 😊👍! And then - maybe this is another proof of ABBA being masterful on so many levels...

this concert hall they are in was created with the purpose of live broadcasting the music so the recording quality of the music is incredible compared to alot of other videos on youtube

Thanks, Mister - I love ELO - and in this live concert, Jeff's voice is great - but it does eventually use some echo & reverb - although probably not necessary... but for "effect" to match the production - have you heard him with "Traveling Wilburys"? the super-est of super-groups, evah - IMHO -- appreciate your reaction! (p.s. I love your assessment of Jeff's "only flaw"... lol)

A few things no one ever mentions (as an audiophile): 1) "wah-wah" is doubled with a harmonica (with good ears you can barely hear it). 2) the trumpet fanfare a few minutes into the video (the quadruple-tonguing) is so very difficult to play cleanly. As a trumpet player I was never able to achieve this, lol. 3) I thought the soprano's jaws were going to unhinge when she was hitting that high C. What a voice!

A great performance, the only thing different in this performance from how The Ecstasy of Gold is normally performed and how it appears on the film is that the singer is distant instead of on stage, but an interesting change.

Just one thing where you are wrong (but maybe it is me, so no bad feelings hehe :)). The soprano is an opera singer and that is why she doesn't have a microphone on her (you can hear that the instruments are overwelming her voice sometimes), she is singing "a cappella" wich is super hard considering all the brass instruments and choir and drums. I like the ocarina and the "bell sound" instruments by the way and the flute with the little air flow gauge to make exactly the same sound as the movie. And yes the girls singing the "wa wa" has pistol earings on and is supported by a harmonica to give it that effect... nothing electric here appart from the bass guitar and the guitar (of course)

I was there during this recording, it was amazing . Everyone sholud go to a concert with a full symponiorchester .. 😅😅😅

Nice video. One thing i wish you'd mentioned: - the bass line does a lot of work before each chorus begins. After meandering about in the verse it will drop down and strike a low, open string before going a little wild, and only then will in settle into the rhythmic chorus line. I think that those open strings pack a powerful punch.

I enjoyed this. This was done well before the show opened in London, and smartly released by ALW in an attempt create a buzz for the show. I have to admit that Steve Barton really nailed it with the duet in the London production. Beautiful song.
