      @RealFelixMendelssohn Год назад +7

      Nah, I think Thielemann's second movement is better because:
      1. The first climax is much too extreme in this version, and it takes away from the big climax
      2. The second climax in Thielemann's version is much more "unrelenting" in a way, that just overpowers you, where this one is broken up by the brass, and it loses some of its "relentlessness" in a way
      3. In the midsection, where it is kind of a fuge, the melody is initially buried a bit too much in the accompanying violin arpeggios
      In the end, it's up to you which one you like better, but that is my 2 cents.

    • @katrinat.3032
      @katrinat.3032 10 месяцев назад +3

      I like your 2 cents because I’m going to try to find that performance. Up until now I’ve loved the Solti performance he did, I believe it was with VPO in Japan. It’s on RUclips, that has a fantastic second movement. I’m still evaluating this one.

      @@RealFelixMendelssohn I can't handle the low fidelity of the audio in Thielemann's version (at least the ones I see on YT)
      My dad was a huge HIFI nerd back when that meant a GIGANTIC and super heavy audio processing box with fancy gold connections, and the speakers all spaced properly from the listening couch, etc, etc.
      Now we're blessed to have preposterously good quality on headphones that are very affordable if you know where and when, and youtube... what a blessing we take for granted that any time I want I can find just about any possible song - probably many versions - as well as all sorts of cool documentaries, news, science, etc.
      Anyway, once I got proper-ish headphones I find I really can't listen to low audio quality works if I can help it, and these by Orosco-Estrada are fantastic.
      I think the only one I would put up for comparison is Klaus Maekela and the Oslo Symphony doing the 9th (perhaps they do others, but this one i found), and I am sofa king jealous - he's in his early 20's, conducting the best music ever written in front of a masterful orchestra for great money... Mad jealous!!!!
      Anyway, check out the 9th by oslo and klaus, promise you enjoy it
      ruclips.net/video/QkQapdgAa7o/видео.html
      P.S. Anything by "voices of music" is just perfection, and anything with the heart stopper Alana Youseffian trebly so...
      ruclips.net/video/aryDMAP6oug/видео.html
      Trust me, you'll be thankful.

      They do all the beethoven symphonies at least as well - i'd say better - than anyone else i've ever seen or heard. I think that Klaus and the Oslo symphony do a 9th just as well, but it's like trying to choose between two flawless masterpiece performances...
      Here's a gift to you! Go watch "Voices of Music" doing "Vivaldi's Four Seasons" with "Alana Youseffian". It's similarly flawless to this performance, and her playing makes my heart start to explode.

    The second movement became the funeral music of the 56 Hungarian Revolution! The story is: there was nobody in the ordinary offices of the Radio Kossuth (Hungarian State Radio) because the studios were in ruins, so the technicians who worked at the broadcasting tower far away from Budapest, try to play something to sign the public, that the station exists. But they find only one piece of plastic record and this was the second movement of Vii. Symphony. As far as I know, they had been playing it all day long.

    • @teejayaich4306

    If you listen carefully (using headphones maybe) you will notice the sound from the first and second violins come from each one of the channels, which probably means mastro Estrada-Orozco arrenges the orchestra with these two sections on opposite sides of him just like in Beethoven's time. This and the natural horns and trumpets I suppose wants to give the performance an authenticity touch. A very beautiful thing!

    Wonderful performance. Many congratulations to the leader, principles, musicians & the maestro. Bravo, one and all.
    A little historical context.
    When this was first performed in Vienna, the city had been set free from the French occupation. So this was Vienna saying 'We're back, and look who we have in our corner'. This makes the second movement even more moving. As it is a 'Lament, to all the citizens who never made through that period. One of which was F.J. Haydn in 1809.
    The third & fourth movement is just the Master Beethoven saying 'Did you miss me!. Guess what, l am back!'.
    Once again, bravo one and all.

    It never ceases to amaze me how people can sit in such an amazing hall, listening to such an amazing piece, played by such an amazing orchestra, with such an amazing conductor and just..... sit still.
    It's far and away the worst part of being in the audience in a symphony concert. Obviously, making noises, unlike at a pop or rock or rap concert disturbs other people's ability to enjoy the masterpiece (and often in quiet sections, to hear it at all) but how can you POSSIBLY sit still in the exposition of the first movement? It's so joyous! It's so full of happiness and love and goodness. HOW can you think that sitting stock-still, old people falling asleep, A PROHIBITION ON CLAPPING BETWEEN MOVEMENTS, and old people generally just being ultra-shitty to anyone who doesn't follow their strict interpretation of what THEY THINK the rules are for watching an orchestra concert- as if everyone didn't fucking PAY to get in?? It's just. This sort of way of enjoying the symphony is a relic of the monarchies of Europe. Children are to be seen and not heard. Symphony audiences are not to be seen, heard, or even allowed to breathe slightly too loudly or cough. It's just sad. Why do you think at the end of practically every professional symphony concert, the crowd stands up and applauds for so long that the Orchestra ends up having to pay Overtime, because the service goes past the 2.5 hour mark because of the applause? Because during the concert, they're fucking BORED. They literally fall asleep and start snoring. I've seen that happen at LEAST half a dozen times.
    The fact that if I even nod slightly to the beat, some old bastard goes "iF yOu eVeR gO tO aNoThEr cOnCeRt YoU sHoUlD lEaRn nOt tO bE sO fUcKiNg rUdE" like FUCK YOU OLD MAN I'VE LITERALLY PLAYED DOZENS OF CONCERTS WITH THIS EXACT ORCHESTRA. I'VE BEEN GOING TO SYMPHONY CONCERTS SINCE BEFORE I COULD WALK. MAYBE IT'S **YOUR** ATTITUDE THAT NEEDS AN "ADJUSTMENT", SINCE IT'S PEOPLE LIKE ***YOU*** THAT ARE THE ***EXACT, SPECIFIC, AND ONLY*** REASON YOUNG PEOPLE DON'T LIKE GOING TO CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERTS. BECAUSE THE OLD FUCKS IN THE AUDIENCE ARE SO GOD-DAMNED RUDE TO YOUNG PEOPLE AS A MATTER OF COURSE THAT THEY FEEL UNWELCOME. AS IF IT'S NOT BAD ENOUGH THAT KIDS HAVE TO SIT STILL IN SCHOOL, DO HOURS OF HOMEWORK EVERY NIGHT, NO CHILDHOOD, NO PLAYTIME- THEY GO TO A SYMPHONY CONCERT AND ARE REALLY FEELING IT, SO THEY MOVE- AND YOU THINK THAT'S RUDE? NO, MY "FRIEND". LOOK AT ME. LOOK. AT. ME. ***YOU*** ARE THE ASSHOLE NOW.

    La séptima sinfonía del gran maestro de Bonn ha sido mi favorita desde hace muchos años y en verdad resulta muy gratificante el hallazgo de esta magnífica versión dirigida por el maestro Orozco-Estrada. I came across this conductor a few days ago. Humble guy; at the end, he emphasizes the importance of the orchestra. I am not an expert on classical music, though I like it, and from my point of view this is quite a good performance. I am a software engineer, and I develop algorithms, some of them really complex, and when I am driving mad, hitting my head against the wall, thinking "this should work, why it doesn't?" I listen to Bach, Beethoven, Genesis of Pink Floyd. Particularly, the allegretto of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony clears my mind and calms me down.
