Sophia, even if it did not work out the way you planned, it was not a fail or a waste of time. I am sure I am not alone in saying we all learn from you. Like I have said before, you never fail to impress! Great video!

I would definitely not call this a fail. It's more of a snag. A pause.
You're going to get there. 👍👍👍

When I bought my house in Ireland 10 years ago, every door and door handle was different. Each door had a different colour or style, and each door had a different hand on each side. It was crazy. I have no doubt you will get this sorted. You are amazing.

Hey, Sophia! You never waste my time. Watching your videos is NEVER a waste of my time. This was a valuable learning experience. Thank you for this post.

Thank you for the history behind the glass knobs.
I have, way in the past, owned two houses with glass knobs. They were both built in the 1920s. One was glass on both sides, the other was glass and porcelain.
The house we live in now was built in the 1940s, added onto in the 1970s, and "updated" in the 1980s. It's odd, quirky, mishmashed, and totally "us."😂

Personally I don't see it as a fail. It's still a great lesson for your son, and other. It's not a waist of time. We learned that the modern doors have different size wholes in them and that the plates are different sizes.

You probably know this already but maybe for your followers. It came to my mind when you mentioned Home Depot, that veterans & their spouses can get a 10% discount.

If they do not work out make a coat rack with them or try to use them in another way they are so beautiful. You get a A plus for effort 💯

When Aunt Clara was on the TV show "Bewitched" she always had her door knob collection in a big satchel..
.I always wished they'd do a show where she showed them all...there were some quick glimpses of some pretty nice knobs.

White knobs inside the rooms in my opinion would look nicer. You will find the plates. If you don't end up using them you can sell them, nice and clean someone will buy them.

I’m sure someone has said this but have you tried cleaning and using the existing round plates with your vintage knobs? Or you can glue wood pieces inside the hole, top and bottom, to give you something to screw into. Once filled, sanded and painted you’d never know.

I think square or oval would look much better. Thanks for the lesson anyway.

We were very fortunate in that our 100 y/o English Tudor home came with brass floral, etched latch sets/knobs in the entryway and living spaces. Upstairs knobs were glass and porcelain
I can appreciate your desire to do this task. 👍🏼

I hope you are able to fit the glass door handles eventually, as now you have cleaned them, they look really nice. Good luck with the new plates you ordered. Also, personally I think the round plates will give off more simple elegance and suit the knobs more than the square one’s you were talking about.

It's not a fail! It is a project in process and a learning experience! These things happen to me all the time! It is really annoying to say the least. I have faith in you and you will figure it out. I get very persistent when these things happen and usually find a way! See you next time...this makes for good content in your video! Suspense!

Wow those knobs sell for lots of money in antique stores. My husband has used those on different doors and he says the mechanism is totally different and will not work. We have bought the new ones at Home Depot but they are cheap looking glass compared to the old glass and the mechanism in the new ones have lasted only a couple of years. I use the old glass as a paper weight or just to set on top of books. They sell for 25 dollars a set in antique shops around here.

Too bad....but no fail. It's hard changing out the newer things to the vintage ones. I have one glass knob ---don't know where it is since he passed but I too wanted to change my doorknobs out to match too. Check you later!

I have a big project I am going to tackle. I live in a double-wide mobile home. The trim on the ceiling that covers the joint where the two sections meet. It is falling down. The heat is coming in so bad. The A/C can't keep it cool enough. Wish me luck.
