Hope you are using the military discount at Home Depot and Lowe's. Scott definitely qualifies.
My favourite thing is when you say “it’s not goin anywhere!” 😁
If you use only one door for your closet, you could hang a shoe bag or rack on the back of the door. That way you may be able to fit your shoes in the closet. Also, if you hang your pants on the top pole, you may be able to fit some items on the middle shelf.
I’ve been sorry for your green carpet for years. So excited to see your improvements to the bedroom. Just remember dark solid carpet will show lint horribly in my experience. You’re doing a great job. Love the reading nook idea.
Scott is ex military ~ get the discount! 💖✨
You should treat yourself to all new slim line, matching hangers. They will help with space and hanging length and look great.
Getting there. Buying the slim hangers is a great idea Don’t buy too many things before you get to try out the closet so you don’t have to return items.
I love this project. Your doing such a great job, I’m so impressed. The ring light really makes a difference.
Sophia, if you trade out the top shelf with the shelf you did not put up, it has the same front slot where you will be able to slide the clothes a little like the middle shelf you installed. This will allow you to reach your cubbies better!
Plus ,hanging individual hangers in each slot will get old quickly. Yes trade the shelves, put up the new one.
Anytime you need to get into the attic you have to remove all the stuff and the shelves to get the cubby out.
I hope you dont need to go in there too often. What a pain that would be !
Try hanging your longest shirts to the far right and the shorter ones on the left. Maybe that will work
You’re amazing you’re not afraid of trying anything new and you are an inspiration to all women
The top notch on the shelf is meant to hang on a mounted rail. Makes it easy to line up each hanger.
Definitely get rid of the plastic hangers and get matching felt covered thin hangers. They work great. The closet looks fantastic.
Not a personal fan of thin velvet hangers; they break constantly. No more for us….
I agree, and they are not as low hanging as the plastic ones, clothes clearly hang like 2 inches higher than on plastic ones
I was born and raised in Appalachian. My dad built our house with rough lumber. He wasn't a builder but we got a lot of use out of that old house. As the family grew, he added on.
Your closet is turning out so nicely!!! Will you have to remove the wire shelf to get in the attic? Minor hassle to have closet space. Wooooohoooooo!!!
Sophia, Before you try to put on the drywall, I really think you need to remove the metal bar that is on the outside of the wood frame, left of the closet doorway. It will probably be in the way of the drywall laying flat against that framework. You are doing a great job of figuring this all out!! Love the cubby shelf unit!
Sophia, Great job! At first I was going to suggest for your shoes one of those "shoe cabinets" from Ikea for the balcony wall. They look like a piece of furniture and the doors tip out and they are shallow but then you said you were moving your bike to that wall so not sure of the depth of area there, some of the cabinets are approx 6 1/2 inches deep. I then had the idea of an over the door cloth shoe hanger simply "nailed" to the inside of your closet, the wall to the left of the door frame perpendicular to the cubbie you built. I think it could be cut narrower to fit that wall..... just throwing ideas out to explore different possibilities as you go along. I am really enjoying seeing the progress and I am pretty excited to see the finished room!
I love watching you transform this room. You are doing a great job.
Are you not using a top rail? The standards hook onto the top rail. You can still anchor the standards in for extra support
The light is lovely. You have amazing skin
Love the series! Be careful with your good bags...the shelving will leave indents in the leather etc. You may want to look into the plastic mat/sheathing that you can line them with.
Great job Sophia! It’s starting to shape up. The vision is coming alive. I hope the cubby works out ( practically speaking). I do remember years ago when you had a shelf in the far corner of the current closet and you didn’t hardly access it. ( that was old cluttered Sophia, but no more!) Being this is Sophia’s “HER” closet you will probably access that cubby better than the previous shelf. I am wondering about your jewelry cabinet, will it fit in the closet wall as you enter the bathroom? I loved hearing about all the coming projects after your closet is done. Oh! The shelving system is what I used for shoes in my tiny closet. We have a bar and a small slant shelf for shoes. I also use the pants hangers. They’re so handy! Some people don’t like them, because of the maintenance it takes to hang the pants. But I love them! Go get pink slim hangers too! 👏🏻👏🏻
I amazed at how quickly you have been able to achieve this. You are way ahead of schedule. I was also really impressed with the wallpaper you hung being level too. I enjoy when you chat through the possibilities. The vent at the top of the roof is called a ridge vent in Canada. Not sure if US has another term to use. I look forward to every video you post. You have mastered a variety of skills. @homedepot you need to sponsor Sophia because she speaks so highly of your store and I agree it is so easy to shop there. I love walking through all the model kitchens and bathrooms they have set up in my homedepot. Oh a helpful tip for finding a stud since you took off the baseboard is looking below the drywall or home depot should send you a studfinder and a laser level 😉
Looks great! If you skip the bi-fold doors and do a regular door you could get one of those shoe storage hanging organizers and put it on the back (inside) of the door.
You should be very proud of yourself! I have a similar setup and I store folded leggings and jeans on the second shelf, under the hanging blouses, no problem. Bravo!
Loving your bedroom makeover series. You are doing a great job. My house was built in 1942 and my closets are small so to me your closet is a nice size.
This closet is so nice! I am so happy for you! I remember you planning to build a closet for years. You’re doing a great job!
It's looking fantastic!! We can do anything we set our minds to! It's that simple. If you think you can't, you're right. If you think you can, you're right. ;)
sophia, you’re an inspiration. do not let negative comments hold you back. you’re an amazing person.
I got so excited when I saw there was a new video!! I’m so excited for you for making your vision a reality! Girl power!! Lol
Dark blue carpet would tie your theme in nicely Sofia.....😘
Are you not putting drywall on the inside of closet? I have a high and low clothes rack, it works well. I don’t need one for dresses as I don’t wear them. 🤪
We live in a older mobile home, so closet and storage space is at a minimum. Loving your closet. Cannot wait to see your completed room.
The closet organization is looking good.
Woo-hoo! It is really coming together! We're cheering your progress!
That ring light sure made a big difference. You are doing great.
You’re doing such a great job! 👏🏻☺️
Amazing job well done all done by your own hand xx
So exciting!!!🥰🥰 You are right, there are sooo many storage options for closets.
An idea for shoes or off season shoes are roll-under bed shoe organizers. Amazing space that often we forget we have.💕👍
Great work- see you next time!👍👍
Coming along. Big improvement over what you had.
Keep up the good work! I am so inspired to work on one of the closets in our house. Take care, hugs.
Love your chit chats ! 💕
I'm loving this series! As a DIYer myself, I appreciate what you are doing. It's fabulous!
Yay! It’s coming together now!
Woo! You got this! Such a smart use of soace
You are so inspiring! The closet is coming along nicely! Would you consider opening it up more, removing part of that front little wall, and making most of the front an opening? You can access the cubbies better.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't really understand how she will get easy access to the cubbies ( or the attic) with that wall there .
Hi, darlin,,,,I'm not sure if I'm the only one to say this, ,,,but if you DON'T drywall the inside of the closet, the horizontal studs will give you free shelving,,,,just paint the studs, and they are wide enough to screw cuphooks into, or use them to store extra toiletries, hair products, etc,,,,,In my craft room, I used pretty tacks to string elastic from side to side to hold interfacing, wrappings, bags,,,it sure is a waste of space to close that up!
Wonderful closet space you designed. You have learned so much on your own it's amazing. Good going girl!!!!
Good afternoon Sofia, mijn grootvader was meubelmaker stoffeerder van meubels.
Blessed be stay safe and healthy witch 🧙♀️ bonnie from Belgium 🇧🇪
You’re doing a great job 👌 You should treat yourself to hangers that are all the same and work well on the shelf edges. Those big plastic ones look awkward to use in there. 👏💕 Lol I spoke too soon! Pink hangers, great idea 💡
It's looking fabulous Sophia! Like you, we tackle most of the projects around the house and only bring in workmen for serious things like a new bathroom, kitchen etc. Again, well done on the closet so far 👍
Youngstown Ohio we got 15 inches of Snow Sunday and Monday .... Tuesday a few flakes . Today 19 January 2022 ...Wednesday . Awesome work ...
You could snip and shorten the lower shelf and then get a hanging shoe holder that way you can easily move the shoes when needed. Yes, a bit behind in the series so you may have already done this...I'll find out when I catch up lol.
I've got a walk in closet and it's basically a shelf with a rod that goes the length and then on the end wall I stack the extra bedding. It's nice when it comes to putting stuff in hiding at Christmas but honestly, you're not missing out! It's another space to put "stuff" that I don't really even need or use and therefore another space that I need to declutter, dust, vacuum etc. The only nice thing is that I can walk in and see all my clothes instead of having walls hiding the ends, but it looks like you'll likely have that ability as well, maybe not a walk in, but a step in? Less is definitely more! I have carpet and I bet you the closet has only been thoroughly vacuumed (every inch) once or twice in the last few years! As your kids get older, if you really want a dressing room and the big walk in closet, you could always renovate one of their rooms if they're not using it. At this phase and with how you're trying to only have what you need, I think this closet is perfect for you! I do suggest getting some plastic dollar store place mats for over the shelves where you'll be placing anything leather, or you will permanently get lines in your bags, or use a basket for them. I personally have a wooden coat hanger on the wall that I hang my bags from but I'm sure that's not ideal for the handles. Love this makeover Sophia! Can't wait to see the entire room finally done! 💜
Very proud of you and your closet ...
You are doing a great job!
Im enjoying your productive endeavor. I have enjoyed your chanel for years. I realized that I haven't seen anything of your kitty Fiona. Did i miss something.
Sophia, you are doing a wonderful job and it will look great when it is all finished.
I received your card the other day and we ( Melanie and I) want to thank you for taking the time to write a card back. It means a lot to us.
We have a washing machine thing with holes (sorry can't think of it's name) that my son welded legs on so we could use it for a fire pit. His first project so it isn't perfect but he did it. He passed away 3 weeks ago 1 day after his 22cd bday ftom deep brain aneurysm so now it is even more special.
Oh Christine I am so sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss.x❤
Christine, I'm so very sorry to hear about your son. I know how special the fire pit he created is and will always be to you. I've lost a son too, six years ago, he was 31. I hope that I don't offend you when I say that I'll have you in my prayers. I know that everyone handles situations differently, but I remember how I felt when it was so fresh. Virtual hugs to you.
@@dianetaylor1699 thank you. I'm not offended at all. That firepit is the best fire pit ever now. Lol.
An idea that comes to me is to set your smaller purses inside the larger ones. This would leave adjacent space on the shelf for a hat or small hat box? If you have hats, that is! An enjoyable project to watch; thanks for bringing us along!
Don’t you think if you put a shelf that close to the floor it will be hard to clean underneath ?
I also use the 4-Tier Non-Slip Pants Organizer Metal Hanger for my pants and shirts. I love them and they save so much space. I use the ones that lift up and the bar sways out. I love what you are doing and love watching you.
I love this project I cannot wait to see how this turns out. I am so impressed with this series if i could like it 100x i would.
I noticed the spare/3rd shelf has the big opening at the front could you swap the top shelf for that one? So the hangers could move more easily, it’s a fab job you won’t know yourself when it’s all done 🥰
Great job Sophia! But why get rid of the dresser? I personally would keep it for underwear, socks, big sweaters, swimsuits. I feel like your bedroom is roomy enough for a small dresser/ chest of drawer. I’m afraid if you get rid of the dresser your closet will be too crammed.
I also think those cubbies are going to be annoying to get into and out of sight out of mind . Maybe good for storage but for every day items, I don't know .
Sophia,
I'm so excited for you! The closet is coming out great! I can't wait to see the finished project.
You are sooo inspiring!
You go girl!
I love your adventurous spirit. You are doing fantastic. Thx for taking us along.
You should get the screw driver that is like a drill and it doesn't plug in. My husband has one and it is very useful!
That wire shelf has a clothes rod and brackets to hang clothes. You aren’t supposed to hang things on the actual wire shelving. Still impressed with your resourcefulness!
Fantastic Sophia. The ring light looks good. Your project is awesome. I'm loving it. Thankyou so much for sharing. "WHERE THERE IS FEAR THERE IS NO CREATIVITY ".
I love all your ideas for the bedroom EXCEPT painting the velvet. Try it out on a large swatch first. You are inspiring!!!
If you wanted to add space for dresses you could cut back one side of the waist high shelf to the bracket and hang them from the top. My husband is a retired builder. He once built a closet with the same shelves for an older man. He called to complain that there was nowhere to hang his clothes. We explained how to hang them on the horizontal edges but he still wasn't happy. Some people can't handle change.
Looking good!!!!
You are doing such a great job. I'm excited with you. You HAVE A CLOSET! :)
My husband does nearly every building project in our home. I tend to stick to painting & decorating .
We have three adult sons so they help him and our daughter Miss 16yrs helps me.
I'm usually crafting in my craftroom.
So proud of you Sofia. Such a wonderful accomplishment 😍
Tfs & take care 👏🌺🫂🇦🇺
Your closet is coming together so fast. You're doing a fantastic job Sophia!
I think maybe a light carpet as a dark one would show every scrap! Though since there is so much dust produced in bedrooms hardwood would certainly be more hygienic.
I agree with lighter, maybe light blue/gray tweed. I have carpet like that in a spare bedroom and really like it. It is flexible with several different bedspread colors.
Your doing great. Can't wait to see the next video. Sounds like you're room will beautiful
Great work love your closet! I am happy the makeover will be long more videos too watch!
Yay! You did it! So proud of you!
You go girl 👏.
How are you going to get the shelf cubby out if you need to get in the little atic?
The shelves can be easily removed the brackets are not anchored.
I didn't see if anyone commented this already but those rod brackets I believe the rod goes on the little U at the end not down in the crook. It might make the clothes stick out forward a bit but they should end up at about the same height. It just seems like it'd be easier to be able to slide the clothes out of the way if needed.
You must be so proud of yourself and justifiably so! Well done.
Yes 👍🏻, Both have Military discounts. We use them a lot.
Fabulous! You may even have inspired me to give it a go ………maybe 😂
So happy for you to have a new closet, you have every right to feel proud xx
YAY!!! Love your tips and tricks! I just don't think I can say enough how much I love your videos! Pink hangers 💖. My guys hate my slim non-slip hangers, they like to grab and jerk clothes off them, so they get the plastic ones. We have very small closets . We hang pants and jeans too I use the small kids size hangers for those works great for us.
It's coming along nicely. Thank you for the idea on the drywall anchors. I need these in my bathroom for my towel rack.
I just binge watched some of your latest closet videos to get caught up - and WOW so impressed! It's coming together so wonderfully. So excited WITH you! Watching for the next one 🙂
Love it Sophia! Bravo! 👏🏻 I am so proud of you and so happy for you building your lovely wardrobe 💐
So wonderful, Sophia! Just lovely! ❤
Hi Sophia, the closet is looking so good. Great Job! I can't wait to see the next video.
Yes! using smaller peace's works and then you can do taping and mudding and sand it smooth.
you are a master at this!!!! thank you for being a great teacher!!!
Are you considering LVP flooring? We did it throughout our whole house and we did it ourselves, it's not hard to work with and it's so pretty and easy to clean!
Great job. Now I will go and paint my bathroom and decide on wallpaper. You are an inspiration. Love from Denmark.
You're doing a wonderful job! I look forward each day to see what you do next. I have one question. I don't know how often you need to but, you mentioned earlier on about being able to get into the attic. If you need to, how will you get in? Will you have to take all the clothes out and take down the shelves so you can move the cubby shelf out of the way? Not an impossible task but tedious. Or is it not a concern since you rarely go in there?
Roof opening- ridge vent.
You are doing so well, it's looking lovely. Xx
