The best sports owners are the ones you don’t hear about. The ones that have professionals running their teams and stay in the background. I have no idea who owns the Spurs but they have 5 rings because they let Pop handle the team. You only hear about Robert Kraft when he gets happy endings at massage parlors but he has 6 rings because he let Bill run the Pats. The more owners get involved in running a team the worse a team does generally
Back in the day, nobody knew that Clint Murchison owned the Dallas Cowboys because he sat back and let the triumvirate of Tex Schramm, Tom Landry and Gil Brandt run the team and sat back while the Cowboys were contenders for the better part of 2 decades.
Tepper is his own worst enemy. He's a brilliant hedge fund manager but that doesn't translate to brilliance as an NFL-owner. I doubt any good coaches will want to go to Carolina and and it's not a star free agent landing spot.

I think it is a disaster for these hedge fund sociopaths to buy your team. They didn't build anything to make their money, just moved debt and cash around to to take advantage of evonomic conditions. They are obviously smart, but work virtually alone to achieve success. Buiding a football franchise, on the other hand, is a delicate balletnof GM and coach and scouts and accountants working together to build a winning franchise. Big ego owners inevitably screw up the team building process with their impatience and extravagance.
It’s rich guy hubris. They make billions in one industry and thinks that makes them qualified to run a sports team, go into politics, or buy a social media platform. Usually it goes badly.
Hedge Funders do not create wealth or value, they just leach profits off the disadvantages of others. They are not like business owners. They just siphon value because your situation got worse for whatever reason. They are at best Opportunists.
A banker who started in the 70’s talked about how he used to work the weekends as a train engineer. Home in Scarsdale and private school for the kids is expensive. By the 90’s and early aughts bankers were making real money. He didn’t become any smarter or worked any harder but at the end he was getting a $10m bonus. It’s hard to not think you’re special and you deserve all that money. Money changes everything. It warps the mind.

I suspected that Tepper bought the Carolina Panthers with the intent to move them to a big market City, likely in the NE... But he hasn't, at least not yet. He is not a southerner, is alien to southern culture, and likely detests the Carolinas and his teams followers. Expect the Carolina Panthers to become "Pepper's Yankees," New York's/ New Jersey 's third NFL team.

As much as the team is in shambles, I appreciate tepper. He’s brought revenue and opportunities to Charlotte. My nephew plays for Charlotte FC’s junior team. He’s being exposed to so much at a young age. He played in the MLS next fest where there were over 300 college scouts. That’s better than any HS soccer event. I believe Tepper will get it right in terms of football. It will just take time. At the end of the day, the players are getting paid and are all millionaires. Coaches are paid. Everyone is eating. In the grand scheme of things, that’s all that matters.
I've become a huge Charlotte FC fan, and I guess at this point will remain so for the rest of my life. Still. The team would be so much better without Tepper involved, constantly meddling and firing coaches just like he does with the panthers. Tepper needs to go.

This is your typical hack-job that happens when team' fortunes don't improve under a new owner. The Panthers were a team in serious decline and needed a complete rebuild. Unfortunately, it hasn't gone well as long-time GM Marty Hurney failed to secure a replacement for Newton and otherwise acquire sufficient talent to keep the Panthers in contention. As soon as the Panthers start winning, it'll be the Eddie DeBartolo (and every other despised owner who went from rags to riches) story all over again. Eddie sucked, then Walsh built a dynasty, and suddenly fans loved Eddie even though in reality he was a crap owner.

Tepper did nothing wrong. Just haters going to hate. Raiders owner firing coaches over and over. Broncos fired coach during season. Colts did last year. Chargers with 2 coaches in last few years and so on, but Tepper is the only one people are hating on. GM hasn’t helped Rhule or Reich, but Reich was just a bad hire. Never hire someone that just got fired for sucking and expect them to be great. He needed to go. Reset had to happen.
The NFL is rigged, from the get-go. The NFL cannot afford to lose a billionaire of his caliber. They don't grow on trees. The NFL will get their Sh,,it together on this one. The Panthers will not only make the playoffs, at the expense of the other 31 teams, but win the super bowl. that is my prediction. The NFL knows how to work magic on this one. Whenever a market or owner is in such a market as Carolina, and its fnas are upset, That is something the NFL doesn't want to lose sleep about. Carolina will have a better record next year, guaranteed.
