Petition wants David Tepper to sell Panthers: WCNC Charlotte To Go

- Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at a Jaguars fan during last week's loss to Jacksonville. Now, thousands of Panthers fans are calling for the NFL push Tepper out as the team's owner.
On this edition of WCNC Charlotte To Go, we're taking a look at the NFL bylaws and whether Tepper could be forced to sell the Panthers for his outburst. Tepper issued a brief statement saying he regrets his behavior and should've let NFL stadium security handle the situation. As a result, he accepted the NFL's punishment.
However, for Tepper to be forced out, it would require a vote from three-fourtsh of NFL owners. Without that consensus, the league will not take action as far as making him sell the team.

We're TOTALLLY mad about him throwing the drink. We're sick of this childish behavior. He's an embarrassment to the Panthers, the Carolinas, the NFL AND New Jersey. It takes a LOT to be an embarrassment to New Jersey. Our team is terrible because our owner and his wife run the team, not the employees he hires to do the actual jobs.
I don’t understand how Tyreek Hill grabs the phone of a NFL reporter and does a backflip. Hill he gets a fine, the NFL reporter gets fired and possibly banned for life from working for the NFL, and yet here is Tepper throwing a drink on someone and gets a little fine. $300k? And no assault charge? Lol 😂
If we want to get rid of Tepper, we need to boycott BoA Stadium.

3/4 vote of the Owners can require an owner to sell his team. It is what was done to Daniel Snyder.

His behavior is a complete embarrassment and reflects poorly on the fans of the team. The fact is that if a fan had done what tepper did we would be banned for life! Instead tepper gets a fine that’s equivalent to the price of a coke for us poor basement dwelling fans!
The nfl should make TEPPER announce the overall first pick that he gave to the bears as part of his punishment!

As a Panthers fan, who lives out of their market, this is so embarrassing. He never apologized. His constant meddling, hiring & firing of employees, his math test to draft qbs. If he's at the stadium, the fans should unleash their venom or boycott, and NOT go to the game at all. Tickets are $17. I know it's a long process, but gotta get this a- hole out for someone who's more competent. There are people out there to buy the team.
I'm all for the petition - if nothing else to unite the Panthers' fan base. There's such a thing as having an informed opinion in how the front office runs this business. In that vein, I liked superfan, "Big Friendly Panther/Jeremy Parrinello's take (News & Obs, Jan 3rd) that: ... “I’m not a fan of Tepper. I feel like he’s in it for the money aspect of owning a team and not building a winning culture. That’s the hard part. It seems like every year we’re starting a new four-year program...I get a real Jerry Jones feeling from Tepper and that’s not how we want our owners. We want a (Jerry) Richardson style. More a man of the people and let the coaches and scouts do their job". So, ya - sign the petition and all get on the same page about building a winning culture. And hats off to Parrinello - his comments in the N&O piece make him a fine mentor for me as a new state resident and new Panthers fan. Thanks!

The other owners will never remove him for stuff like this because they love having a cupcake on their schedule. It's a "get right game" or a "Brink's game" because the opposing players get the stats that will get them paid.

He came in and immediately began Holding the Carolina Panthers hostage by forcing his team to draft (potentially) the wrong QB. Pissing off nearly everyone he comes in contact with. Firing coaches left and right on both his NFL and MLS teams. Incredibly impulsive and temperamental. Becoming the new-age Dan Snyder.

Lol... y'all can't be serious... the big homie Jake is number 2 at best for our franchise... there's another Qb with back to back division titles (which had never happened in the NFC South, until he did it), he was also league MVP, and went to a super bowl just like Jake did... and let's not forget Jake's top receivers were Smith and Muhammad... while that other guy had Jericho cotchery and Ted Ginn Jr... and Olsen (a tight end) was more reliable than either of those receivers and they managed to finish 15-1... there's no way Jake does that with that roster
Jake was not the best qb of all time. Cam Newton was definitely our best quarterback of all time. We went 15 and 1….. how can you argue with that?

Tepper is a horrible team exec. As a Redskins fan, Snyder was 100x worse. But no way Tepper will sell that team. He's making way too much money to sell. The NFL is a cartel and they protect their own. They only forced Snyder out after Snyder stole money from the NFL.

Terrible performance is the least of why people want him gone. The debacle in York County, leaving Wofford, his interviews where he wont answer questions and diverts to concerts, worst record in all sports since 2019, and then this. This guy acts like he's the reason concerts are here in Charlotte, like there isn't a PNC music pavilion, bojangles coliseum, or Spectrum Center here.
He's just another yankee transplant that comes down and treats everyone terribly since they have a lot of money. I know current and former employees of this guy and none are fans. He will make Jerry Richardson look like a saint once it's all out, and Jerry was made to sell the team over inflammatory comments.
