watching and listening to this, it’s sad to know that this kind of stage presence and raw unfiltered musical performance no longer exists in the world. don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of great and extremely talented artists out there, but no one shows up like this on stage anymore. it’s this special kind of magic of its time. what an important time in music history. grateful to at least be able to watch this sort of footage 🧡 it keeps the magic alive.
Agree. Like to compare it with artist like Picasso, Jackson Pollock ... these people opened doors and it seems that no more closed doors are left. We are fortunate to have lived thru this rather unique time period and looking around I feel sad because (most of) contemporary artist give me the feeling of commerce.
I'm a programmer and I spend a few nights working. When my brain is tired and asking for rest, I come here and I hear Zeppelin live, so my brain "wakes up" and I'm back to being productive. It's better than coffee.
You are so right. Imagine just one of them not playing in the band it would be a totally different vibe. The four of them together made Led Zepplin what they were. (Rusty)
Did this people realize that they were truly in the presence of greatness? Oh, to say that they saw Zeppelin in person.. I was honored to see Robert in person on Saturday and was still blown away. Not sure what I would have done if I could have seen the greatest to ever do it like these folks did.
3:15 The (meaningful) sloppiness in his playing adds so much character as if he were truly speaking his mind through his guitar. No matter how much I try playing with the same feel, it’s too hard to even imitate his playing. Perfection 👌
About 11 years ago, I had my niece's kids in my car. I put on Black Dog and Rock N Roll, with ghe windows up and the CD player cranked. They sat in silence, just 3 little kids - ages 9, 11 and 14 - completely stunned, in awe, never to be the same again. It's great to be an aunt.
Perfect union …etc, can equally be said about: The Who; Emerson, Lake & Palmer; YES; The Jimi Hendrix Experience; The Grateful Dead; The Allman Brothers Band, & others.
Each group has it’s own unique “personality”, each one had fantastic musicianship, & created great music. Zeppelin, great musicians they were, also were the best cover band in history, given all the plagiarism thru their 1st 4 albums. Saw em live at MSG in NYC 1977, great concert, one of the best shows I ever saw.
Every time I listen to Zeppelin I come closer to appreciating that nothing rocks harder than them. Nobody can ever truly appreciate how hard they rock. We can only approach appreciation.
Greatest riff is a good argument but even for how mainstream and overplayed it is, ‘Stairway to Heaven’ is easily still the consensus #1 song of all time
Jewel live performance sounds better than her album, but she is only with her guitar (not a band). Kelly Clarkson live performance also sounds better than her album
John Bonham plays that drum kit, it's impressive, there has never been one like it. Jimmy Page's guitar, the voice of Robert plant and John Paul Jones, uff men, are without a doubt the best rock band in history.
Boys & girls this is Rock and Roll. John is tearing those drums up! They were so darn good. And tight. Do you all ever wonder how they sold so many albums??? This is an example as to why. Get it Jimmy! Roberts voice! John Paul was pretty good also! Every album a classic. They just took turns strutting their stuff. Epic! Gold....
50 years ago!!! How is that possible? Considering that the industry has officially killed rock, enjoy my friends the greatest live rock band in history slaying their most iconic song!! T.u.r.n. I.t. U.p. !! 👍
@@yournightmareracing1754 ABSOLUTELY right! With age comes wisdom. And I enjoy the music more now than I ever have . @@angiebranstetter6017 Spot on! It's truly like you're there and appreciate it even more knowing how rare their live performances were. There are great bands who give amazing live performances, but no one ever took you on the ride better than Zepplin because how well they improvised and made each show fresh.
I saw Zeppelin at UCI on their 2nd US tour and while the entire show was amazing, Bonzo blew us away. We were fairly close to the front and while you could hear everything coming through the speakers as usual, there were so many times in the show that you could actually hear his drums coming straight off the stage as well. I've never experienced that before or since but this video (when he starts to play) always brings it back. His drumming was always loud... live and on record, but to actually be able to pick it out over the amplified sound of the band during the gig was just amazing. He was one of a kind.
The medleys are one of the things that made their live shows interesting. If you want to hear them play the song exactly like the album studio version what's the point in hearing them perform live?
@@DragonSlayer-hw8wl yes mate imagine what other great albums they would have made , lots of bands carry on with different drummers but John Bonham was irreplaceable , it was good to see his son play on the shows they did at the 02 arena 👍🏻

At a late stage in my life I seem to discover the power of LZ being a fan of PF like you. I think both are at the very top in their genre and it makes no sense to rank them. I just wish I could travel back in time ...
@jean-marcducommun8185 agreed it depends more on my mood, but they are both Masters of poetry and music! I think listening to them is time traveling...
Maybe lots of people saying about The God Jimmy, King Robert or Lord Bonham, but few people saying about how good is John Paul Jones. JPJ is the greatest bassist ever..

These four guys made something exceptional, incredible. They were just 4 young men, each of them was the best in his part of the band, who tried to create legendary music. They made it. Simply the best of the (hard) rock, emulated by so many other bands. But they are in the Olimpo of rock, at the first place.
This is perhaps the earliest complete professionally recorded live performance of Led Zeppelin in great quality. The concert happened on January 9, 1970. At the point when this concert took place, the group had no more than a year and few months of existence, since it was founded on the second half of 1968. There are very few live recordings of the group of their 68/69 era (aside from unofficial live “bootlegs”) and the only ones available are sourced from Radio or TV shows. As far as I know, prior to this recording, there are no more of its kind from the early days of Led Zeppelin.
@@louislaz Yes, I know it. The point is that this show was taped with 8 multitracks (which was the standard for professional studio recordings) and filmed with 16mm cinematic cameras; not so common traits for live recordings in those days. The Who’s Live at Leeds was recorded with the same technology aforementioned above, albeit with no video. The Denmark show was recorded using broadcast technology (mono audio and black/white picture), which was the standard for TV media back in those days. I’m not talking about the highlights of the performance, but the quality of the recording itself.
Jones is the best member of Led Zeppelin. You have Jimmy killing it on guitar, Robert singing, Bonzo is keeping the time. all 3 of them gunning hard for the spotlight. Jones holds them all together in every last song! He's consistent, he's well trained, he's the most important piece!

The Beatles!
watching and listening to this, it’s sad to know that this kind of stage presence and raw unfiltered musical performance no longer exists in the world. don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of great and extremely talented artists out there, but no one shows up like this on stage anymore. it’s this special kind of magic of its time. what an important time in music history. grateful to at least be able to watch this sort of footage 🧡 it keeps the magic alive.
TURNSTILE does… check them out!!!
Absolutely
Agree. Like to compare it with artist like Picasso, Jackson Pollock ... these people opened doors and it seems that no more closed doors are left. We are fortunate to have lived thru this rather unique time period and looking around I feel sad because (most of) contemporary artist give me the feeling of commerce.
yes, “the feeling of commerce” is a great way to describe it!
most of the best music i’ve heard these days come from various underground scenes.
Agree, we need it now! Especially in Russia.😮
The vocals, the guitar work, the drums....just awesome. Such an amazing group.
I thank God every day that I had the grace to grow up in this time. The memory will last a lifetime🙏
Here I am , also 👍👍

I'm a programmer and I spend a few nights working. When my brain is tired and asking for rest, I come here and I hear Zeppelin live, so my brain "wakes up" and I'm back to being productive. It's better than coffee.
This is what I do too.

So true!

Walked 60k for cancer in Toronto listening to these tunes when I was 52. 😊🇨🇦
How blessed are we that these 4 rock Gods found each other, during our lifetime?!
You are so right. Imagine just one of them not playing in the band it would be a totally different vibe. The four of them together made Led Zepplin what they were. (Rusty)

THRU MIDDLE MAN CALLED SATAN
Did this people realize that they were truly in the presence of greatness? Oh, to say that they saw Zeppelin in person.. I was honored to see Robert in person on Saturday and was still blown away. Not sure what I would have done if I could have seen the greatest to ever do it like these folks did.
Amazing Zeppelin.Pure magic. This is what happens when you turn music inside/out and re-invent it!❤😂
3:15 The (meaningful) sloppiness in his playing adds so much character as if he were truly speaking his mind through his guitar. No matter how much I try playing with the same feel, it’s too hard to even imitate his playing. Perfection 👌
That’s why I love the live versions more than the album. The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, etc. They all sound mesmerizing when they play live
It’s because you’re imitating and not performing

About 11 years ago, I had my niece's kids in my car. I put on Black Dog and Rock N Roll, with ghe windows up and the CD player cranked. They sat in silence, just 3 little kids - ages 9, 11 and 14 - completely stunned, in awe, never to be the same again. It's great to be an aunt.
The perfect union of the right musicians at the right time, and nobody has ever topped them.
Truth!!!!!!
Robert your voice is unreal!! I love this song very sexy
I’m better
Perfect union …etc, can equally be said about: The Who; Emerson, Lake & Palmer; YES; The Jimi Hendrix Experience; The Grateful Dead; The Allman Brothers Band, & others.
Each group has it’s own unique “personality”, each one had fantastic musicianship, & created great music. Zeppelin, great musicians they were, also were the best cover band in history, given all the plagiarism thru their 1st 4 albums. Saw em live at MSG in NYC 1977, great concert, one of the best shows I ever saw.
Pure artistic at its finest. They preformed so effortlessly and with so much passion that is unmatched 😮.
I said this very thing to a person tonight 😊
Every time I listen to Zeppelin I come closer to appreciating that nothing rocks harder than them. Nobody can ever truly appreciate how hard they rock. We can only approach appreciation.
Most intoxicating voice I’ve ever heard. Epic performance
Perfect adjective! Intoxicating.
Plant’s primal wail sends shivers down my spine, those concerts still echo through space-time.
Bohmans in the intro makes me wail
the band that influenced EVERYONE after them!

Antonin Royannais I love it too. It looks as if they were "tuning in" one the other.
Hands down the greatest rock song ever made with an opening riff to stop you dead in your tracks.
Not even their best song. Still a great song.
Greatest riff is a good argument but even for how mainstream and overplayed it is, ‘Stairway to Heaven’ is easily still the consensus #1 song of all time
With a band this good, their live performances sound better than their albumns. Not many artists today can do that.

Epic! Gold....
these guys were only 22-26 years old during this show, completely fully formed, original and inimitable.
How is that possible?
Considering that the industry has officially killed rock, enjoy my friends the greatest live rock band in history slaying their most iconic song!! T.u.r.n. I.t. U.p. !! 👍
Correct ! It's going on 50 years.
I was born in 70 and came out rockin to Zepplin!
@@angiebranstetter6017 And still jamming, right Angie? 😎
@@yournightmareracing1754 ABSOLUTELY right! With age comes wisdom. And I enjoy the music more now than I ever have . Audio is awesome of course, but with video you can SEE the music and actually feel the passion that the musicians put into it. It's like hearing it all for the first time and taking you back your youth and all those memories come rushing back. I could go on and on but I'll leave you with one word..... OUTSTANDING!!
I like it when they stick by the original recording in the screaming middle section instead of going into different songs.
I kind of like it going into different songs of theres , you get a little taste of all the goodness .
In 1970 they were still playing How Many More Times, which is the song they used for the oldies medley.
The great Led Zeppelin ! I'm glad I grow up listening to to Rock and Roll
The medleys are one of the things that made their live shows interesting. If you want to hear them play the song exactly like the album studio version what's the point in hearing them perform live?
😳o F'n AYE!! I LUV THE TRIBALNESS OF BONHAM'S GOIN BIZONKERZ ON HIS BABY🙏✝️

I listen to Pink Floyd a lot but when I think about the ultimate rock and roll it has absolutely Led Zeppelin!

Look up the Denmark live TV appearance from 1969. It’s even more incredible than this, and with perfect sound and mixing.
