  • This is Part 1 of the project where I build the enclosures for the Sound Bar and the Subwoofer. In Part 2, I will be finishing the project with the drivers, crossover and electronics installation. The project uses a 2.1 TPA3116 Bluetooth amplifier to provide power to the drivers. It comes with the function to set the master volume, stereo channel level, subwoofer level and crossover frequency.

    Great vid. I have the same Festo circular/track saw. Do you have a part number for the aluminum track? I love the saw but I could really expand my capabilities by adding a track to it.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks. It is a Festo FS 1400 track. The saw is probably around 20 years old so not sure the track are available anymore. You might have to contact Festool to find out.

    Nice vid. I enjoy watching your builds! I never noticed before but see you are using a Triton router. Curious to know how you are mounting it to the table? I was thinking of mounting the plate (fence) to the table - looks like you are doing something similar?

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  7 лет назад

      Thank you! I made an aluminum plate with same keyholes as the plate that comes with the router and attached it to the bottom of the surface. I can then easily remove the router and use it with the plate that comes with it when I need to.

    Honestly I would have suggested you use a 6.5 or grater for the subwoofer... a small Dayton driver is simply not as good as a true subwoofer...

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  6 лет назад +1

      Thats not a small Dayton driver. It is a Tang Band 5inch subwoofer driver. Two of them that performs much better than just one 6.5inch. For the application, they perform better than expected.

    • @essentialedm937
      @essentialedm937 7 лет назад

      Erik did it I was wondering this also as I used mdf and the paint kept chipping off in places, especially on the corners. I even used a primer paint before the main paint.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  7 лет назад +1

      It is a sanding sealer. It seals up the MDF after a couple of layers and sanding after each. it provides for a very nice surface for paint application. I still recommend a primer and then final coat after the sanding sealer.

    Witch one is the best.. with pasive radiator or air hole.. thank you..

    • @__-fm5qv
      @__-fm5qv 4 года назад

      It depends on the application. Normally, if you have room for it, a bass port (the air hole) is better as it offers a slightly lower group delay. Essentially that means you get a punchier bass response. However there are downsides, firstly the port takes away from the enclosure volume which limits how low you can tune said port if your enclosure is pretty small. Secondly if you try to avoid this by having a narrower port in a small box (for any given box to tune lower you have to have the port either longer, narrower, or both), you can run into port noise; basically the sound of the air whooshing in and out. And so in cases where you have a small enclosure passive radiators normally are a better choice, as they don't have port noise and normally take up less room in the box for any given tuning.
