- Jared Drake Bell, the 34-year-old actor best known for his leading role on the 2000s Nickelodeon series Drake and Josh, has been charged with a felony in Ohio over an alleged inappropriate “relationship” with a teenage girl.
According to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, the teen was 15 years old at the time of the alleged Dec. 2017 incident. She filed a report with her local police department in Canada in Oct. 2018. This report regarded an incident that allegedly happened the year before at a nightclub in Cleveland, Ohio.
“Canadian authorities contacted the Cleveland Division of Police who conducted a subsequent investigation,” said prosecutor’s office spokesman Tyler Sinclair in an email to Law&Crime. “That investigation revealed that the victim, who had established a relationship with Bell several years prior, attended his concert in December 2017. While there, Bell violated his duty of care and, in doing so, created a risk of harm to the victim. The investigation also revealed that months leading up to the concert, Bell sent the victim inappropriate social media messages.”
In addition to being an actor, Bell is a musician.
Bell pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Thursday. The defendant is charged with attempted endangering children (a felony), and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles (a misdemeanor).
Bell’s attorney Ian Friedman indicated that all facts will be revealed in court, but he has no additional comment, said a statement from law firm Friedman & Nemecek.
Ex-girlfriend Melissa Lingafelt said last year that Bell was verbally and physically abusive.
He denied wrongdoing.
“As our relationship ended - more than a decade ago - we, unfortunately, both called each other terrible names, as often happens when couples are breaking up,” Bell said in a statement to People. “But that is it.”

Came to rewatch it after the documentary because i always thought something was off about this girl. After rereading the case and watching this ive found this. He was never arrested or charged with SA crimes. She claims he did and claims theres texts between them describing it, including when she "ended it and called him out on it" but thatd be enough confession to arrest him under SA charges. Which means those texts never existed. If the aunt was there at a hotel room outside the door, there would be a witness to SA, which he again was not arrested for. In the backseat of her aunts car while she drove? Not arrested for SA. "I have panic attacks" *has first and only panic attack on cue* girls like her are the reason real SA survivors dont come out.
@@chrisduchnowski3721even if a man doesn’t SA the girl I would probably still not let my kid talk to drake after seeing the texts and the years of grooming and waiting for her to be 15 1/2 when it becomes legal for him to do this. Also being mindful of the state he’s in and the minor laws there suggest he knew it was wrong or at least googled it. For me it says something bad is churning in his head. I’m a huge Drake fan but yeah I wouldn’t leave him around my little sister or anything. 😢

Unfortunately, do you take the risk of being found guilty by a jury because if she had even mentioned these during her testimony he would have been found guilty by the court of public opinion. Plus I think the defence may have needed to bring up evidence related to his own history which at that time he wasn’t ready to do.
