What made me furious is reading up on this case and basically, he shot and beat the wife to death and hacked his daughter, who couldnt speak and had special needs, with an axe. He stabbed his son and set the house no fire - the WORST thing is he represented himself and therefore got the chance to 'cross examine' his own SON who was brave enough to stand as a witness - this 11 year old had to stand there as his FATHER, and the guy he saw murder his whole family and tried to murder him - tried to poke holes in his story.
There should be laws in place to make sure a person is not allowed to represent themselves when a child or other vulnerable person is standing in court as a witness.

And to anyone who might be reading the details of the trial in the future. At some point many felons will apply for mistrials or to get their sentence reduced somehow. By clarifying her choice the judge makes it more difficult for someone to do that in the future.

There’s “prison justice” in so many places that to hear it doesn’t exist in Florida is a damn shame. There are other states in which he’d be deliberately thrown into Gen-Pop because it’s known that other inmates would “handle him” in a way the court system can’t. Some leave the bench due to the horrible things they have the "best seat" to. Sooner rather than later they see cases they would never have wanted to see. Like many things careful what you ask for. What made me furious is reading up on this case and basically, he shot and beat the wife to death and hacked his daughter, who couldnt speak and had special needs, with an axe. He stabbed his son and set the house no fire -
the WORST thing is he represented himself and therefore got the chance to 'cross examine' his own SON who was brave enough to stand as a witness - this 11 year old had to stand there as his FATHER, and the guy he saw murder his whole family and tried to murder him - tried to poke holes in his story.

I admire this judge. She spoke with authority, she spoke with anger and disbelief, she spoke with profound sadness. She showed the court what a remarkable human being she is. And i commend her for her ability to look that man in the eye and tell it like it is. This guy has no remorse. Hats off to the Detective who adopted the 8 year old son who survived. I see a lot of comments here using the word “gangsta” but not for nothing but the detective who stepped up to the plate from the first time he met that boy on that horrible night and cared for him and loves him like his own son. There was a murder in my spt bldg. Girlfriend. Her uncle and 2 kids. Scum bag after 17 yrs claims he didn't do it. Walls here a paper thin. Witness heard him. His best friend picked him up with gun in his hand. But he didn't do it!! He's still appealing his case!!

I’ve been to jail. The inmates always check your papers/folder to make sure you’re not a pedophile, so once they find out he killed a child, he’s definitely going to get it. Trust me.

I have also been to jail and if you have too you will know that these types of offenders go into protective custody...so no he won't get it in jail you are wrong

There’s “prison justice” in so many places that to hear it doesn’t exist in Florida is a damn shame. There are other states in which he’d be deliberately thrown into Gen-Pop because it’s known that other inmates would “handle him” in a way the court system can’t. I’m disgusted that he’ll be left alone in a Florida prison and sickened by the possibility that he could use it to his advantage to become a “force” or a “respected” inmate within prison in Florida.
And the guards will open his cell and let them take every frustration they have out on him, they will send in the worst of the worst, I give him a year
@freesf ftrefv Yeah that’s usually the case and even then as sometimes as long as you keep your head down and stay to yourself it really won’t be problems. Still depends on the prison. A Max with dudes in for life that’s a different story.

@Tyler Many judges are respected. Criminal case judges usually have to have very serious security for the rest of their life. Some leave the bench due to the horrible things they have the "best seat" to. Sooner rather than later they see cases they would never have wanted to see. Like many things careful what you ask for. You may get it.
