It is actually the most accurate (so far) in a 10/22 build I've been doing, comparing it only to other HV HP offerings of modest price. My go-to for plinking is the SV CPRN. For a 2000 round case, depending on where and when you buy it, it's about 110.00. That's some pretty cheap plinking. At 100 yards I've got both my 10/22's tweaked down to a 2" circle for 100 rounds. I don't bitch about that.
I have shot the HV and SV for years in steel challenge matches. Both pistol and carbine. I like it for the cost when firing that many rounds. I wish you would have added one of your 1022s to the test. Your 1022s are as accurate as most of your bolt guns. CCI is nicely packaged bulk ammo
@@johnkirkpatrick1536 the 10/22s are just as accurate but every one has a match or tighter chamber. Not the best for this kind of ammunition and cycling reliably.
SK Magazine in my old CZ455 as measured with Garmin Xero 1070fps SD 8.0 ES 26.8, 30 rounds recorded. Use it for Day at the Range challenge targets. You can see why!
Hey there Don, I think that CCI Mini Mags would be a good test for this list! You can buy 300 round boxes (at least in canada) and I think it would be worth a shot haha. Cheers and thanks for the great vids:)
Great testing! I really enjoy these especially since I just bought a Tikka T1X. I think the 60gr bullet is just too long to stabilize in the average twist rate. I have seen a few custom barrels with a higher rate of twist that are more accurate with this load. I think 45 gains is about max weight for the average barrel. However, it would be interesting to see someone load a 50 gr semi-flatnose bullet at say 950-975fps
You’ll have to do a wrap up video shooting the top 3 ammos through your best 10/22 also. I vote CCI AR for bulk instead of Minimags. Curious what the best Augila would have done in that CZ………..
I used a few hundred of the 60grs pre coof, but they're basically impossible to get now. They worked well in my Savage MKII and my 20 inch Green Mountain AR-22, but not my father's Savage B22 since they just wouldn't stabilize. I don't remember my groups, but definitely sub 4 MOA at 50, with a 9X scope too. I think you were using some older stuff as mine had the newer looking color combo, so maybe it's different? I think mine was about 970 FPS, but you really can't expect any batch consistency from these places. Really wish I could get more for a decent price and not what the scalpers are charging these days. Wonder if Aguila discontinued it. As for Minimags, I'd say that anything under 15cpr on Ammoseek with f/cf shipping would be considered bulk ammo. I recently purchased 5K of the Aguila standard velocity and it all came in packs of 50. I wouldn't just an ammo by it's packaging, as for some reason the CPR was better than 10 of the 500rd boxes
@mlone7 The small one. It's the best because: 1. It runs, 2. It is the second most accurate ammo I have tried (and I've tried a lot), 3. It is the cheapest ammo where i live, 4. It is readily available, and 5. The copper washed bullets don't foul up the factory barrel as fast as lead.
@@sapago4166 I have the Competition SCR. I have run many of the Aguila ammo's through it but I tend to stick with the 40gr mainly because that is the grain I shoot in my rifles. I fixed all the running problems in the TX which were all magazine related. My gun runs any ammo now so I dont worry about trying this or that brand. I agree on the copper washed. I put the Holosun 507C on it and it seems like no matter what ammo, it shoots great. I hit 4" steel with it consistently at 50yds. I have not checked accuracy on paper but maybe I should and see what ammo it really likes. The TX started out sucking but after I fixed the mags its one of the best shooting guns I have. I have even mixed 4 different ammo's in it and ran it slow or fast. Maybe one fail to fire in 1000 rounds that was ammo related.
I don't think I've ever tried grouping with the Aguila. Good to know it'll do for some fairly accurate plinking - I have a fair amount of the CPRN SupEx and LHP Subs lying around. Thanks! *Regarding Mini-Mags:* I consider "bulk" to be ammo that comes loose in a box. To my knowledge, CCI branded ammo never comes that way. Still, the entire CCI line has always been considered the top reasonably priced target/hunting rimfire ammo by most. Certainly worth a close look using your methodology. And it shouldn't have the feeding/extraction problems in your match chamber(s) either.
Looks like your results are just like miy, the chrono makes it seem like it might shoot, but it's just plinking ammo for me. @@kfsrmn yeah I realize it requires a faster twist, but let’s be honest, who makes a barrel like that for common rifle? Who’s gonna buy a barrel specifically for this ammunition? Most of this ammunition will be shot out of a 1-16 or maybe a 1-12 which is another unicorn, but nobody will be shooting this out of a 1-9 where it’s designed for. Kinda silly to make a round like this.
I really want to see the Eley HP High velocity! It's about all i shoot. I hunt with it, but it's very accurate in my gun. Also i say it's fine to add the CCI, It shoots terrible for me.
Yes, please add CCI Mini-Mag to bulk ammo reviews. It is priced from 7.3 to 10 CPR at several dozen sellers at Ammoseek so it is priced the same as most other bulk ammo. It performed no better than the high velocity 40 gr Aguila ammo in my Tikka T1x at 50 yards. So even it CCI packages it in clear hard plastic containers of 100 rounds each many gun owners find it still performs no better than other bulk ammo sold in 200 to 400 round quantities in cardboard packages. I am not sure I bothered to test Mini-Mag and other bulk ammo at 100 yards except for three 50-round boxes of Federal Champion I picked up at Walmart back in January of 2022. That ammo provided consistent 1 MOA or very close to 1 MOA groups at 100 yards. I never found any Federal Champion lot numbers in 2023 or 2024 that performed that good. The first box of Federal Auto Match I tried in my T1x provide more 1 MOA groups than not at 100 yards but the next box has had all the groups well over 1 MOA. I have many boxes so I will try each with my T1x and then just shoot the poor performing lot in my other 22LR firearms. Even if you find a box of bulk ammo that performs great the next box with different lot number my not perform well at all.
@@raykettel1837 this reply is spot on and speaks the absolute truth and it’s a shame. I have had the exact same results with inconsistent bulk ammunition. I think 1 moa maybe even 1.5 moa would be acceptable accuracy for bulk ammunition. But that’s a stretch for most of these ammunitions to do consistently lot to lot.
Blazer has been my go to ammunition for years. The loose pack in the milk cartons CCI has lost their minds on. They have shaved 2 grains on the weight 38 gr. vs. 40 gr for the brick Blazers and the loose packed is .13 a round or more!
@@andyphillips3 basically the match chamber does not play well with this bulk ammunition. I was having all sorts of extraction problems and it was quite hard on a very expensive rifle. The tikka and the Cz both shot the bulk ammo about the same so I took the CZ out.

The 60 grain stuff was not stable from my Ruger 77/22. I have often wondered what rifling twist rate would be necessary to stabilize the bullet, and what its intended purpose is. Does anything shoot it well?
@@johnstewart2011 I have had several people tell me I need a faster twist barrel to stabilize that bullet, lol, ok I get that but who sells that. Last I’ve seen everything is 1-16 unless it’s spun up custom.
@@kennethpruitt8534 point of the series is loose bulk ammo. I have seen mini mag HPs in 300 round packs so I suppose it can be considered bulk ammunition. @@joeyholloway1515 yeah I get what your saying but where on earth can you find that without spinning up a barrel with a gunsmith? Everything is 1-16 now.
I agree that Tac-22 should be tested. It is priced cheaper than CCI Mini-Mag on Ammoseek and the same as CCI Standard Velocity and other bulk ammos. Some say their 22LR firearms like it and some say some of their firearms hate it. I got some good groups with some Tac-22 in my Taurus TX22 pistol but no groups any better than any other bulk ammo groups with my T1x. If I recall correctly a few groups might have been 1.2 MOA but many more were closer to 2 MOA. Some have claimed that the older Tac-22 sold in black boxes performed better for them than the red boxed ammo that replaced the black boxes. Many hate the messy wax/lubricant that Norma places on their 22LR. Some claim they have to clean it out of their magazines to prevent issues with feeding from their magazines. I always try to have a rag or paper towels with me at the range when I shoot it so I can clean it off may fingers.

No. CCI Mini-Mag is not a bulk ammo. Bulk ammo is packed loose in cartons. I shoot a LOT of 22lr because of the cost compared to centerfire. I don't really know what makes an ammo considered to be a "bulk ammo", but I buy all of my 22lr in bulk and CCI Mini-Mags are my go to, last purchase was 5K rounds of the 40gr target.👍 Good review of these loads.👊

@@markbucher7609 neither would I.
Please do shoot some CCI Mini Mag ammo. It is offered in 300 round boxes, so I would consider that bulk ammo. Good video.

@@frankbrowning328 yeah I seen it on the shelf and thought I’d give it a shot. No pun intended
yes on mini mags.
You’ll have to do a wrap up video shooting the top 3 ammos through your best 10/22 also. I vote CCI AR for bulk instead of Minimags. Curious what the best Augila would have done in that CZ………..
@@georgecolee7663 don’t know don’t care. I put that rifle through enough. Lol
The 38 gr CHP is the best ammo in my Taurus TX-22. I buy bricks of it frequently.
why is it the best? Is yours the small one or the competition model?
@mlone7 The small one. It's the best because:
1. It runs,
2. It is the second most accurate ammo I have tried (and I've tried a lot),
3. It is the cheapest ammo where i live,
4. It is readily available, and
@@upStomp agreed
I'm surprised you haven't tested CCI standard velocity.
The Aguila has been good to me, though. It just smells.
I think the Aguila consistency comes from the use of the Eley Prime System (EPS).
If you closely read the box they don’t say that anymore. They smell the same though.
Awesome, I never knew that and I've put more of that down range than all other 22 ammo combined.

The Aguila Sniper Subsonic 60 grain requires a 1:9 twist rate to stabilize. Aguila has a Golden Eagle 40 grain SV I am wondering about.
@@RimfireSS Might work in an AR15 22lr conversion unit. You would be looking at 1:7/8/9. There are aftermarket barrels for the 10-22 available.

I really want to see the Eley HP High velocity! It's about all i shoot. I hunt with it, but it's very accurate in my gun. Also i say it's fine to add the CCI, It shoots terrible for me.
Please do add CCI Minimags. My 1984 model 10/22 sporter shoots great with the 36 grain Minimags. Not so much with the 40 grain.

@RimfireSS tac22 is so cheap I feel like it would fit in the bulk series, maybe a series on 5 to 10 dollar a box mid grade ammo?
No. CCI Mini-Mag is not a bulk ammo. Bulk ammo is packed loose in cartons.
