    We used to go swimming at this beach in Rhode Island as kids. And we would go in pretty deep, like up to our necks because we thought there were no dangerous sharks out there in shallow water. Last week off the exact same beach not too far from shore a guy catches a great white!! Even though I was swimming in the waters 15 years ago I'm still scared to know that there were probably sharks around me.

      I'm very late to the party here but sharks frequent knee deep water. They love the shoreline and hunt rays there. We've had 4m+ sharks 2m offshore here in Australia.

    Awesome photo!!! Sharks have evolved over millions of years to be effective and efficient predators. If this shark wanted to feed or bite this young lad or anyone else out surfing that day it could have and would have with no problem. This animal was more likely checking out what this "unusual thing" was in its ecosystem and when it realized it was nothing of relevance to its life, it turned away and went about its day. Don't fall into the trap of "Shart(Shark) Week Dramatizations" thinking they are ruthless killing machines. If this were true, beaches would be bloodbaths on the daily. We don't provide the nutrients they prefer for survival, hence we aren't a desired food source. Yes occasionally people get bit and once in a while its a feeding bite, humans have eaten humans too when they were hungry enough. It's ok to be concerned, its better to be educated and respectful.

    • @parkesy82
      @parkesy82 6 лет назад +2

      No one paddles out through a ‘surf lane’? Dude do you even surf? Aussie beaches are full of kooks and surfers having people paddling across in front of them is normal. It wasn’t a competition. It was just a dad taking photos of his kid surfing and found this one and claimed it was a shark. If that’s a shark with it’s mouth opening then it’s swimming belly up. That’s far more unlikely than a surfer duck diving in front of another. They were either mistaken with the photo or searching for a couple minutes of fame

      I am no shark expert but what i do know from watching diffrent animal programs is that almost every shark have a state called tonic immobility this happen when a shark is turned upside down something happens in the brain of the shark and it falls into a trance, almost a state of full paralysis. It would be very unlikely to have this shark in this position and not suffer from tonic immobility. If this is legit then it could absolutly be one that not suffer from tonic immobility but it is clear if it is a shark it is upside down. Some years ago an Orca killed a great white and it was determined that this was the way it was done. For some cleranse orcas do it all the time to stingrays that also suffer from tonic immobility. Here is some of the research. ruclips.net/video/axPR1l6UTe8/видео.html

      dmgbringer, I think you will find a shark is perfectly capable of moving through the water column in pretty much any position, including being inverted. Interestingly scientists have discovered that Great Whites are less susceptible to Tonic Immobility than are other species of shark and to induce the state would require the shark to be held upside down for a certain period of time.

    Oh yeah my boy just got on his board and went back out there DUHH" NEWSFLASH DAD, this time he was lucky there will be a next, and could end up going to the boys funeral. Ignorance is so overpopulated these days, the boy and all surfers are playing Russian roulette

      Ignorance is judging other people for getting on with life instead of worrying about what MIGHT happen.
      Since 2010 Australian average is about 15 shark attacks per year with an average of 3 fatalities. Australian road fatalities in 2017 were 1225. I'm off to the beach, hope I make it and don't get killed or injured on the way. I know I'LL BE SAFER ONCE I'm in the water!
      Wrap yourself and your family in cotton wool and hope nothing happens to them or get on and enjoy life!

      Did you hear what the dad said? After he looked at the foto he called his son away from the next wave and out of the water and warned the other surfers.

    Lol, what an attention seeking couple of kooks. They both know as well as everyone else that its quite clearly another surfer duck diving through the face of the wave. Their back being the last part yo be submerged and causing the boil on the surface of the water. Take half a second earlier we'd have been treated to the sight of the back of someone's wetsuit.

      Haha! Clearly? When was the last time you saw a shark swim belly up through a wave!? It’s a surfer duck diving and if you believe it’s a shark you’re a gullible goose! These kooks relied on guys like you silly enough to believe their photo. Did they offer up the photos either side of this one for us to see? No because it would have showed the surfer in the frame before
