Bull sharks scare me more than other species because they routinely swim in dark brackish water too. I don't swim in the intracoastal waterways because of bull sharks.

@Hulk Smash Yeah. A bull shark that killed several people in a river in Jersey was what inspired the movie Jaws. I've heard they can swim up the Mississippi river almost to Chicago. It's terrifying to know that they can potentially be in any dark freshwater that connects to the ocean.

I was on Slob City's boat with my family during this attack. We were kite fishing a few miles miles away when Carl received the call from Josh about the cobia he was tracking with his drone. We all agreed to get the kites in, switch locations and try to land the cobia. It was an awesome decision! Josh was real time guiding us from his drone camera via his cell phone as we were pursing the cobia. It was intense - Carl wanted us to land that fish. My three boys are huge BlacktipH fans so this was like fishing with their hero. Once the bull shark hit it got more intense - no one was really worried but it was the coolest thing to experience....not often do you get to see such a huge powerful fish losing it's mind on the boat you're in! It was a lot of fun at Carl's motor's expense. I've been on a lot of fishing charters - Carl and his father were far and away the best captain and first mate I've had, they knew their fish and were awesome with my kids. Josh - thanks for the experience bud - my boys had a blast. Slob City & BlacktipH = fish!!!!!

I lived in south Fl for 25 years but only had one unintentional shark encounter. If you are in the beach, in the water and there is a huge school of fish around, get out of the water because a shark may be nearby. I got out of the water just in time. Some sharks come up to the sand. Bull sharks are notorious for doing this. Also had a school of sting rays encounter. Remain calm and don’t try to move fast or they will follow you. They are usually harmless unless they sting you with their barbed tail like Steve Irwin which was so sad.

zootsootful, it happened to me in Hawaii. A shark came in chasing a small tuna I was reelin in and he bit the prop when I yanked the fish out of the water. Teeth went flying and blood in the water. Thought that was it, but he came right back in and bit the prop again! The prop was bent and we limped in to shore. Of course we don’t do videos as we fish commercially. But it’s a lot more common than you’d think. Sharks attack props a lot. They aren’t real bright.

It’s not a random attack at all!!
One of the Sharks many senses used for locating its food is electro reception which allows it to hone in on the tiniest electrical fields and impulses even down to a thousandth of a volt from more than a mile away. All boats and especially OUTBOARD powered boats put a huge electrical current in the water because they not only have anodes but the lower unit itself puts an electrical current in the water as well. That shark thought you boat was a huge dead whale, grouper etc

There was a doc maker named Manny about 15 yrs ago he was stationed in the FL keys mainly. I saw him jump out of a boat once grabbed a 8 ft bull shark side fins and rode it for a distance. The shark hauled butt out of there! He also did cameos on the lost boys MTV show....

I see 2 small young sharks swimming with her. She was protecting her young obviously.

Pickle Squeeze , Thank you!! They look like pups from the footage:(. I was worried that that is why he/she attacked the boat. I still think it got scared from the boat though and it might have been retaliating. Lol

Those were cobia, bull sharks or any sharks dont care or protect their young. They just give birth or lay their eggs and leave. The pups or born with teeth and strength. They are born apex predators so really the pups only predators are, other sharks and maybe goliath groupers.

You can see why attack victims say they were shaken like a ragdoll and we're completely at the mercy of the shark. I believe that although we know it is extremely rare to be attacked, it's the helplessness we would feel that terrifies us.

The shark was close enough to the surface for bullets to give the shark some "deterrence"... . it would have to be a LONG bangstick thou.

Fishing in Hawaii, we had a 44magnum bangstick for sharks. We used it once on a 600 pound blue marlin that refused to give up and was beating the hell out of the boat. The recoil from that thing going off under water is not something you want to experience twice. It worked though. One guy was killed using a bangstick on a shark in Hawaii. The recoil made the stick shoot backwards and it went right through his chest. The shark died too.

In my early 20's I drove from Seattle to Florida just to see the country. I passed the Swanney River and stopped for a swim just to say I swam in that famous river. I went about 20' before remembering that bull sharks swim up rivers that are near warm water coasts.

They’re attracted to the metal. I know most people know this already but thought it was worth mentioning. After watching the rest of the video this gentleman explains it better. It’s never the bow, or the sides. It’s always the engines.
