I have a love-hate relationship with pop-ups. My friends say I get too many and they are annoying. The reason I keep them is because in the murky sea of pop-ups, there of occasional gems. Like this one! Thanks so much for your clear, concise, informative presentation. Thank you for leaving out the fluff & hype. Thanks for not saying you'll tell us something in 3-10 minutes & take at least an hour.
I never have bought the wear tear theory completely! Even though I had spent 35 yrs working in grocery stores , with some second jobs along the way. All physical jobs. Thanks for the video. Due to a friend I met last year, I havecmade some dietary changes. I thank the people who left comments as well! None of the nastiness I find on other channels. People are very encouraging & helpful. I have OA in both knees , as well as, bone spurs in the right. I have found a handful of websites that also dispel what we are told by mainstream stream doctors that it all about wear & tear &/or past injuries, sometimes the haven't healed correctly. Prior to finding out I had knee OA , I'd known a number of people who had OA in various limbs. I knew basically what to expect from doctors. I was happy when my doctor offered me physical therapy ( this was after I'd been on meds for a while). The therapist really understood the ins & out of working at a grocery store. ( Though the years I've been to physical therapy for various injuries & so many doctors. Basically, all I heard was have them give you a desk job or some have you answer phones ( obviously they think a people in grocery stores sit to answer phones). Anyway I found out she gave presentations to many industry heads, including those of grocery store. I was blown away by this! I told her at the store level , there is a lot of preaching about safety, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty, it's about getting your job done within a certain amount of time, in a certain way. Safety isn't a priority. If it was, there would be many fewer on the job injuries. Then again we can never get a true number of employees that don't go on workman's comp because many people just tuff it out or if they have medical insurance they use it instead of going to the workman's comp doctors. Over the last 20 yrs there have been many magazine articles on this topic.
May everyone heal without having to have surgery.! I will definitely check out your other videos. Thanks so much for the care you take in doing your videos. I am definitely going to subscribe!

I have developed this condition in one of my fingers working the last few weeks. I visited my medical centre to speak to a physiotherapist as she was the recommended person to visit about my symptoms. I was sent away saying wait until it gets worse and then come back. I suggested that surely she needed to give me some advice on preventing progression rather than trying to provide a cure once it gets worse. National Health Service in the UK is failing us and it needs this video for Clinicians and physiotherapists to watch so they can give advice such as this.

@@thetree7694Hello ❤ I am still intermittent fasting, exercising, eating healthy and losing weight. I intermittent fast 18-20 hours a day. It sounds tough but it’s really not. I just skip breakfast. I start my morning with water and coffee or green tea. Instead of eating, I might take a morning walk. 🌲 Then, before lunch I might do some chair yoga or a low impact seated workout. I eat a healthy lunch around 12:30 or 1:00. (No sugar, no processed foods…lean protein, eggs and good fats like avocado or olive oil.) Eat whole foods. (Lots of green vegetables and berries.) I eat dinner around 4:30 or 5:00. I NEVER eat after 6:00pm. That’s the key! No snacking after dinner! (This lets your body rest and heal.) I might do another short after dinner workout. I try to get in at least 30 minutes a day if I can. Also, get a good nights sleep. 😴
Start with one or two of these ideas and you’ll notice a difference. 👍 Good luck.

    Thank you for this.
I felt so fed up when I was recently informed that my arthritis in my left hip and lower spine is deteriorating, the pain is debilitating and it affected me in so many ways.
I had a Rt THR in 2020, which gave me a new lease of life, so I was so disappointed/ anxious to realise that the other hip and arthritis in my spine is also now deteriorating,
I dreaded going back to that awful painful time, and to find that my mobility would be totally compromised again.😢
I felt just like you described, hopeless and helpless and in pain.😢
I wallowed in this feeling for about a month, thinking I couldn’t do much about it, then I started to watch your videos and realised that I didn’t have to just give up or go mad in exercising, or have the all or nothing approach, but in fact I could do some gentle exercises and build up the 30 mins throughout the day, this was a turning point for me tbh.
I am now doing these sets of exercises, accumulated your from various videos on here, that I have “ tuned” for my workout.
Some days are easier than others, but I’m doing them!
I’ve also started swimming gently and doing some exercises in the pool, twice a week.
Over the last few days I have noticed that my balance is becoming better, I’m not as aware of major pain, this is such a boost for me both mentally and physically, I have now changed my mindset to
“what can I do for myself” rather than
“I can’t do anything now, this OA is in control”.
This has made me feel so much better in myself, I have taken a bit of power back and will continue to watch and learn from your videos, which are so uplifting and helpful. They also cover lots of different topics re diet etc that are so educational.
Thank you so much for all your advise and support 🤗

Alyssa, this is the best presentation on the subject I have listened to since my diagnosis of hip OA stage 4, three years ago. As an OR nurse, I refused to accept two doctors‘ opinion that surgery/implant was the only solution. RUclips lead me to you only very recently, when searching „cardio with OA“, but I confirm everything you say. I took things into my own hands, and today I am pain-free, walking pretty normal versus limping, re-building lost muscles, and the occasional cracking in the joint gets less and less. In my case, I noticed the physical load at work was too much for my very thin body. As a female after menopause, other joints deteriorated as well: rhizarthrits in both hands, metatarsalgia in the foot. All Improvisation with reducing inflammation and specific exercize. The final step was leaving the job for a physically less challenging one. Now I feel my joints regenerating, or at least Peeling good again. However, I must continue moving etc! Greetings from Berlin 🙌

This is so encouraging @berlinanger1987. I recently was told I was looking at hip replacement due to severe arthritis and bone spurs. The pain I have has really disrupted my sleep for about the last 6 months. I watched another video that talked about Stage 4 really being beyond help other than surgery. I wasn't given a "stage" by my doctor but the look on his face and all the bright dots and rough surfaces on my radiographs make me feel like it is Stage 4. I already know most of what Alyssa presented in this video but implementing diet has always been hard. We are better than most Americans but still fall off the wagon frequently due to not enough cooking at home. And I am a sugar addict. I know prioritizing my health is just a decision I have to make, especially now that this pain and immobility really is preventing me from taking care of and riding my horse (my passion). Wish I could afford Alyssa's full program. She is one of the most encouraging, helpful people I have found online. I love how she truly seems to understand the older, arthritic body.

You are absolutely correct once again. I have been following an anti-inflammatory eating plan for the last year and 8 months. I have lost weight and lowered my arthritis inflammation flare-ups. Hoping to also prevent and slow down more arthritis from setting up too. I already have end stage arthritis in multiple joints, so diet and exercise are my best bets to delay surgeries.

I have osteoarthritis in my foot and ankle due to a tennis injury August 2023. I am missing most of the cartilage on my ankle. If I didn't believe in a relief to the pain, I don't think I'd be around anymore. For me, as an active 48 year old, the way I get through it is not to fall into a depression because that actually makes it hurt more. But what helps more than the gabapentin or the Lyrica or the clonazepam for my worried mind, is exercise.
Motion is lotion ... I've already had a micro fracture surgery in order to create scar tissue
I have managed to keep my joints completely free of erosion due to constant movement and physical therapy
My doctor said I could do anything I want except drive on the highway. There's nothing off-limits to me except if I feel sharp pain, I have to stop what I'm doing
My medical team has given me complete freedom because eventually, they will fuse my foot together

Your information is so appreciated. I started your walk videos and has really helped me. You remind me of a PT person I had to get me to walk. He was a doctor of PT like you. I love your info and video. I have osteoporosis .
    Thank you ❤

Thank you Alyssa for your fantastic videos. So many great exercises, and great information to help those of us with osteoarthritis. I was diagnosed with femoral acetabular impingement six or seven years ago. was prescribed physical therapy, which helped a little. A few years later x-ray showed osteoarthritis, and the gap was too close to get injections. I’ve been doing my best to keep mobile, stay fit, (I am not overweight, weight train, walk, hike and bike regularly, and I eat a pescatarian pretty healthy diet; also take MSM, glucosamine condroiten, collagen, turmeric, etc. I still limp a little even though I work a lot on trying to walk without one, have significantly reduced mobility in one hip, and have hip pain and referred pain if I don’t take a little bit of ibuprofen every day or two. Probably headed for a hip replacement but I’m trying to hold it off as long as possible. (My younger sister had one hip replaced a few years ago and her doctors say she needs the other one replaced. She was a dancer for many years and had a knee surgery as well. The orthopedist says there is can be a hereditary component to osteoarthritis.) I’ll keep working with the exercises my PT gives me as well as yours. It all definitely helps a lot. Thank you!

I will follow u, and i will try my best. To get myself to where I once was. I have degenerative osteoarthritis in both knees, hips, and spine. Also a condition called retrolisthesis. Like the above wasent enough. Everything u said made so much sense. With all that I have taking med. For inflamation. In the last few years my exercise and movement to move has decreased lots. Will follow all u said. Hoping and believing what u said, making so much sense. I can see myself getting being in a better frame of mind. With the word HOPEFUL In mind. More active, more exercise , and movements small or big... ARE KEY. At 67., never did i think id slow down as much as I have. My most pain is in legs. Where I feel tightness, and then the bones below knees get hardened, where sometimes I cant streghtened myself or move till it passes. Very painful. Ive teued lots, got nothing to loose by doing and followin this post. Thanxs for sharing with us. Ur truly AMAZING!

    Dearest Alyssa
I have found your videos to be truly a gift from God. I would like to follow the exercises and tips you share. However, I am facing a hardship and have a humble request to make. I am a bone on bone 57 year old Muslim woman and my faith does not allow me to see anyone uncovered above the knees. I know that my request may sound absurd but I have seen videos of you in tights instead of shorts. If it does not inconvenience you too much could you just think of helping me in this.
    Lots of love and dua
    Peace
