Many thanks for these videos. I'm planning to get an ID.3 next year - please keep uploading!
Really appreciate the in depth, every day usage that you are showing here. Thumbs up!
Thanks useful information. Safe travels and happy holidays everyone
Thanks for the video
I’ve got a 6 month old Skoda Citigo IV - basically the same as the E-UP. I’m getting about 150-160 miles range from the 38kwh battery, and honestly it hasn’t dropped much in the winter. With the heated seats on, it doesn’t seem to make much difference to range, but the heater certainly does.
I also own an electric Citigo. It's one of the most efficient cars in summer. In winter turn Eco mode (not Eco+) and heated seats on. So you do not get cold and avoid windows condensate
Default automatic mode does only waste energy.
Just curious... does the central screen not go into some sort of dark mode whilst you’re driving in the dark? Seems quite bright in comparison to the rest of the controls with its light background...
Yes - first few minutes in the cold use a lot. Next ‘worst’ is motorway speeds. I have come to think of mine as offering 200 miles from 100%. I don’t use air con a lot, but have used the car at motorway speeds for a high proportion of its miles to date.
Yea that lines up with what I found then :)
That’s reassuring for me; I’m awaiting the arrival of my ID.3 and live in a rural location so most of my driving will be on motorways. I like speed and hope to be able to continue driving in my usual style in my first EV. I’ve watched a lot of videos where the reporter has said EV needs to be driven sedately/calmly and the EV doesn’t do well on motorways.
With my ID.3 in the January temperatures of 5 deg. C on a 100% charge the computer shows 193miles. A run to Heathrow at night 22 deg. C interior heating without seat heating and driving at 70mph I managed only 170 miles. I was short of 10 miles for the trip requiring a quick charge and coffee break. At 60mph the car would have walked it.
Hi, thinking of picking up an ID3, test drive is tomorrow. What model do you have? Thanks
Thanks for that, Henry. Real driving examples. Does your ID3 have the sunroof? If so, is there an internal sliding cover so it’s not just glass up there?
It doesn't have the sunroof unfortunately
It has a slider that helps with power consumption for heating the car
in Switzerland here, so it's pretty cold most of the time (high of -1c, low of 05c today)
Have the MAX which is heavier but also has the heat pump (which may help) and have been averaging around 3.8m / KW with aircon on auto
Best I've managed was on a B road drive of around 25 miles where we did 5.6m
5.6 miles per kWh was that in temperature you said or in summer?
@@nickieredshaw7835 it was in 5c... Have managed it a couple of times since too... Maybe I'm an inadvertent hyper miler
@@stevewalls7812 nice well done 👍 I’m getting high 4 s in that temperature but don’t drive very eco as love the instant power of evs , anyone got info on what difference the between the heat pump car and none heat pump cars of same spec tyres etc makes ? . Had 6.8 miles per kWh in summer about 20 c ish on flat ground roads and over 22 miles upto 50 mph a roads driving eco in a Zoe ze50 . But had early 6s and high 5 s all summer not driving very eco as can’t contain the boy racer feelings lol ! Looks like id3 can be nice and efficient if got heat pump what size wheels have you got ?
I noticed when you were turning at a junction the light bar didn’t light up the direction, have you turned it off or isn’t it working?!
You missed the most effective way to waste energy - going 100miles/h on the motorway constantly :)
Can't do that legally in this country
Over the last few weeks i have test drove the ID3 3 times (Daytime December) and no occasion did I managed to get much more than 2.7 miles per kWh, I don't use the heated seats or climate during the test and I find this number to be shocking. I was told by the sales rep there are software faults still to be fixed in the ID3 and this could be one of them, looking at your video I am not so sure he was telling me the truth if you are 300 mile in and averaging 2.5 that seems really low. I also drove the KONA and that across the board managed 4.7 on motorway, a road and b road runs during test drives. Something just doesn't seem right with the ID3 and unfortunately put me off the purchase despite the 9000 pound reduction on the 1st edition to buy before the 21st, such a shame.
Yer in the winter it will be lot less than summer and around town if you drive hard it can get that low with ev in general. Were averaging about high 3 to mid 4 s this winter on mixed trips but driving hard not eco at all as love the instant power in Zoe ze 50 .
Hi is your ID3 the Life Pro model ?
Hello mate, does the life have a reverse cam? Sorry nothing to do with this video lol
Worse case range is many small journeys with a cold battery as the battery expends a lot of energy to heat itself up to 13C. Not sure if this behaviour will change with the big sw update.
Small journeys are also probably low speed, so won't use that much juice. Liquid cooling means extra heat comes from the motor and inverter so it's all recycled
We have id3 and an egolf and I'm finding the egolf to be much more efficient so far.. I always thought the ID would be more efficient.
Picked my car up earlier today. Had 96% charge and 212mls range. Drove back home some 53mls and still had 184ml left and 76% charge . Happy days. Only issue I have is the Service Interval says 0 days, so I don't know what the Interval times are as there is no service schedule booklet in the Owners Manual. What's yours.
It might show correctly another time you use it. Mine varies a lot in relation to what decides to work, software-wise.
The dealer told me its first service after 1 year, then every 2 years after that. Not sure about mileage limit because we never hit it lol
should be first service in 2 years or 20k miles, then every 12 months , please phone your dealer, enjoy id
Worst case scenario is 200 miles (321KM). Not bad. Are you using the 58KWh battery?
I think it would be useful if you could quote running costs in a way that a petrol head could relate to.... Example - could you explain the running costs in £s that you pay for the electricity.. The watt hour figures means absolutely nothing to the average person who is thinking of converting to an electric vehicle.... Thanks in advance
Can you dim the large screen? It looks very bright and distracting.
Found this from late summer this year at 13 c day ruclips.net/video/2hn31vLKgho/видео.html so 200 miles or so is all you want to use is around what you get in 13 c in the day maybe but colder at night on mixed speeds. Mid 3s miles per kWh at only 35 mph average so not exactly beating it ,and at about same time in Zoe ze50 we was getting high 4 s and early 5 s !
Is it not the average of 2.5 x 58kw/h which is about 145 miles?
In 20 miles you can't get real average. And in stop and go traffic. For sure will be over 3.0.
And don’t forget you don’t want to go down to 0 miles so I say don’t go below 10% so about 130 miles is useable on they miles per kWh you show in video.
May I just say: It's just not fair! Why can't I buy ID.3 over here in the States? Why, VW, _WHY_ ?
ID.4 soon come 👀
@@EVDriver Thanks, I know -- but I would prefer the hatchback.
@@xchopp ID4 is also hatchback, kind of. With 5th door.
What ID.3. Version? Not sure 2.5kw average multiplied by the 58kw battery gives 200 miles. Do the same test at 25% battery and see what happens then. Spoiler alert - you won’t make it.
180-200 miles in winter.
