You should not use an extension lead with the home charger there is a risk of over heating.
I was about to say the same, yeah you get those granny leads free with Nissan, I had a leaf when electric car driving wasn’t as mainstream and it was more tech savvy people like myself that were driving them, yeah so Nissan advised only to use granny lead for emergency’s only and only directly from home plug only and not to use extensions.
Bet the neighbours love the cable hanging out.the window…..,
Nice looking stuff thanks for the review.take care and safe travels
The ID3 rocks!
Congrats!
100th sub lol woohoo
Ok this editing is really good I am very impressed! Nice job
Get my 1st edition on Saturday! So excited!
I just love German technology! The cill protector is definitely worth it and the rubber mats - good job
Looking at that extension lead, I would say it's a bit light for 2.4kW continuous load. Just monitor it and be careful, particularly at the plug inside that it doesn't overheat.
Love the show, Its very good keep up the good work. This is what we need real people doing EV's for real.
Hi, just found your channel and I'm thinking of getting the same model and like you I live in a first floor flat. How's the granny charging going as that's what I would have to use. Thanks for your videos, really enjoying them, keep up the good work!! 👍
Am loving your videos on the id3, i am currently looking at one to replace my current ev, can i ask is your the life model, trying too what i get as standard as i can not test drive the vehicle as yet whilst we are in lockdown
It's difficult see on the video which kind of extension cord you have but if you have to use an one you might want to use a heavy duty cord. I'm sure you don't want to cause a fire.
I think it’s an Amazon bought “Masterplug” brand. Utter crap. I returned mine.
The extension lead you have is not rated for the extended high power draw you need for an EV. You need to get one that is specifically made for EV leads. Available online. Also cables need to be fixed and not left dangling like that.
Hi, as far as I’m aware, you can buy the home charging kit much cheaper on Amazon. And some of them actually include the heavy duty extension cable that you need to do this safely.
Hi, nice videos thanks. The rubber mats and rubber boot liner - which "protection pack" was it please? as there is, 1, 1 Plus, 2 and 2 Plus. I like the ones you went with as we also have a dog.
I never would have thought that you guys live in Devon
Great couple of videos, hope there is more to come. Do you know if the Life model has auto high beam dipping, I think they call it Light Assist?
Yer would be interested to know too ! And are the headlights led ? Maybe a video of the headlights at night would be great thanks
I have one and no the life model doesn't have the high beam assist but they're fill LED front and rear lights, also the indicators are a standard bulb (non led)
@@nickieredshaw7835 hope this helps
Thanks for the video. Can I ask where you bought the back seat dog cover from please?
The boot liner installed has a different code than the one presented in the beginning of the video. The code is 10A061161A.
How nice for your neighbours to look at the messy wiring. Also if I was a neighbour I would be worried about the fire risk . YOU SHOULD NOT USE AN EXTENSION CABLE FOR AN EV CHARGER.
Where did you get the long extension lead from
How is your charging lead working out.
El mas importante despues del cargador de viaje es el doble fondo del maletero...
Is there a public fast charger near your home. Fit in your dog walking while it’s charging.
Worked for me.
Yea there is, but it's not great for the battery to be fast charging all the time, it's better to slowly charge it at home, plus it's cheaper, so we'll try and do that as much as possible

@@EVDriver and if you set a charge limit rember to go upto 100% once a month to balance the pack and calibrate the bms and don’t leave it at 100% more than a day or so ! Safe travels and happy holidays
Granny charger should come with the car. First time I heard anyone having to buy as an accessory.
Get the type 2 charger with the id3 , but granny cable is chargeable
yea but does it have overtake mode or DRS? 😂
Disgrace that they don’t give you the charger with the car. Mini give you the home charger and the type 2 cable.
It’s a little weird and probably down to the importers in each country - in Norway we get both the L2 cable and we get the granny charger. We also get the rubber mats as standard. The sill protectors and boot liner come with the optional protection package which is not cheap for what it is but kind of a necessity if you do any sort of cargo carrying.
Supplying a wall box as standard would be a little unusual though as it’s expensive, people may already have one or can’t have one and fitting one is a specialist job. Many countries have a grant for fitting on too.
There are also several other options not covered here; the transport hitch, the bike rack, the transport boxes, the ski bag, the mirror caps, and the dynamic mirror lights that I can think of off the top of my head. :)
My old boss picked up an ID.3 two weeks ago and it had the type 2 cable and the home charging cable in the boot. He didn't order anything extra, it was a 1st Max.
I think it's a bit rich that VW sell you a door step sealant! That should be built in, after all, you enter and exit the car that way ALL THE TIME!
this is how you NOT should charge a electric car ! never use extension cable !
The 9 hour time showing is to get to 100%
There has been long term tests on electric cars and it’s been proven to be a wrong about rapid charging and to have a good balance between both has proven to be very good for battery chemistry and to exclusively slow charge isn’t very good for the car.
EV Driver, I need some help please. I'm about to order the ID3 Pro and have z few questions to ask you.
