- We get some good progress done on the layout and finish up some spots that maybe should have been done in the last episode! Of course I take you step by step with all the things I do. We also open up a new Walthers Cornerstone Kit and build most of it. Next episode will be much more exciting although I hope you enjoy this one cause these take a long time to make lol

Top RR is an artisan....he is so complete in his explanation and narration ..These videos are classic "how to" instructions here forever ... This end product will be 100%
Your comments are always the best, thank you
Wow, the lessons you have learned and applied are paying off! Looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you man!
Wow, He's Posted Again, And the layouts gotten even better!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m in the armchair planning stage of my switching layout, i have a pile of flextrack some nice equipment , 80’ of sub roadbed . I love what you have here and are doing! It’s exactly the flavor I want!
Awesome video! FYI those stands the propane tanks sit on should be grey as they are almost always made of concrete. I’m a former propane delivery driver. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Keep up the great work!
Good to know thanks for the info!
Take your time, it's all about the journey.
I also use this method for railroad crossings it does really work well... but there is one trick and it will save you a ton of time when your joint compound is still wet take a junkie truck and run it over the rails that will form your Gap👍👍👍
You should look at buying a Zuron Rail Cutter. I would be a lost puppy without mine. It's surgical!
I’ll have to look into that!
👍🏼😎👍🏼
You could use some styrene sheets for the roof of those buildings.
I might do that 😁
awesome video thx for sharing. 😊😊👍👍
I'm definitely going to be buying these propane tanks and making stickers that say Strickland Propane for them.
That would be awesome!
Thanks for the update.
Thanks for watching Dave
Great video. Look forward to the next one.
Layout is looking great. Look foward to your next video.
Thank you!
Excellent work, thanks for sharing!
Great video and tutorial of the progress you've made! The road you made over the track turned out awesome! The color choice you chose matched up like the real thing. Ive got 2 sets of the Commercial Propane kits and i airbrushed mine to get that dull effect. I also did some minimal weathering at the bottom to show they're been there for a while. My shelf switching layout is really coming together. My friend just did my wiring of the feeders and lights for buildings and street lights. Very impressed with your layout and the progress! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
Thank you very much! Nice the propane tanks are a good add on to any layout! Glad to hear you’ve got yours wired up and with lights!
Nice video mate. Nice work with the Level crossing all it needs now are some lights, signage and gates. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you man! And yes! I’ll probably go simple with just signage cause the lights are daunting haha
That road looks great! You do top notch work top railroad. Well done!
Thank you Mark!
some fences and bushes would be great. and of course some weathering to the parkinglot. maybe some cracks in the surface or so. but already looks great!
You do such a good job with your layout.
great to see another update!
Yay, he's arrived again. Awesome video. All the heart and effort you put into your layout looks amazing.
I appreciate it!
great to see more progress on the new layout!
Good stuff - was wondering how you’d incorporate the track when you first laid down the road in an earlier video. Nice work.
I’m excited to see where you put the new industry kit.
Looks good but I’d prefer to see the elevated tracks with cork roadbed underneath, gives the elevated realism ya know
Hi bro. I do the same thing with my rail joiners. And I use my Dremel tool.
Look great the HO scale layout, ballasting the tracks, making railway crossing.
You 😼 with my dog, Scooby Doo.
Bited the tail.
Scooby Dum barked to you 🐱 Binx.
🐱😼.
Your results really come out looking GREAT! Thanks for sharing your techniques.
Your slow-and-steady camera work while presenting the different products you use, with enough time to actually read the labels, is particularly helpful.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Means a lot
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
nice job on the crossing
We look forward to your videos! Laying is looking awesome.
Stupid phone... layout not laying...ugh🧐😒
Some glorious and inspirational work my dude! So well narrated and explained.... I always look forward to your updates. Enjoy the ride!
Thank you so much man!
Keep it going its starting to take shape. Also it's easier if you wrap the sand paper around small piece of wood. It takes less effort and cuts down on sanding time.
Very Nice,👍🏻 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙂
That level crossing looks so clean! I might try that method on my layout sometime. Glad to see another update and tutorial video. Thank you for sharing your awesome work, these videos are helpful and relaxing!
Thank you 😁
The goat uploaded again :) awesome progress dude!
Thank you 😁
Great video
Enjoy watching your videos and learning a lot. I know your busy with life, but would like more updates sooner if you could.
Thank you! And I agree I’ll get the next update out sooner then with this one 😎
Another great video!
Thank you man!
Great stuff dude! Keep it up!
Thank you!
HO scale layout.
Good job my friend.
Where is you 🐱 ?
My dog Scooby Doo bited the tail.
Scooby Dum barked to you 🐱.
You 😼 with my dog Scooby Doo.
😁😁😁
You could put the buildings near the parking lot with construction trucks are
Good idea
Progressing well.
I have to ask though, does the Yard Master interfere with the trains?
He’s not been hired yet lol so technically no
on the crossing you should install a light signal. even if it doesn't turn on
I might do that, I also might just get some crossbucks
Nice!!! .What is the locomotive your running I need one 😂
It’s a Athearn Genesis GP40-2L
If I were you, I won´t trust that cat so much ! Cats, from the nothing, make strange things ! This is a risk to my nice rolling stock. But the Cat is nice, and also your work, Thank you.
10:17.......gyat!!!
Still Haven't heard from you on the Crane.
👍
Looks like you had a little pebble or something in the frog of that turnout the train went over at the start of the video
I did haha didn’t feel like reshooting the shot
So how come you didn't use cork for this layout?
I may use cork on the new sections of this layout but only with mainline. I didn’t do it on these 2 sections cause of the amount of yard and tracks to make it a little easier to work with
Starting my new layout - ive always used foam roadbed on top of my pink foam for my flex track. I notice you dont. It would save me a lot of time, money, ballast, and effort - do you see a noticeable difference?
Sound might be a little different but it does with all that you mention. Like in my other comments I will on the mainline when I add the new sections to make it a little more realistic
So youre gonna use it on the main? I thought about just using on the main and in yards and leaving sidings and industry alone @@TopRailroad
Why no cork roadbed? You bought it in episode one but haven't used it.
Why would you not use a laser cut wood to look like railroad ties at the crossing?
I almost did but I want this to be a paved grade crossing this time around
there's a better way to cut the rail's it's called a track cutting it's kinda like a saw but for HO scale track im ganna get one from amazon
Medium is O-27 scale. Fine is HO Scale.
Hello, I'm trying to understand something about this video. Why did you switch from the white joint compound to the pink joint compound?
I hope you don't think Sir that I'm being a critic about this subject. I'm just watching different videos about HO-Scale How-to, Tips & Suggestion projects being worked on including yours.
Thank you for your time Sincerely
Allan
I only went with the pink one because it was a few more dollars, so in my mind I thought if it was more expensive it would be better quality but in reality it’s pretty much the same stuff. And no worries ask any questions you’d like! I’m happy to help
Sir It's Allan again sorry to bother you I'm wondering Do you think I should use a Atlas Rerailer Track over the self-made Rerailer Track that you just showed us on your video?
Which way do you think would be the best way?
Again Thank you for your time
Sincerely
Allan
No problem! I wouldn’t call the one I made a rerailer, technically it’s just a grade crossing since it wouldn’t work the same as the Atlas Rerailer. I would go with what you prefer. If you like the convenience of having a easy way of getting freight or trains in the track then I would use the Atlas track but if you don’t like the way it looks you can pick up a rerailer that’s not built in at all and a totally separate tool that you place in the tracks and then take off when your done. Hope this helps
I noticed that when you started putting putty down, you had to wash your putty knife, my God man clean you tools, it's not done until your project done start to finish.
Yeah as one who works on cars, I completely agree. Take care of your tools and they'll take care of you.
I just used atlas rerailer tracks
It was literally one pebble
I went from “real track” to power loc track cuz I suck at track laying
Sometimes that’s better especially if you don’t want to do all that extra track work
@@TopRailroad yes, although powerloc isn’t very reliable
Why dont you use cork roadbed? Is it easier to lay track without it?
It is easier but I do plan to raise the mainline on the new sections (when I get there) but on these sections now it was a lot easier to not use any with the amount of yard and sidings
Hi Top Railroad! Layout is coming along nice.
Your cat is beautiful!!! Such a pretty face!!
Is it a boy or girl? What’s its name??
He’s a boy and his name is Binx! He’s my best bud
@@TopRailroadScooby Doo is my best friend.
You cat scared with Scooby.
Scooby Doo barked to you 🐱 Binx.

HO SCALE LAYOUT.
GOOD JOB IN THE RAILWAY CROSSING.
YOU 🐱 BINX SCARED WITH SCOOBY, IS A DOG.
SCOOBY DOO BITED THE TAIL TO YOU 🐱.
SCOOBY DUM BARKED TO THE CAT.
YOU 😼 WITH MY DOG SCOOBY DOO.
what tape do you use to form your roads?
It’s pop dot tape and I get it at the Dollar Tree in the crafts section
@@TopRailroad thank you for the info
What tracks do you use?
I use mostly Walthers Code 83 track and some Atlas
@@TopRailroad Thank you!
Say, how many derailments do you get when you run your trains?
Not often thankfully
You have a bad switch. File it or replace it.
Rough more realistic.
I genuinely love the scene that is forming but I can't help but think you are working bass ackwards. Doing scenage before the rest of your tables or layout is built. This is how you end up redoing things multiple times that you would have only needed to do once. Like that road crossing. You made the road and painted only to tear it up to lay the track and then craft the crossing. Or maybe you come up with a scene for a different part and that would block your view of what you just built or maybe some of the scenery would feel out of place next to new stuff or whatever. It's just inefficient.
I'm building my own O scale layout with my pops. We had 3 runnable lines on 2 tiers competed before we started any scenery that way we could mix and match pieces to try to get the best scenes from different angles. Once we liked what we had, then we drilled the holes for the electrical hook ups. On the first tier, we finished an oil refinery and have plans to do a farm a mine/quarry. On the second tier we are planning a winter town and a mountain with a rescue station.
Happy railroading!
I can agree and do think that sometimes but I’ve put a good amount of thought into what and where stuff will go (maybe not the road crossing haha) I guess I do things a little different but the vision will come with time for my layout. I appreciate the input!
I got to say watching you build those tanks was horrible. I hope you straighten them out filled in the seams with maybe a little putty sanded them and made them look like one tank look like even trimmed off all your flashing and to have seems were horrible kind of a piss poor job, but maybe you straightened it out who knows
❤ Hi as usual i enjoy yr videos. I am rather new so all I can learn is ultra
Helpful. Thanku.😅
PS- Q: if I am doing HO scale. Can I purchase any train I like in HO . Is that ok to do ??? I really am bit stuck. Cheerz. Thankyou.
Denise.
Thank you Denise! And yes always make sure it says HO scale in the title or description of what your buying. And if your layout is DC only make sure it’s not a DCC train your buying. DCC trains will always be more expensive though
