8:18 I actually use sifted dirt. It’s free and looks 10x better. Another tree idea I use is dried golden rod. Also again free and all around me. I spray clear coat all over the plant then I rub it in ground foam. They make perfect Lombardi popular trees.
Well done, looks very good! I prefer to use "Loctite Power Grab" in a caulk tube, it holds right away and dries fast, even works with plaster casts to foam
F'kin brilliant, l could never do anything like this, l have dreamed of it but it will never happen. You are really the man. The soundboard we call 'Tentex' in UK.
Great video. I am extremely grateful for the tips and tricks on building the asphalt roads and the sidewalks, but I am also intrigued and grateful for the insights into planning and building placement you give. Its easy to think that you need to have everything nailed down in the plan before you start building anything, but seeing how you tested and adjusted on the layout with the buildings is both helpful and inspiring. Thank you!
Wow! What an AWESOME, AWESOME Layout! These are the most realistic streets and sidewalks I've ever seen! Where did you get 24x28 Styrene sheets at only $7.00 from? Are these Styrene plastic sheets, or plain stryrene?
Very good vid! I am a beginner and also want to model the 1950s era. Could you recommend a good source for HO scale vehicles? Your vehicles are very nice. Thanks!
Is the art illustration board cardboard or foam? I'm having a hard time finding the right one as there are many different versions and most are not suitable for the job
Being an east Bay Arean my whole life, this scene is so familiar and fun .
Asphalt is so realistic!
Very nice I theme my tracks pre/ post 1950 to the60s
Wow, such a spectacular, superb and realistic layout!! Splendid video, a pleasure to watch!

I need to try that… I got everything right, except it’s glossy .
@ flat modge podge works wonders. Gloss modge podge is great for waters
your video's are put together very well. Thank you for your efforts

I am in awe about the details of your layout. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you very much!
Very interesting. I'm sure the same principles could be applied to other scales as well, such as N scale.
That's a right smart lookin' layout you have there. Takes lots of patience don't it?
Well done!

Well I did notice that you have a window A/C unit I might be wrong but I don't think they had those yet ?

Great!
What year did the parking lot strips change from white to yellow?

It's laminated in layers of very high quality "cardstock". Foam board is crap.
Sand paper is more realistic as it has asphalt texture as well
Prior to 1954, stop signs were yellow with black lettering.
Road surface would look more realistic with cracks, potholes and patches
So much skill So much love
Back then a bag of groceries only cost $20 and would last for a couple of weeks.
Its all great. But not everyone is an artist with painting skills. 90% of everyone out there like me will F it all up
