    You did an excellent job by proving that not every industrial site has to be rail-serviced.

      What can be fun is adding an abandonned rail that isn't connected to the track as if the industry had been previously serviced by rail but isn't anymore

    Here's a tip that I do when working with long decals, work with one decal at a time,when applying the decal into the water take both index fingers and gently flatten out and hold the decal down for about 30 seconds and it should hold its shape while setting up in the water. Bonus tip: I use distilled water for my decals at room temperature as tap water might contain chemicals to make it safe for drinking but could weaken or damage decals,plus a gallon of distilled water cost very little ( a gallon jug can cost less than 2$ in some places) and last a long time.I've been using the same jug for nearly 3 years.. good luck ,the layout is looking great..👍

    Awesome work as always! I'm working on some very similar topography in my layout soon so this has great tips to go by. The decals still look good, I sometimes try to blend torn decals into some weathering so that it looks a little more realistic, like a faded or damaged/scratched finish that messed up part of a sign or logo.

    Your videos are fun! I would suggest that when you apply decals not to take the decal off of the backing paper until it’s almost in position where you intend to put it. Especially one that big, get it close to where it’s going and slide the paper out from under it. Good job though

    Nice video mate. The scene came together nicely. Here is a tip for when you put decals on your models. Use warm water with a dash of dishwashing liquid. Those two together will stop the decal from curling up when it comes in contact with the water. Decals are not an easy thing to apply especially to a surface that's not flat! Hope that helps. Looking forward to the next one.

    • @AllenCNW441

      Suggest keeping the decal on the paper backing when removing it from the water, place it near the location and slide it off with a brush or foam blotter-having the surface wet with the “Sol” or water allows it to be positioned. Maybe that’s why they’re called “water slide decals”

    Good work! This is just my two cents here. To add more interest I would have had a switch come off that curve. Then have track go up a small embankment and to those tanks as a one car siding for the propane dealer.
    I’m into switching, so when I see some space I think best how to utilize it for an industry. You’ve got a great track foreman, I’ve got four myself. :-)
    I’ve subbed your channel, I’ll share mine with you when I start uploading videos.

    • @TopRailroad
      @TopRailroad  8 месяцев назад +2

      I actually used to have a switch on that curve in the beginning haha but I took it off cause I don’t want the layout to be too crowded

    • @straightto8
      @straightto8 8 месяцев назад

      @@TopRailroad Yes, that’s the flip side when things get too crowded, gotta find a balance. Especially if it’s rural, wouldn’t be as crowded as say an urban setting where things are often times more condensed.

    Sometimes if the decals are old they get brittle, spray a light coat of gloss or dull coat on before soaking. It actually works really good and firms up the decal, the decal might seem a little thicker but the solvent will hold it down.

      @TopRailroad  8 месяцев назад +1

      That’s a good tip!

  • @Flappybird787
